Miner could post the Christiana ‘Ghost’ everyday and twice on Sundays. I wouldn’t complain.
@frankie – I caught some of Marcos set in NYC 2 Fridays ago. I was pretty impressed. Have you seen him often? What’s your take?
@Gdad – at the bowery? i was there! although, i drank too muh beforehand, i ended up blacking out after my first beer at the show, and zombie walked out of the place like an hour into the set. whoops
which is weird because i very rarely get drunk at shows, idk what happened. i was with a differnt group of friends, they were just drinking a lot. oh well at least it wasnt phish
10/21/95 may be my fav show top to bottom. Even gtbt is a possible best ever.
Picked up Carolina in both my leagues this week. Looking good so far. Fuck Big D
I’m a big fan of Marco’s music GDad… Ever since the Benevento/Russo days… His records are all really good and live he’s an improv monster! We were actually talking about that with Fishman after the show that the best shows you could see were when you never know what’s gonna happen, where the musician is gonna take you and that’s what happens with Marco… Saw him in AC after the 10.30 show in 2010. He was playing with Billy Martin and Marc Friedman and I wouldn’t be surprised if they had not rehearsed at all… They just went for it!
There’s a great little video of that evening on vimeo…
He’s gonna play at the Highline Ballroom after the 12.28 show in NYC and I’ll be there for sure!
10.21.95 is one of my favorite shows as well! Can’t beat the Tweeprise sandwich first set!
@purps – yeah we were upstairs to the right. But we got there late prob as you were banging that hooker, I mean leaving.
@frankie – thanks alot…I was super impressed. I saw grab and then lots of Russo w Phil etc but not Marco solo. It was intriguingly good. Most importantly they were having fun. I just added him to my song kick app. I won’t be in NYC for 12/28. If I’m in town for 12/29 I think I’m going for it and Doing bisco post show. Untz Untz mofos.
yes, what i do remember of the show was amazing, and i woke up to see that i had texted my email address “Get the bew marco b receord” which i assume meant New. anyway, since the show ive been listening to him a ton on spotify and i think im definitely about to start a kick. been looking for a new artist to get into and in particular craving piano driven stuff lately.
There is lots of really good shows on the archive that I can point you to if you want… See you in NYC GDad!
Here is a solo version of his song Record Book that my friend Joelle shot a few years ago for the Montreal JazzFest…
You should come on the 28 purple…
Do you have to say it with such a mustache?
come check out my uno card blog

frankie – if you had to recommend one marco album what would it be? im probably gonna buy one or two
@88cents Mango Ahahaha!
@Purple You should get Between Needles and Nightfall and the first one Invisible Baby. On those two, he plays with my favorite version of his trio with Andrew Barr on drums and Reed Mathis on bass. Two amazing musicians as well! Check out this Reed Mathis bass solo on their version of Fearless…
that neil young tune fuckin’ up is illustrative . . . or at least it reminds me of myself.
twisted road, too
pressure cooking a 5.5 lbs pork end loin roast in garlic red curry simmer sauce . . . i’ll report back in a while
This might sound ridiculous, but I think I am going to go down just for the 28th. Risky in terms of music, but I have deemed it better to catch one show than none.
That pork end loin sounds really good.
sounds like a plan, rooster . . . make what you can
we’re not catching any end of year phish . . . saving our ducketts for 30th anny phish. plus, went to nyc last two years and gotta slow down on that money drain. i do believe this years msg will smoke last year by a country mile.
I ordered my tickets for Japan already, and I will be leaving on June 12, a Tuesday. 2010 tour started June 11th, and that really scares the shit out of me. I will be here for two weekends in June, so I am hoping that I will be able to at least hit a couple of shows. The 28th, though, is my insurance plan. Of course, a welcome home trip to the South would be a welcomed addition to all of this.
Saw Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi last night in Spartanburg, SC. Although Jamoe wasn’t on bass, band still was tight. Trucks can positively can shred. Killer tone and just amazing playing. Susan had some good chops too. and oh that voice!!! She and Nicki Bluhm are my top female vocalists currently. move over Grace Potter…
