Five Favorites From Summer ’95

Jones Beach — Summer '95

Tweezer” 6.14 II, Memphis, TN

The Mud Island “Tweezer,” a classic and personal favorite that—I feel—is captivating for the entire 50 minutes.

Runaway Jim -> Free” 6.15 II, Raleigh, NC

Phish took this doggie a long way from home in Walnut Creek, another classic rendition.

David Bowie” 6.24 II, Philadelphia, PA

In a summer that contained countless standout “Bowies,” this version from the Mann Music Center is among the elite.

Down With Disease -> Free” 6.26 II, S. Springs, NY

One of the finest sequences of music from a spectacular summer—a two-pronged, psychedelic monstrosity.

Stash” 6.17 II, Gainesville, VA

A mind-numbing version from that closed the first set on the fifth night of a five night run. And it wound up being the highlight of the show.

On the SKM, I gotta say, love Tiny Cities the most. Fav right now.

I dig his rearrangements and covers. He took Modest Mouse to a whole new trajectory for me. Same with his cover of “All Mixed Up.”

I haven’t heard the AC/DC stuff. If anybody has it…

    Happy Birthday Bob.

  2. BingosBrother Says:

“Phill and Friends solo projects or Trey Symphony, same night, same area, which one r u picking?”

Why not both. Half listen to Phil, half listen to the orchestra.

  3. tela'smuff Says:

MiA – you can find the AC/DC stuff in the link i put up a couple pages back

  4. gavinsdad Says:

    lol @bingos…

Voodoo – d’angelo. need to listen to this chronically.

I really appreciated your link Tela’s. You’ve turned me onto so much great music.

I should have looked before speaking.

But your link didn’t have it all. 😉 So if you haven’t heard all of it…

Love at First Feel, You want Blood, etc.

Thanks mang. You have turned me onto with the BB Spiritual Plinko funk room that you created, during those sessions, i came to realize “What the hell is this Spotify thing -> Into oh, it’s greatest invention in the 21st century after the iPhone and I must pamp it to everyone.

Mike- Did you say you got Breaking Bad season 4 off the ‘noid? I jonesing to watch that season. Sick show, huh?

Digging some of these 90s ABB shows ( DSBDs) that have popped up on the ‘noid.

Think El Dude may be right. This could be the last go around for these guys. Trying to get in to building for one of the Beacon shows. Gcub and I are looking to go either 3/13, 3/14. or 3/20 if any other NYC peeps wanna go.

  7. mike in austin Says:

Hell, all you turntable folks have turned me onto a ton of music. You know who you are.

I’ve been drinking wine for dinner. Kinda drunk. Maybe better start drinking water.

  8. mike in austin Says:

I did Mr. P. All in 720p. Looks great.

  9. mike in austin Says:

Season 4 is amazing. Ep. 10 was unbelievably fantastic. You gotta download it. It’s like “Lost” level of sucking you in, where you’re up at 2 AM in the morning watching, and wondering if there is time for one more ep. before going to bed.

  10. mike in austin Says:

“Why not both. Half listen to Phil, half listen to the orchestra.”

Bwa ha ha. I just got that. That’s hilarious.

  11. Mr. Palmer Says:

I know Mike. After the about 3 episodes in season 1 i was done for.

Those scenes with Tuco were off the wall intense ( no spoilers). Looks like season 2 is only about 2 gigs. I’ll start downloading. I’ve never pulled a video from the ‘noid.

  12. Mr. Palmer Says:

    season 4 , that is ^^

  13. mike in austin Says:

I watched the first three on Netflix, then just downloaded 4 in SD, then HD. Should really be watched in HD. The quality of the camera work and just overall cinematography is great. Really quality production there.

For all the parents out there…

See You On The Moon! – Songs for Kids of All Ages.

Includes Mark Kozelek doing Leo and Luna and Social Broken Scene doing Puff The Magic Dragon and other great tracks like Sufjan Stevens doing The Friendly Beasts.

Wow. This is a great track.

  14. mike in austin Says:

Oscars time. DVR’ing so I can blaze through commercials.

  15. sumodie Says:

No DVR & no cable here, so no Oscars. Kinda like just catching the online updates nowadays anyway

Finishing Lost season 5 tonight! Back to Breaking Bad soon…

  16. garretc Says:

“DVR’ing so I can blaze through commercials.”

But commercials are exactly when you’d want to step outside and blaze, so you don’t miss the action!

    Oh… I see what you mean there…

  17. Angryjoggerz Says:

Watching awards now, weird since I only saw two films last year, but guess it doesn’t matter. My wife digs it, so I am down.

MRI is to see if I have any rumors or shit causing my nutso tinnitus, but mostly a precaution. Hoping for the best, but loins noises make it bad, so a head MRI does not sound pleasant. Oh well.

  18. garretc Says:

Rumors? As in the Fleetwood Mac album? How many times do you have to listen to it before being at risk for nutso tinnitus? Never suspected AJ of being a Mac aficionado…

Loin noises? My MRI was free of proximity to loins, but maybe they do it differently out in the midwest?

Sorry to make light of a potentially serious situation, AJ, but, well, that’s pretty much all I do, make jokes about serious things, so don’t feel singled out!

  19. angryjoggerz Says:

    lol @ loin noise.

  20. angryjoggerz Says:

and rumors. damn iphone typing. tumors and loud. loud tumors.

  21. garretc Says:

I got iphone’d a few times the other day, happens to the best of us…

Giving the H/W-S official release it’s first spin today. I didn’t think the AUDs I had before were so bad, but damn, these are so much more fresh!

Half-way through Emotional Rescue right now, funky goodness

  22. Mike in Austin Says:

Wow. The commercials are better than Billy Kristol.

Bryan Cranston FTW in the Roommate commercial.

  23. Mike in Austin Says:

    Good luck tomorrow AJ

  24. jerseyjim Says:

thanks MIA for the moontunes…checking that out…funny that Sufjan Stevens is (seemingly) doing an album about every state…wonder if he would do one about every planet instead…with a bonus track for planetoids…

    untapped market alert, is all…

  25. tela'smuff Says:

damn AJ. hope all goes well.

right on MiA. very cool, and I’m much like most here, just love sharing and talking about music. BB, TT, Spotify, all greta ways to do so. Need to hop back on TT more often.
