Ten For Tuesday
“Mike’s Song -> Breathe Jam ” 10.25.95 II, St.Paul, MN
A relic from the day when “Mike’s Song” had jams. In this Fall ’95 incarnation, Trey annihilates the opening segment moving to his mini kit as the band moves further and further into experimental territory. Slipping into abstraction, they pass smoothly into an instrumental interpretation of Pink Floyd’s “Breathe.”

“Simple > McGrupp” 10.26.96 II, Charlotte, NC
This is but one of many standout “Simples” along the road of Fall ’96, and served as the centerpiece of Charlotte’s Fall ’96 stop.

“Weekapaug -> Mango Song” 11.25.94 II, Chicago, IL
Concluding our patchwork “Mike’s Groove,” here is the unique segue and song pairing that followed “Harpua” at UIC in Fall ’94.

“My Left Toe -> Whipping Post” 7.25.99 II, Noblesville, IN
In a stunning piece of first-set improvisation, Phish built their abstract Summer ’99 vehicle into a legit take on the Allman’s classic. This jam came out of nowhere at the beginning of the show at Deer Creek, foreshadowing one of Summer ’99’s best outings.

“Tweezer -> Makisupa” 10.22.95 II, Champaign, IL
Another buck-wild, Fall ’95 throwdown to follow up yesterday’s “Tweezer” from the same tour.

“Stash” 12.5.97 II, Cleveland, OH
Behind the dance-party funk of Fall, “Stash” made a huge splash every time it dropped. Here is the second set opener of the consistently underrated show from Cleveland State. Though this version doesn’t stray too far from structure, it absolutely slays from start to finish.

I would kill a small child in return for a My Left Toe this summer.
And hell, I’d bump that up to three small children for a My Left Toe AND a Fikus…
@garret
here’s a thought: offer up your toe(s)
quid pro quo and all that
I don’t think they’d play it for a baby killer, sicko

thanks for the bounty of jams recently, miner!
morning, kids
hope everyone is doing well
how was your time in wisconsin, TIII?
@silly
productive! whirlwind driving tour.
border crossing>lake geneva>delevan>beloit>janesville>lap around madison*>beaver dam>watertown>whitewater>east troy>delevan/geneva reprise>kenosha>gone south
*included stop/start jam and lunch teases
Crazy T3 – and I thought this train to NYC business was a grind.
Hey Folks- Happy Tuesday.
Does anyone have the link for storage mix handy? Much thanks in advance.
BTW- My wife who has been well documented in her dislike of Phish was really enjoying the mix of plinkage a few nights ago. Go figure.
so lately I’ve been trying to read about different dead and almost dead languages
I’ve always been fascinated by irish gaelic (“you would”), but I started reading about Bobby Sands – the IRA hunger striker who died in prison in 1981.
Looks like the Dead played a show the next night at Nassau Coliseum (5/6/81 – Dick’s Picks 13) and they dedicated a He’s Gone to Bobby Sands.
I always forget that the Dead could be overtly political. I’ve always argued that the music and performance itself is quite political, but they were outspoken sometimes.
I dig it.
that is a whirlwind, T3
hope your lunch in Madison was good!
I almost just signed up for Sinn Fein’s emailing list.
then I realized that would attract some attention.
@gdad
that’s day three of a crazy week. two days touring the highways an byways of illinois preceded that. at least for wisco I didn’t have to drive. the two days preceding were:
I
early flight>rental car tango*>kankakee>champaign>mattoon>decatur>springfield>pekin>the quiet of peoria at night
II
peoria morning ramble>galesburg>peru>sterling>freeport>rockford blues>calling it a night*
*messed up reservations jam
**full harry caray dinner jam to end set
not as many songs along the way those first two days, but a lot of extended jams getting from one place to the other. a lot of what we call “windshield time”…
incidentally, one of the first things I saw when I drove into downtown Peoria was a swingers club. no joke. there isn’t much going on in downtown Peoria on a monday night, but apparently there’s a vibrant alternative lifestyle scene.
Storage Mix?

@sumodie: thanks for the link; looking forward to checking this out.
Sumo- I think that is it. Thanks. Same dude who did plink mix, I believe.
just put that MLT>Whipping Post on a loop and that should be enough
my number #1 Phish musical experience out of the shows i’ve seen. hard to top in my opinion. after listening to Miner’s ’99 Summer Picks yesterday, I still think the Creek MLT is the most realized, if there can be such a thing for this song.
20 jams in a row? This site has gone #stagnant.

I just saw this tshirt:
“Protect your landbase. You can’t have sex without it.”
Morning Comrades,
@silly you should check out that Bobby Sands He’s Gone. One of the great jams of the ’80’s. Jerry just goes off.
Great jams today, can’t wait to dig in.
“To all you students:
I let college get in the way of more Phish.”
I did the opposite. My college was far enough away from home that it proved to be a spring board to a whole lot more shows. I do NOT have the Alumni Blues now.
This Storage Mix Experience is exceptional! Thanks again for posting this.
Simple>McGrupp…while watching the Yankees win the world series! Priceless!
