    Condolences, @ae.

    ============

    Re: dates

As an NYC kid, not much room to complain about anything regarding leg I, but I sure hope that (1) the rumored list was wrong about no Bethel, and (2) a return to Hershey is in the cards. Great experience (and sneaky good show) in 2010.

  2. halcyon Says:

Many healing thoughts and vibes your way AE.

  3. Guyute711 Says:

Sending vibes to you and yours ae. Not sure what to say about such a crazy situation.

  4. tela'smuff Says:

    damn ae. sorry man.

i can deal with them waiting until this week to announce dates, what i can’t deal with is i’ll have to wait another 2-3 weeks, maybe more, to get West Coast dates? i’m assuming that to be the case, so if i’m wrong, sorry.

but what does the band gain by releasing dates at two separate times? i just hate the idea of it to my core. i have some general ideas as to why they would do it, the obvious ones we can all think of, but maybe someone smarter can lay it out for me?

  5. Guyute711 Says:

Well, a girl I know who had sex with Mike in like 98 or 99 said the dates will be dropped tomorrow. She wouldn’t lie to me.

  6. sumodie Says:

Leg II is the band’s vacation from having to slog thru those Leg I sheds. At this point in their lives it seems the boys like to keep things loose, easy, & flexible

and since Leg II seems to be an easy sell in 3.0, RL can milk the marketing angle and keep the focus on Leg I sales

It sucks, but for leg II just block out ~Aug 18 thru Labor Day, which is not a large block of time

  7. llama Says:

ae. from of phellow newyorka. so sorry. i can relate to the pain you’re feeling, surrounding mentalillness, the maze crazy reflection that stares back at U. when u think about it. find the light in it, it’s there somewhere…this mike’s is CRaZy…i watch my own blood drowning in the pool, however oblivious, everyday. it’s real hard. u just gotta find the light. somehow.

  8. bhizzle Says:

Robear brought up a question last week that I was thinking about briefly this weekend, “the next big band”. I don’t know if one can co-exist with Phish. Most “phans” would be comparing the potential big thing to Phish and wouldn’t pass the mustard and be berated ala WSP or SCI. $0.02

  9. Dr Pronoia Says:

So sorry to hear about your loss ae

Feel free to contact me if you want to go back and forth off the board about it, from a shrinks pov

  10. tela'smuff Says:

“It sucks, but for leg II just block out ~Aug 18 thru Labor Day, which is not a large block of time”

^ultimately Sumo, this is the way I’ll handle it, but when something sucks, and it’s clear most think it sucks, seems like they could change the approach. given the scenario that it’s all about being flexible for the boys in 3.0, i would still think they need to book most of the Leg II dates by now, right?? Going by your theory, they have booked dates for Leg I, and now just want to take a few more weeks to figure out how they want to handle Leg II?

i think it’s more about the RLM milking fans, right? and while I will eventually just shut up and take it, the knowledge that someone is attempting to milk me, other than my wife (it’s a fetish thang), that frankly pisses me off. especially it being Phish and their stupid iphone cases.

    aarrgg. aggro Mondays!! :)

  11. Kaveh Says:

    Good morning BBers!

    Sorry for your loss @ae.

  12. Guyute711 Says:

They were saying on XM that the rumored rumor is that Phish is being respectful to Bonnaroo and delaying the tour announcement so people will buy that ticket first. If that is true I think it’s bullshit. There are plenty of other bands to sell tickets to the festi.

  13. bhizzle Says:

milking? RLM must have it out for West Coast fans. Since Leg I almost always starts in the east, hoping the Westies will pony up the airfare to catch an east coast show because the Westies won’t know if they’re coming to your town (we’ll help you party down). I think it all has to do with what the band (Trey) is feeling after the first few dates, but even then it seems like by that point, after playing the first 3 or 4 gigs Leg II has been booked. To me there is no benefit to anyone to announce two seperate legs.

  14. bhizzle Says:

If RHCP & Radiohead doesn’t bring them Phish will? C’mon!?!?!?!?! Phish will make or break the festival….plz

  15. Mr. Palmer Says:

Terrible news Ae..may your family find the strength to get through this trying time.

At the end of the day, Phish ( the band, not management) made it very clear that dealing with this type of stuff ( logistics, tickets, etc..) was no longer something they wanted to deal with. They decided to join up with RLM and this is how they think Phish Inc. should be run. Maybe when their contract expires, they look for new management?

Correct me if i’m wrong, Summer tour has been announced in two separate legs since ’09?

  16. HarryHood Says:

    @ Palmer

Isn’t DMB still under RLM? Surprising that they’ve had a summer tour announcement for weeks and they didn’t split it up into 2 legs?

  17. HarryHood Says:

Where’s Tripping Billy when we need DMB info? ;)

  18. Mr.Miner Says:

we more or less know the dates. relax, peeps

  19. Mr. Palmer Says:

Harry- yes. RLM obviously has a different management strategy with regards to Phish. Pretty normal. They know what works best for them ( $$$), the fans interest is not really a concern.

    What Miner said….

  20. [Not Tom] Says:

Dates ? I thought Phish said they weren’t going to play much in 2012 …

At least that’s what I remember from back last August.

  21. Mr. Palmer Says:

Miner- you believe the Memphis rumor? I saw another grouop of dates that had Memphis but not Worcester. I know you seemed confident about Woosta.

  22. Snigglebeach Says:

I’m sure the tactics of tour announcement is out of the hands hands.

That is Red Lights job. I agree they hold west coast dates to fill east coast shows. But we will get over it. And I don’t expect Tiks to be impossible anymore, so shouldn’t matter too much overall. (unless your 1 of the few lucky enough to follow full tour)

Anyone watching “Life is Short” after eastbound and down?? That dwarf is funny as hell. And all I. An think about is Willowed on here.

  23. [Not Tom] Says:

I think Phish should play at least 1 indoor show for every 2 outdoor shows this summer. There’s been a scarcity of indoor Phish for a while now.

  24. Mr.Miner Says:

woosta is for sure. No idea about Memphis.

  25. Robear Says:

Synchronicity. I think this article needs to be read. So much pain in the world:
