TTFW: The Abstract

6.25.10—Camden, NJ (Graham Lucas)

Ghost” 9.12.99 II, Portland, OR

One of the most slept on jams of all time. Don’t sleep.

Bathtub Gin -> Simple” 12.7.99 II, Portland, ME

Phish returned to Cumberland Country Civic Center during December ’99, an era where ambient jams were prominent.

Jam -> Bug” 12.17.99 II, Hampton, VA

Though it sure felt like the Mothership was about to lift-off into “2001,” but the band teased everyone by dropping into “Bug.” This jam was the music behind the Hampton reunion announcement video.

The magic fields of Limestone…

Twist” 2.24.03 II, E.Rutherford, NJ

Aliens visited The Meadowlands.

AC/DC Bag” 11.7.98 II, Chicago, IL

This gorgeous jam from UIC illustrates the ambient shift of Fall ’98.

Drowned” 9.14.2000 II, Darien Center, NY

Forget about it—a true monster.

Roses Are Free” 1.1.00, Big Cypress, FL

The music that dawned a new millenium; the cerebral masterpiece from the end of an all-night marathon.

My Left Toe,  Stash” 6.30.99 II, Bonner Springs. KS

Phish paired the debut of “My Left Toe” with “Stash” to close the second set of  1999’s very first show.

Elton John – Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy

    followed by:

ELO – Out of the Blue

Just the musical kick in the pants I needed to get out of this mornings existential doldrums and actually get some work done!

  2. [Not Tom] Says:

@ KP – Yes, I believe they did press some, however this statement on each show on is what has me confused:

” * Please note that only the MP3, FLAC, and ALAC files are remastered. CDs and FLAC-HD files are the original source.”

^ this statement is on all the shows I’ve listed, including UTICA.

This means the CDs that you can order at the current time through LivePhish, but WTF – why would they be selling CDs of the original feed after they’ve already created a remaster that they did, in fact, press onto discs?

::nominates Dr. P to replace Mr. C as local propagator of inherent truths::

and now back to page 7

  4. [Not Tom] Says:

anyway – how the fuck am I supposed to know if my CDs that I got with the Utica DVD are the remasters? They probably don’t even sound any different anyway because :cough: remastering is just turning up the volume :cough:

  5. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

you should have that cough checked out, auntie em.

  6. [Not Tom] Says:

Just sticking it to our friend KP a little.

  7. MiA Says:

“” seems to be eaten. Very funny.

  8. kenny powers Says:

    lol @ NT

but yeah that is weird. i totally thought they sold physical Kevorkian remaster CDs on Amazon. guess i’m losing it.

duder is pretty sure the Utica audio was Revorkified, but i would expect it to mention that in the credits inside the booklet…

  9. [Not Tom] Says:

This is just the anal retentiveness in me coming out. I absolutely hate it when I have something that I like or love, and then someone tells me that there’s another one out exactly like the one I have except that it’s a little bit better. Even worse when I can’t tell exactly how it’s better – just that it’s better.

  10. [Not Tom] Says:

I’ve got the DVD so I’ll look into the packaging – still though, the verbiage is confusing as hell. Besides – why wouldn’t they offer the FLAC-HD files for the remaster – makes absolutely no sense.

  11. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

for a long time, I have lauded the ’97 2001s as some of my favorites but my recent delvings into the bevy of stellar ’99 2001s has caused me to revisit this position.

  12. [Not Tom] Says:

You know it is truly a shame that Phish went on hiatus when they did – preventing them from playing the “2001-for-the-ages” at what should have been the New Years run for 2000.

  13. sumodie Says:

The kevork’d cds are the select 2010 cd releases like greek2&3, manchester, ac2, July 3-4, etc. the greeks & manchester kevorks sound terrific. esp the greeks!

  14. garretc Says:

That’s a great point, NT. One in a lifetime chance, that…

Selfish, is what it was, really! Our desire for a 2001 2001 surely should trump any of the band’s concerns over their physical and mental health and well being!

  15. [Not Tom] Says:

@ sumo – yes, you are correct, the CDs that had the special covers are the remasters of those shows; and the remaster is available via in MP3, ALAC, and FLAC formats (but not available via CD or FLAC-HD). Makes perfect sense, right?

  16. [Not Tom] Says:

    6/27/10 – merriweather
    7/3/10 – Alpharetta
    7/4/10 – Alpharetta
    8/6/10 – Greek 2
    8/7/10 – Greek 3
    8/13/10 – Deer Creek 2
    10/20/10 – Utica
    10/26/10 – Manchester
    10/30/10 – Boardwalk 2

These are the remasters that were done for 2010.

I had req’d the Polaris show a few pgs back. Such a sick show.

Any chance you will be uploading some more of your previous fabs on the noid? In particular…

    G Woods

  18. [Not Tom] Says:

I’m considering dropping almost $90 to LivePhish for 7 of these remasters in ALAC format unless I can “discover” them on someone’s mediafire.

  19. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

they are definitely on the ‘noid @auntie em

  20. [Not Tom] Says:

But NTM isn’t on the noid

  21. MiA Says:

I think I have a dropbox to help you out NTM. Let me check at home.

  22. kenny powers Says:

    @ GhostDog

i’ll try, but i gotta say i need to be in the mood to do a bunch at once, otherwise i’ll put it off.

@ Not Tom – you just nailed me absolute #1 pet peeve re: LivePhish – the fact that the Kevorkians are NOT available as 24-bit. I mean, of all the ones that would make sense to do that for…

  23. kenny powers Says:

    just nailed “the”

  24. kenny powers Says:

    i meant “my”

  25. kayatosh Says:
