Five More From Summer ’95

Great Woods 7-1-95

Let’ start the week off with another dip into the primordial psychedelia of Summer ’95—the band’s most experimental tour ever.

Mike’s Song” 6.20 II, Cuyahoga Falls, OH

This menacing version descended upon Blossom, leaving many wide-eyed fans wondering what had just happened.

David Bowie” 6.15 II, Atlanta, GA

Another one of Summer ’95’s top-shelf “Bowies.”

Tweezer > Gumbo” 6.28 II, Wantagh, NY

Another multi-faceted and experimental monster, featuring “Dave’s Energy Guide” and a jam on The Breeder’s “Cannonball,” from the first night at Jones Beach.

Runaway Jim ->  Makisupa” 7.2 II, Sugarbush, VT

A hard-edged and grinding jam eventually melts into “Makisupa” on the first night of Sugarbush’s summer-ending precursor to The Clifford Ball.

Split Open and Melt” 7.1 II, Mansfield, MA

A first set joyride into seething musical realms.

also hate the thought of July 4th in jail…i mean trying to dance at Jones Beach

  2. Kaveh Says:

    Thanks @Miner for the dates.

Personally, I didn’t think BG was that bad when I was there for the NYE two night shows of 2008.

  3. Multibeast Says:

So the ‘big’ west coast tour untrue?

  4. snowbank Says:

I was reading at as BG _> other dates-> Colorado. Otherwise there are two weeks without shows.

  5. snowbank Says:

I’m thinking Bader Field sounds really nice. Hotels in the area. Keep the party rockin in AC. Just about the same cost to get to NYC as Chicago.

I see what you did there, Miner.

I totally hear you, but as someone who can work a full day and still make it to JB by showtime, I won’t complain all that much 😉

  8. voopa Says:

garret- I saw GD at Oracle about 25 times…just like seeing a band in any basketball/hockey arena, IMO. Plus chill WC/Bay Area vibe (inside).

  9. btb Says:

    Phishileaks, huh?

Looks like BTB Fest is on. Gonna rock Cinci, Pitts and finish at home – not too shaby!

  10. garretc Says:

Nice voopa, good to know. I think I’ve only been in Oracle once for a Dubs game, so I can’t even speculate how it would work out musically.

Can’t be a whole lot worse than BG, not that BG is all that bad, but it’s also not particularly splendid either. Plus, you know, bigger, which would be nice

  11. Multibeast Says:

Shoosh. That 11.27.98 Weekapaug is pretty hot.

  12. Lycanthropist Says:

    don’t eat anyone this year.

  13. voopa Says:

Word Multi, love the Woosta-paug. May have to revisit tonight.

  15. sumodie Says:

AC is by far my top pick for Leg 1: 3 nights outdoors on a gen adm field – my absolute fav setup

Add on 2x Portsmouth (which has been gen adm in 09-10) and that’s one hot looking 5 show run

but at this point just Woosta & SPAC look possible for me. Too funny that got hacked -sorry, Coran

  16. Robear Says:

you cats talking like the ophishal announcement came! had to check the site.

  17. Mike in Austin Says:

Where’s my Live Bait?! Wait. We don’t have dates yet?

  18. sumodie Says:

Anyone see this dude’s research into the number of days from Phish announcing a tour till the first show? He went back ~20 years

80 days = avg # of days b/t Phish announcing tour & playing first show of tour

And here we are 100 days away from Leg 1 in Worcester and up in arms about wanting dates. History says we need more patience, oops
