THE SLOPING COMPANION ESSAY CONTEST

Robert Champion of The Sloping Companion is running an essay contest for those that “Like” The Sloping Companion Facebook Page. The winner will win a recycled/upcycled wood art piece. All anyone has to do to enter is write a short, two-to-three paragraph essay about why they are so passionate about Phish. The contest is running for about two weeks and the winner will have their piece aired on the show, will be on the station, and will win a specially-created, one of a kind art piece.

Because the civilized economy is extractive, because it rewards those who exploit humans and non-humans, that is, because it rewards those who do not give back to the landbase what it needs, that is, because it rewards people for disconnecting themselves from the reciprocal relationships that characterize (human or non-human) sustainable economies and relationships, those who value the accumulation of money or power over life will always have more money or power than those who value life over money or power.

::wonders if SW saw today’s NPR story ranking the Congresses collective intelligence by average length of sentence, assumes he must have, realizes the convention-challenging use of the word “because” to begin the sentence is mindblowingly clever::

    Nicely done, sir

Your work is immensely valuable, Dr Pro. I know it may get tough sometimes, but your clients need you.

    @ Silly
Best of luck with this job interview as it sounds like it would fit you well and you’d be in a place you like and feel comfortable. Also seems likes you got it in the bag.

I was just back in central IL all weekend and my friend that I went to kindergarten all the way through HS with is a public defender. Works at the local public defender office part-time and just opened his own office. If you are looking for something in the future drop me a line. I could put you in touch. I have no idea if he’d know of anything but you never know.

    Avengers

    very impressive

terrific cast, great direction (kudos to Joss Whedon): one of the best super hero flicks

and the super hero genre is really not my thang (my money’s riding on Ridley Scott’s Prometheus for intense summer flick, and then there’s Wes Anderson’s latest)
