Stein’s Shots: Best of Leg One

“Steam” – 6.30.12, East Troy, WI

Michael Stein is one of the premiere concert photographers on the scene today. With an impeccable sense of the moment, Stein captures priceless portraits of his subjects time and time again. It just so happens that he is also a huge Phish fan. Hitting the road with the band for most of Leg One, Stein has hand selected a 38-shot gallery that represents his favorite shots of 2012 to share with Phish Thoughts today. I want to personally thank Michael for sharing his work with this site for over three years, and here’s to future collaboration! This post provides a preview, but be sure to CLICK OVER to view the rest of his Leg One gallery!

thanks, mia. this school shit is keeping me from hitting more shows. that has to stop. thankfully, taking two in the fall and one in the spring and it’s over

  2. Andrew Says:

If I could devote more time to golf I know I could shoot well, but once a week or twice a month keeps me just about bogey golf. I putt really well but struggle from 180-220 out. Decent around greens and spotty off the tee. Love it though!

    “Is Tzaras gonna make it?”
After a discussion today with Mrs Tzara’s…I think so! Need to check the ticket situation, plane tix ~$300. Extra luggage charge for a case of wine: $25–hell yeah. Not bad.

  4. MiA Says:

T3, or some reason, Tangerine Dream did me well through college.

People would come over and say “What the hell are you listening to?”

  5. Gavinsdad Says:

@phoamm – one of my very good friends has a rental house in Nosara CR if youd like the info holler at me.

  6. MiA Says:

    for some reason…

Great news Tzara’s. Don’t think you’ll have a hard time selling any of your vintage. Pay for your trip. And visit a few wine folks, and write it off.

If you want to just have all of them shipped to my hotel for the day I check in, I’m cool with that too. 😉 Don’t need to check them on a plane.

  7. Gavinsdad Says:

Finally sipped some of bigjigs wine last weekend in chicago. Tasty but I’m full blown grape n00b. Would love some direction in SF from both he and @tzaras.

@mia – we used to do the “get baked>lay on floor” in hs to tangerine dream (and Floyd of course)

  8. Gavinsdad Says:

And nobody asked but nice day in NYC today with my family and my brother and his fam who are here from LA. I have a newish 11 mo old niece named Poppy who is really a cute one. We hung in central park….threw frisbee, sat in shade….just really nice. Dim Sum tomorrow am.

My buddy Chris who some of you know lent us his apt as he is out of town.

I’m an 8.8 handicap currently, play 25 rounds a year

Highest I’ve been in 12 years as I don’t get to practice or play like I used to. 2 kids holla.

Passed my PAT playing test in ’02 (on my first try) to be a teaching pro, and worked as jr. assistant Pro at two diff golf courses in 03-04

Now it’s a total dip out of the grind hobby/ pass time for me.

Just remember to bring some extra gambling $$ when we play 😉

  10. MiA Says:

Nice. Butterfest is now gonna be replaced with MiA’s golf lesson.

  11. Gavinsdad Says:

Put up or shut up yo

  12. phoammhead Says:

gdad, thanks . . . looks like we’re going to try for two stops . . . one on the coast and one near a mountain . . . so, not sure if rental house plays out for that . . . i’ll take a look at Nosara

  13. RoosterPizza Says:

I am a horrendous putter, plain and simple. I regularly miss puts from four-five feet, and that is what keeps me in the 80s. I also never practice, so I can’t really expect much more than that. I can regularly hit the green from 150 out, but from 40-60 yards I regularly put it in the bunker or not on the green. Again, the inconsistent play you can expect from not practicing.

  14. tzara's Says:

    Golf lessons with MiA, check.
    Microbrewery tour with Tela’s, check.
Wine tasting with Tzara’s, can do.

Going to be a great weekend, don’t know if we’ll have time for Phish though.

  15. poop goblin Says:

Don’t sleep on AC 2001 either

Dcu has the sick Trey lead making it my fav but AC he plays killer filler comping throughout and centers more around the bouncing funk groove. Similar extended timing to dcu also

    And holy Fuckin fee

3 spins in the car and kept picking up more shit each time. Why this summer killed

    What a jack ass

  16. butter Says:

    @Rooster re: putting

    Back stroke = Stella

    Thru stroke = Blue

  17. RoosterPizza Says:

    I like your logic.

On the other hand, I am a year or two away from being an ass hole with the pivot/pendulum putter you hold against your chest. Whenever I see those guys, even if they are good at putting, all I can think is, “Damn, that guy blew a fuse and said, ‘fuck regular putters.'” I’m about to be that guy.

  18. MiA Says:

Every guy with a belly putter is thinking “Please, just jet me suffer my disgrace in silence”

I get it for 3′ puts. Try to put that thing across a 30′ green, and I feel like I left the putter cover on. I don’t get it.

Just spoke to Robear. I am getting really jazzed for some west coast sunshine and Phish. This is gonna be fantastic.

I love California. Add Phish and I am in heaven. Have been every year since 1994.

  19. MiA Says:

This Kathryn Hall 2005 is going down easy.

    Getting Rooster’d.

    Time for some DCU 2001

  20. Andrew Says:

Loved hearing Gary Player rip the belly putters during Open coverage, he talked about the nerves it takes to win a major and how keeping steady hands becomes the greatest obstacle, a passage to victory. Anchoring to the body eliminates this aspect of golf.

Player also spoke of future 7ft players who will drive the ball 400+ consistently, loved his enthusiasm!

  21. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

is there really any reason why I should care about my mba gpa? besides me, will anyone even know? I’m 15+ years on into my professional career. why am I stressing myself out over a number when the piece of sheepskin is all that matters?

  22. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

the obvious answer, of course, is that I will know and that I will care.

  23. albert walker Says:

    first spin SPAC Sally!!!

  24. MiA Says:

We never hire people with too high of a gpa or too low.

You cared too much (weird) or you didn’t give a fuck (slovenly)

90% of people probably lie about their GPA anyway. Kids are graduating from high school with 12.39 GPA’s What?

Get the paper, but more importantly, create the relationships.

I should get my MBA still. I am far too lazy.

    Congrats T3. Kick ass.

Fuck it, playing set II Burgettstown. Love this Jiboo.

  25. MiA Says:

I am getting Rooster’d. Ignore these next twelve posts by me.
