Haven’t been keeping up with Miner’s recs lately, been trying to lay off the Phish a bit lately, and I just finally picked up the H/W-S official release, so that’ll take up what Phish listening I am doing…

But all these ’95 jams may shake up the paradigm, it’s my weak spot, as far as the “peak” years go…

  2. garretc Says:

Put up the first in what will be a weekly (for at least a few weeks) feature over on the music blog I write for with my friends. “Melancholy Mondays”, a sentiment I’m sure you all can get behind, and some quality tunes taboot taboot!

    *End shameless self-promotion*

  3. DryIceFactory Says:

    dates this week? yes? no?

  4. Mike in Austin Says:

    Thanks for the music!

I can’t see how Phish can hold back too much longer. Some folks have to plan airlines, etc.

If they don’t fill sheds this summer, they may only have themselves to blame.

  5. Dr Pronoia Says:

never been more excited to watch the fanbase instantly shift from MSG disillusionment and dates grumbling to ticket panic and tour planning

  6. gavinsdad Says:

so we heard about the few BB shutouts at MSG nye…but for real, per @doc pro’s comment above…did anyone here get shut out of any shows last Summer?

  7. ae Says:

crazy last few days for me and my family. i don’t always share here, but this is nuts. and a downer, so be warned.

off to a funeral/burial today, after a funeral service yesterday. my sister’s husband’s sister’s husband, or my brother-in-law’s brother-in-law…my sis lives down the road from us in brooklyn and this family also lives one neighborhood away. for 47 years, this guy lives a great life. fighter for social justice in his career as the director of an organization that helps folks get legal help that might not have access to it (NY lawyers for the public interest), great husband, great dad, three kids, funny, nice, smart, good cook, good athlete…he started to not feel well around thanksgiving, they did all the physical tests, nothing wrong…during christmas he’s really miserable. mental health, he’s anxious, he can’t sleep, he’s depressed, he stops going to work, hasn’t been to work since new years. he was talking to a psychiatrist, he started on medication a few weeks ago…

on thursday he went to my sister and brother-in-laws house for lunch. they were encouraging him to do that, to get out of his house, get out of his wife’s hair for a few hours. they ate a sandwich and while my sister was in the back with my 4 year old nephew who was sick with a fever and whiney for mommy, he went into her wallet, took out her roof key, slipped out the door, up to the roof and jumped 31 floors.

    unbelievable.

never heard of such a fast and fierce bout of mental health. everyone asks if there was something else no one knew about (money, gambling) but not that anyone knows about. 800 people showed up for a sobfest funeral service in brooklyn yesterday, most with no idea wtf happened to this great guy. the two older kids and his wife were among the speakers. unreal.

sorry about the bad story. spent a lot of time thinking about mental health and how it’s treated in this country. if this was cancer no one would have questioned getting him all of the treatment he needed, but this is handled and spoken about in such a different way. tragedy.

  8. joemeg Says:

damn, so sorry to hear about that ae. What a tragedy. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. I have a brother who struggled for many many years with mental illness. He still struggles now, but thankfully he has gotten the help he needed and now he lives as close to a normal life as someone like him can.

It’s unfortunate that there is such a stigma associated with mental illness which I think many times prevents people from getting the help they need.

  9. Mike in Austin Says:

I guess I wonder how many folks will find it easier and easier not to go, the longer and longer they wait.

I’m not doing any of Summer I, do they can wait until May for all I care.

I think there is going to be a lot of dancing room in the Pavs.

  10. Mike in Austin Says:

    Sorry to hear that ae.

  11. sumodie Says:

    “This does not exist”

    tick…tock…tick…tock…today?

  12. Robear Says:

Dang AE. My friend just came for a visit. He has been struggling with mental and physical issues. Trying several new things to get back on track. People go through some fragile states. So sorry.

  13. Robear Says:

I’m guessing a leg 1 over saturation of northeast. Leading to low ticket sales. Lights fire under ass of Trey, and just like last year, they come out smoking. Just like Bethel, phans believe again, and scramble to add dates to their itinerary.

And I’m with Mike. Not really looking at Leg 1, but would like to see both legs so peeps can plan to skip weddings they don’t want to attend.

  14. gavinsdad Says:

sorry if this is a repeat

Hodgy Beats (OFWGKTA) ep for dl/stream

  15. Robear Says:

I wonder if there are other big touring bands planning a June Tour that haven’t announced dates yet.?

  16. Spasm Waiter Says:

AE- So sorry for what you, your friends and family are all going through. Positive Vibrations to you and yours.

  17. Robear Says:

AE, check out “Maddie’s Song” by Seth Bernard and May Erelwine, when you’re ready. It’s on Spotify.

  18. bhizzle Says:

    Iron Maiden announced their dates

  19. gavinsdad Says:

goddamn AE – i just read back…very sorry to hear about this loss. terribly sad.

  20. Guyute711 Says:

You better believe it bhizzle, June 21st here in Charlotte. Hey Phish, I may skip some of your shows because you won’t tell me when they are and I have vacation I want to use.

  21. sumodie Says:

ae, sorry for your loss, that’s a tough one to wrap one’s head around

  22. ae Says:

    thanks everyone.

  23. bhizzle Says:

Maiden tix on sale this Friday….their making a stop in Darien with my golf buddy Alice Cooper. I’m fuckin there!

  24. bhizzle Says:

Also…today’s example of Mike’s is the toppest of notches.

  25. angryjoggerz Says:

So sorry to hear about that, ae. Really hard. Much love to your family.
