Five More From Summer ’95

Great Woods 7-1-95

Let’ start the week off with another dip into the primordial psychedelia of Summer ’95—the band’s most experimental tour ever.

Mike’s Song” 6.20 II, Cuyahoga Falls, OH

This menacing version descended upon Blossom, leaving many wide-eyed fans wondering what had just happened.

David Bowie” 6.15 II, Atlanta, GA

Another one of Summer ’95’s top-shelf “Bowies.”

Tweezer > Gumbo” 6.28 II, Wantagh, NY

Another multi-faceted and experimental monster, featuring “Dave’s Energy Guide” and a jam on The Breeder’s “Cannonball,” from the first night at Jones Beach.

Runaway Jim ->  Makisupa” 7.2 II, Sugarbush, VT

A hard-edged and grinding jam eventually melts into “Makisupa” on the first night of Sugarbush’s summer-ending precursor to The Clifford Ball.

Split Open and Melt” 7.1 II, Mansfield, MA

A first set joyride into seething musical realms.

The Flesh: any recommendations for places to stay in/around Saratoga?

  4. joe Says:

I may have some flop space for Worcester but it will either be at my apartment about 40 minutes out in the Boston area, or even possibly a fatty hookup on cape cod (depending on availability as it’s not my place to have the run of but I can if it’s open). either way, it’s not stumble or cab home from the venue

  5. IrieWalton Says:

Love it how when I moved east four years ago is when Phish decided to get back together and now that I’m back on the west coast it looks like leg 2 is gonna finally be a proper run up and down the best coast.

    Bring. It.

P.S. Wax is da beast. Believe the hype.

  6. albert walker Says:

    be careful irie walton

i tend to go overboard on such things and am pretty much concentrates only these days

it’s like my farmer friend around here that makes it likes to say

    herbs are for peasants

  7. Jtran Says:

Now Bill Graham in August is something I can get behind

  8. IrieWalton Says:

    Truth @ AW.

Felt like I was 15 all over again with that first taste.

Luckily I have almost a year to get my tolerance back up to its former levels prior to the od harvest in the fall.

Also if anyone is familiar with oregon’s medi card system is a patient’s info confidential or can an employer gain access to a list of who has a card?

On the fence for that very reason.

interesting fact that Another Planet Ent is the promoter for Bill Graham Civic Center, as well as the Greek and Harvey’s in Tahoe.

i would welcome a return to Tahoe. thought it was fun. affordable housing, chill, great frisbee golf course.

Bill Graham Civic Center – 8/17-18
    Shoreline – 8/19-20
    Eugene, OR – 8/22
    Gorge – 8/24-25
    Tahoe – 8/27-28
    Salt Lake – 8/29
    Dick’s – 8/31-7/2

one can dream. i’d do that whole thing.

wolfman’s father – depends if you are just looking for a place to crash or a nice place to stay. grand union right on route 9 would be just fine for a nearby place to crash. i stayed there a few years back for some shows before i had moved up here. if you need something nicer – try to get a room at the hilton in town, pretty close to all the bars and action.

  13. Kaveh Says:

My wife and I were at Bill Graham for the Furthur NYE shows a couple years back. A very nice place. GA. Best seats are the one’s straight back, if you want to sit. Otherwise, the floor is good. The place is small.

    DC to AV

in 2010 we left the campground at 9, waited at a rest stop in Chi for friends for about an hour, and rolled in just as they opened the lot at AV at 330.

we were literally the first car in the lot

it was tough to have the camp packed up by 9. But, we dug deep and found a way to make it happen.

left it all out there on the field.

  15. Mike in Austin Says:

    I like Tela’s imagination.

  16. albert walker Says:

    laterz kids
    been fun!
    first puff time!

  17. Mike in Austin Says:

“we were literally the first car in the lot”

And probably the last to leave based on how parking works there.

  18. snowbank Says:

Silly, that really makes this old fat man want to skip DC… but I’m very proud of your determination.

  19. snowbank Says:

Thanks for playing along @TreasureR. My girl lived in Oly at the same time.

  21. garretc Says:

Bill Graham would be dope, but I’m not really too excited about another Northern California ticket fight… Greek ’10 and Tahoe ’11 then BG ’12 would make three years in a row of sub 10,000 person venues out here…

  22. Mr.Miner Says:

bill graham is on from what i hear. the venue sucks though. All bay area venues suck in one way or another. CANNOT fathom (except for promoter reasons which I;m sure is the reason) why they don’t play Oracle Arena in Oakland

  23. voopa Says:

    BG Civic? Really? Groan.

    ION, Greek Theater history:

  24. IrieWalton Says:

Any other leads/rumors about west coast dates @ Miner beyond Graham and Dick’s?

  25. garretc Says:

    Seriously, Miner.

Open both legs in some gritty arenas.

Never seen an Oracle show though, does it convert well?
