TTFW: Midweek Melange

8.5.10 – The Greek Theatre (Wendy Rogell)

Zero -> 2001 -> Cities -> Yamar” 11.26.97 II, Hartford, CT

One of the consistently underrated sequences of Fall ’97, in which Trey brings the spirit of Jimi to life.

A classic rendition from Cumberland County.

The innovative and astral jam from The Greek.

My favorite jam from 2003’s Holiday Run.

A stellar excursion from an otherwise underwhelming show.

A gargantuan “Disease” from the magic month of December ’95.

One of the upper echelon “Sands” of December ’99.

Piper” 7.18.99 III, Volney, NY

The Osewgo “Piper.”

Anyone got a nice combo to spice ground beef for tacos?

Thinkin smoked paprika, cayenne, maybe some garlic, salt…

  2. kayatosh Says:

mitch: all natural taco seasoning from whole foods.

  3. DaNcInG fOoL Says:

Maybe one day I’ll get lucky through the lottery and not have to stress

  4. DaNcInG fOoL Says:

@sumo, loved the master too. Found it fucking brilliant until PSH came in, then it got a bit slower /I just wanted more Joaquin but it was still great. Oh and 70mm looks FUCKING AMAZING

  5. mitch Says:

Went to whole foods last night. Forgot the seasoning.

But it’s basically the stuff I listed anyway I’m pretty sure.

  6. Phamily Berzerker Says:

Cumin is very prevalent in mexican flavoring

    Straight up taco meat seasoning:

    Garlic powder

    Chili powder

    Cumin powder

    Oregano powder

    Onion powder

Lime juice (fresh) orange or lemon will suffice in a pinch.

Salt to taste not harden your arteries.

play with the ratios for personal preference.

Works on anything from ground beef/chicken/turkey to lentils.

Been diggin veggie taco night with lentil and baked jalapeños

baking them takes the edge off after you deseed and devein them buggers.

Df, joaquin is incredibly magnetic. Listenen to npr audIo clip where pt andersen saId the jaIlhouse scene was mostly unscripted. Easily my fav part of the film.

Also heard that the opening montage of joaquin drinking torpedo fuel & waking up in the crow’s nest is exactly what happened to actor Jason Robards, who told andersen that story while making Magnolia

yeah, the lighting / cinematography/ production design is top notch too. Didnt even see it in 70 mm

  8. sumodie Says:

    Cumin is key!

  9. mitch Says:

You da man. Will try that with what I have in that list. Shoulda known the dude in AZ has the mix.

My salsa is spicy blueberry. Made me think of this:

Love how my notsmartphone likes to relentlessly capitalize “i”

resistance to checking for cc holds is weakening

12.31.03 Stash, 7 Below is some swank stanky danky phish. LP app FTW!

  12. Willowed Says:

    US World Cup qualifier tonight.

    Go USA

On a side note, the AC Jibboo 2010 smokes.

  13. MiA Says:

    My breakdowns on “percentages”

    2 teaspoons hot chili powder
    1 1/2 teaspoons paprika
    1 teaspoon onion powder
    1/2 teaspoon sea salt
    1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
    1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
    1/2 teaspoon oregano
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, or to taste
1 pinch cayenne pepper, or to taste (optional)
1 pinch red pepper flakes, or to taste (optional)

  14. sumodie Says:

Highly recommend using (ground) chipotle red pepper as a sub for basic hot ground chili pepper spice

Has a smoky (& hot!) flavor that i can’t get enough of

hmmmm…feeling the need to crank the stereo to 11

  15. ren Says:

Mmmmm tacos and chili. You might say Im crazy but I always put some cinnamon and either cocoa powder or bakers chocolate into mine….background flavors.

  16. voopa Says:

Blueberry salsa? Cinnamon? Crazy East Coasters.

  17. ren Says:

On another note….looking for some expertise on hermies if anyone is knowledgeable on the subject.

  18. Phamily Berzerker Says:

    ^as in the garden variety?

  19. ren Says:

    Si Senor

  20. ren Says:

7/2 on the f/m ratio has me suspicious

  21. mr.palmer Says:

way out of the loop this go around..

are people getting holds already? My cards don’t show holds and I’m not neurotic enough to call my bank. When is on sale for MSG, this Saturday?

  22. ren Says:

haven’t checked the CC yet palmer…why you heard some news?

  23. joe Says:

giving that trey 99 Riviera show a run. Nice Will it Go Round in Circles? just checked my bank account. no action on the phish tickets.

  24. Phamily Berzerker Says:

    ratios are curious beasts.

Couple that with the body of knowledge in general on the subject pertaining to what we may be inferring about and you have higher skepticism on the matter.

Never measured it personally. found success to be greater than 50% of the viable subject matter.

My experience is dated as well 10+ years removed from that

  25. joe Says:

Tall order for our host’s 9 tonight facing Verlander. At least they know first hand that a team can come back from down 3-0 even if they lose tonight. (it’s all I got. supporting a 69 win team doesn’t give you much to talk shit about)
