TTFF: Relax

6.12.11 - Merriweather (Graham Lucas)

Gumbo” 7.22.03 I, Noblesville, IN

A hugely cathartic first set jam that doesn’t get its proper due. Welcome to Friday.

Reba” 8.2.03 I, Limestone, ME

There’s nothing quite like a daytime “Reba” in Limestone. And this one has a post hiatus twist.

After Midnight Reprise”  12.31.99, Big Cypress, FL

The peak of the Big Cypress’ marathon set which came out of “Drowned.”

Horn” 7.15.98 I, Portland, OR

A beauty spawned out of nowhere.

Slave to the Traffic Light” 6.15.95 II, Atlanta, GA

A patient and slowly unfolding gem.

If I Could” 12.29.94 I, Providence, RI

Trey and Page come together in a poignant and powerful version.

Tweezer” 8.1.99 II, Niigata, JP

Slow and melodic in the Field of Heaven.

Prince Caspian” 7.31.99 II, Niigata, JP

You know the “2001 -> Bowie” from this set, but do you know this crushing “Caspian?” I kid you not.

You Enjoy Myself” 6.9.00 E, Tokyo, JP

A hearty helping of laid-back funk was served as the encore of Japan 2000’s first show.

Harry Hood” 9.11.99 II, George, WA

There’s nothing quite like a “Hood” at The Gorge. This one is big time.

I do know that Caspian, and he is very Niice. Thanks to the benefit cd, I can check it out often. Reba in Maine…in the afternoon. Remembering the festival, fondly…
    Good selections here, yet again.

    GO Rangers!

  2. MiA Says:

My favorite four letters on here.

Thanks. Everyone have a great day!

  3. Mr palmer Says:

Embarrassing admission. Never listened to all of IT. Heard a few of the big jams. Saw the DVD. Never actually spun the shows.

  4. SillyWilly Says:

    Good morning, kids!

    happy friday

hope everyone is doing and feeling well

  5. angryjoggerz Says:

Hey Palmer, I have never listened to it ever once, but I was there for the first night (which at the time, I hated strangely enough). Found out my dad had died, then immediately got in car and started to try to get home. Worst couple of days of my life. So yeah, no IT respin for me.

Spiritualized last night was great. Never saw AW, but place was packed and hot and humid. I like the way the band sounds much more live than on album, I think ditching the symphonics gives it a much rawer and more VU sound, which is what I love most. Lots of walls of sound, stretched out songs, very psychedelic. Not a big dancing situation, and yes lots of bellied pushing 40 guys with beards and black rimmed glasses (guilty as charged), but that just made it feel like a Phish show.

  6. Foul_Domain Says:

IT Reba and Ghost are two of my more regularly played go-to jams.

‘MITM’ flows beautifully after Ghost. I wish they’d play that song more – works so well after a big jam.

  7. stapes Says:

Love this Gumbo! Miner is correct in that it does not get it’s proper due. Mid first set sickness.

Happy Friday everyone. Have a good one.

  8. Foul_Domain Says:

^ Just finishing up this Gumbo right now and couldnt agree more.

They need to start jamming this one out again

  9. st8 of mind Says:

Mornin’ BB! This If I Could just uplifted my Friday morning. Love this song. I can’t keep up with all these tunes.

  10. stapes Says:

I’m with you on the Reba and Ghost too @ FD.

  11. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

I picked the wrong week to stop DLing jamz

  12. SillyWilly Says:

    quitting is for quitters.

  13. Pencilneck Says:

Hey now. Don’t post very often. Wanted to say thanks for these themed collections. Been super under the gun at work, and have buried myself in it, thanks to these jams. If you watch Babar, the awesome quality (and on-time delivery) of the next episode is partly due to Miners posts.

  14. SillyWilly Says:

Good to hear from you, pencilneck

    good luck at work, man!

  15. Pencilneck Says:

Thanks! Delivering my first episode today! See you cats on toor!

  16. Foul_Domain Says:

Surprise ‘Llama’ tacked on to this Tweezer. Great combo!

  17. Mr. Palmer Says:

Wow AJ. That is a pretty intense scenario. I couldn’t imagine being in a Phish atmosphere and having to hear news like that. I understand not ever wanting to listen back.

Not to pry, but was it a sudden thing with your father?

  18. Mr. Palmer Says:

I have the day off… rainy day here. Gonna kick back and spin some jams.

  19. Spasm Waiter Says:

Hey Gang- happy Friday. My full service auto mechanic dropped by at 8 this AM with nugglets of bane and good fishing intel. Gotta love a great mechanic.

  20. Gavinsdad Says:

@df – I’m still skeptical of the gorge 09 Rnr.

So far behind on these Jams its not even funny

  21. Gavinsdad Says:

Nuglets…or as my friend used to say….Nougats

  22. angryjoggerz Says:

Sudden thing. That day he had been to Dr., got best check up he had in 20 years. Heart attack at 62. I was 29, was pretty hard thing to go through of course, but my family and amazing friends (many of who are still my Phish show crew – looking at you brothers Ahern) helped me so much. Anyway, it is something we all go through eventually, but let’s just say I am not racing to Limestone any time soon. My first and only festi me thinks.

  23. SillyWilly Says:

You often speak very kindly of your father, AJ.

It’s great to hear about and see.

You’re a great man, AJ, and a great dad to your little girl. Your father would be very proud.

    peace to you, AJ.

  24. Robear Says:

Hey all! Top of the mornin!

  25. Robear Says:

Nice, Stoney Case left the ice cream out on the counter last night.

    What a #Stonerfuck!
