11.28.97 YEM – best phish i’ve heard all day. tripped out funk in the jam w/ slowed down crosseyed flavor

  3. alf Says:

    fall 96 grooves ftw

    how sick is this mike’s

  4. MiA Says:

I’ve been staring that show down in my playlist Kaya. That Curtain, YEM, I didn’t know, Maze is calling me.

  5. MiA Says:

Phish ticket rejection is a weird deep rejection that really gets me down. I know where there is a will, there is a way. My first MSG shows (’98) I went to New York with only 2 tickets in my hand. And it all worked out.

Hope this YEM is the antidote.

So I am pretty resistant to embracing new tech stuff. i was easily 3 years behind my friends in even getting a cell phone. Once the company phone gravy train ran out my wife forced me to get an iphone. I did it because with rebates and such, it only came to 100 bucks (which is what i would probably pay for a shitty new phone anyway.) I am now a believer. Just picked up the live music archive app for 3.99. 8,000 dead sbd shows in my hand? Get the fuck out of here

  7. kayatosh Says:

Mia: spin the Ghost too. (11.28.97)

added to my IWM short. deeply underwater. might get bernake’d as well. was late to the bear party on monday, stuck around too long, and now i’m left to clean up the stale beer and puke. just a paper loss for now, but it is mighty steep. a loss of this magnitude would rule out all recreational activity, including phish shows, for the next 10 years. yet, i’m remarkably at ease. one retail tech company can’t carry the market.

  8. MiA Says:

Good luck Kaya. Go away in May will happen. Or it won’t. I don’t think we are in 2009 anymore. Although I am serious thinking about refinancing for the second time in 2 years.

    http://worldwideponzicollapse.blogspot.com/2011/10/banksters-are-problem.html

Anonymous’s video on why Banksters are the problem. Interesting “Through the looking glass” kinda of stuff. The more research I do, the more I am sympathetic to this. Some of it’s hyperbole, and sounds stale without the research backing it up.

I am long a bit of the market (STX, AAPL) but still have 65% in cash. I think Europe may come back into the light again soon (mid May) We are so far from being done, it’s just a matter of time when the crash occurs again. Tougher to see it other than Government based debt instead of personal mortgage backed debt.

  9. tela'smuff Says:

like that you’re working some of the unheralded ’96 jams in Miner. good stuff today.

@kaveh – see you in CO

  10. SillyWilly Says:

    Robear

are your karuk-speaking friends people that wouldn’t mind me emailing them and asking them silly questions about pronunciation and the like?

    @Guyute

you 90s kids with your fax machines and Phish

    @T3

so much better that I asked so I could find that Let me google that for you site

seriously never heard the term “chalking.” And I’m kinda glad I never had to live on the edge like that. You all had more ice water, no doubt.

In the age of graphic design we just had our design friends make us new IDs

pretty much foolproof except for the scan and barcode thing

    “chalking” in the ‘oughts, yo.

  11. Robear Says:

silly, let me get some email addy’s. I”m sure they would be excited / proud, to help. you may have to come up and do interviews 😛

  12. SillyWilly Says:

Just got an email from the TA Union in Madison:

Student Loan Debt in the US just exceed 1 Trillion.

    FML?

    fuck our lives.

  13. Gavinsdad Says:

We painstakingly “stenciled” each character on our NJ licenses. Got the Helvetica rub off stencils at pearl art. Perfect project for a Virgo like me.

Note from my digestive tract: never eat deli mayo. It’s simply too much of a dice roll.

Really really behind on these jams. My phone buffers the hell out of em and headphones at work isn’t a good look most of the time.

    #middlemanagement’d

  14. SillyWilly Says:

    I’m pumped, Robear

trying to learn some Ho-Chunk (tribe originally in madison) right now for some stuff I’m writing. Figured it would be totally white-man of me to cop some words without knowing how to pronounce them

emailing random professors I’m finding online

  15. alf Says:

i cant decide if i want to spend the next several years aggressively paying off our loans, or just wait for the student loan debt bubble to burst in hopes of some sort of debt forgiveness thing. i mean, the insanity of the whole thing is going to blow up at some point, right?

on one hand, debt free = freedom to do whatever the fuck i want in life

on the other, living poorly & paying off loans now would suck if it turns out i wouldn’t have had to pay them all in the end

  16. Multibeast Says:

Loving the Minnesota fall 95, 96 love the past two days miner. I recall the 96 Minneapolis show very clearly. Buddy scored 2nd row seats. I remember it was odd to see them in a pretty good sized basketball arena after seeing em in smaller venues the past two years. The Suzy was definitely a highlight. How often do you hear that?

Scored all three night fields for dicks. Planning the party bus situation out of Denver. Let me know if you are interested in jumping in.

  17. SillyWilly Says:

    Correction and apologies:

Ho-Chunk is the name of the nation. The language is called Hoocak. I’m already fucking up.

    @alf

I think about that all the time.

One of the nice things about working as a public defender is you’re a government employee and there’s lots of loan forgiveness for government servants.

As far as I know, if I work for the state, consolidate my loans the right way, and make my minimum payments for 10 years, the rest of mine are forgiven.

but who knows what’s going to happen.

I can’t see the banks being too happy about not getting their money back. Could be a bit of a war. As almost no one is getting out anymore without significant debts.

What’s even stranger is the abruptness of the split. Kids from 12 yrs ago are fine. Kids from 10 yrs ago are in trouble. Kids right now are simply so dead they don’t exist.

  18. tela'smuff Says:

boy, they make a mess of this Mike’s ending though. people would be swearing off Phish in 3.0 if they did this.

  19. neemor Says:

    Wow.
Do not overlook that majestic Charlotte Bug from ’99.
Listening back with some perspective now, those were super-psychedelic years.
The pace of that Bug is remarkable.

Bring back My Left Toe, also. Please?
    Seriously,
    neems

  20. Multibeast Says:

The breakdown around 10:45 mark on today’s ghost is the business.

  21. MiA Says:

Debt Enslavement is not a new idea.

  23. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

welcome aboard, smuff. need a few more still, but we’ll get there…

  24. kayatosh Says:

another must hear YEM — 4.17.93. $$$. I Wish flavored jam.

  25. strats4ever Says:

@MiA said “Some of it’s hyperbole, and sounds stale without the research backing it up.”

You may want to Phish around the site. For example:
