One of the greatest things Tory ever gave to the clueless Phishies was respect of VU by droppin that Loaded. Can still remember how pissed kids were. Everyone was so opinionated back then on the Halloween set and over half the crowd seemed to be pissed if it wasn’t Zep, Floyd, Hendrix, or GD. Lots of bitchin goin on at the time. Very closed minded fan base. Def not fans of VU by any means. Of course this was the beginning of Tory getting more into the hipster scene so made perfect sense. Hipster gold that album.

But slowly year after year phish kids started saying how much they dug the set and the album and started digging a bit deeper into their catalog.

Still laugh at the kids that think the real Halloween was in Utah.

Not a big fan of your standard Rawker record but damn that Loaded is just about perfect.

Hang in there east coast kids!
Hope the herbs aren’t running low!

Just voted since I won’t be in town Tuesday, nothiing like standing in a rainy line for 2hrs while homophobes yap in my ear about voting against gay marriage.

Lady: “PLEASE Vote against question 6″
    Me: “You’re awful, go die”
    Lady: “Waaaaaaaah

End of story, question 6 voted FOR.

  15. Kaveh Says:

@marcoesq: we have an proposed amendment to the MN state constitution to vote that marriage be defined as one man, on woman. Needless to say, I’m voting NO on this proposed amendment.

You should have told that lady that she is lucky that you didn’t smack her lips to her ass, and just said what you said. :)

first half of 10/30 II is massive but fades pretty hard. still one of my fav sets I ever caught

    but set II NICU

Caspian and Golgi kind of fizzed out. they earned it by then no doubt though.

not a big NICU fan though. hate set II versions for some reason.

I am for people getting married that want to, regardless of gender.

I will bet anything that the money behind promoting gay marriage as a political issue are the divorce lawyers lining up future clientele.

Mad Max is quite apt. In no danger of running out of herbs. One of the preparations that was made, a 1/2 Zip of freshies.

Next few days will be interesting if power and gas lines aren’t restored. People are starting to lose it a little.

Heading into the belly of the beast tomorrow at 3am. Downtown manhattan. No traffic lights. Everyman for themselves.

    @roberto luongo re:VU ’98

i was a big vu fan in high school (i still am to this day) and i was so stoked on that ’98 cover. i remember a lot of the fan base being perplexed, but not pissed. i do feel that, in general, phish phans are more opened minded about music now than they were in the ’90′s. i remember quite a few kids in lot thinking i was crazy if i listened to anything but hip hop, bluegrass, reggae, funk, gd, or phish.

  21. marcoesq Says:

So ridiculous to stand outside for hours in the rain and post hurricane cold to spread your hate against something that doesn’t affect you whatsoever.

That Stash>Manteca>Tweez is on my gym iPod and has gotten about 100 plays from me in the past year. That drop from Teca>Tweez is one of my all time favorite segues. I remember listening to some old shitty AUD recording through Napster back Freshman year of college and freaking out over that drop every single time

    “Phil is the man”

    agreed

  24. roberto luongo Says:

    perplexed works heady

I’d say though less than 10% of that building had ever heard that album in it’s entirety.

  25. roberto luongo Says:

I was a pretty closed minded phish kid till about summer 97. started collecting vinyl and pretty much got into everything good after that. stopped listening to the more hippy stuff.

sold all my original VU vinyl pressings for dope back in the day. felt it was fitting but kinda sad pretty collectible albums these days in great condition. especially that unpeeled banana cover.
