Election Music

One Nation Under a Groove (Thepin Stash)

Not to trivialize today’s important election, but if you’re a fan of great Phish, there is really only one choice. Just look at recent history. Bill Clinton took office in 1993, the beginning the band’s first peak era. Clinton served two terms through 2000, watching over’s Phish’s glory years, and at the end of his term, Phish called it quits for the first time. George W. Bush, arguably the biggest buffoon to ever sit in the Oval Office, was sworn in at the beginning of 2001 and served two terms during which the band managed to crank out merely 1 and 1/2 years of opiate-laced jamming in ’03 and ’04. Enter Barack Obama in 2009. Less than two months after the Democratic victor was inaugurated, Phish came back at Hampton Coliseum and entered the Golden Age of their career, playing their tails off for the last four years. So here we are at the political crossroads of 2012. Under a Democratic White House, we experienced ’93, ’94, ’95, ’96, ’97, ’98, ’99, 2000, ’09, ’10, ’11, and ’12. Under a Republican watch, the band came into their own during the late ’80s and early ’90s, and graced us with ’03 and half of ’04. Those are the facts—and the choice is yours. Vote wisely, my friends!

On Election Day 2012, I bring you three choice cuts from each of the past four years. And here’s to four more years of Democratic Phish!

Yeah kaya…it’s tough to beat the long delightful fall and spring seasons here. You know. I just did a quick walk through my garden, gonna have to get out there for a bit today, maybe throw some discs tomorrow. And now wondering how I can cook some pork shanks on the grill…could be good with collards, roasted potatoes/carrots, and cornbread washed down with some dark suds. I love fall.

excellent read for you stoner phucks. this guy lays out the history of OG better than I’ve seen. story very close to all the combined rumors i’ve heard:

I do know what went into the making of OG. I was their. The original name was not OG. And yes the posted is right that the Kush part was applied by people who sampled it ,thus the name change. They felt it resembled a Kush taste at the time. If any kush is in the strain then it is on the ChemDog side of it. The land race part was crossing a Oaxacan with a Thai to make Lemon Thai. This was the male used to create the first genertion. What was done different is testing the male for potency. Most people believe that males contain NO THC. This is not true. They contain a very small amount, not enough to get high but enough to test . About a hundred males were tested and the highest THC plant was chosen. The one chosen was tested at a whoping .8 percent. This seems stupid but what was gained was going from 12% thc as being the highest recorded thc level in a strain to well over 20%. The original OG they kept was really over 30% but this isn’t the strain that we see today. The seeds from that first generation got into the wrong hands Via a hermi( probably light induced as the indoor room standards are not the same as they are today) and walla a clone only strained renamed OG. There were 3 competing OG’s at the time from the hermi that got distributed. The F1 OG , not from clone, is around but you will probably never see it. I have seen a few stories in High Times and on the internet that if combined give you the true story. This Story here is very close accept that Paki B.S.( most other internet refrences get this part right accept the only other post on the internet the humguy found) and how the strain got to SoCal( no one got beans that were not from a hermi)…So both posters are correct… It is Sativa dominant but it sure isn’t from SOcal.

Attack me if you want, but i sleep well at night knowing the truth like a few other souls out there in the world

    and here’s the rest:

The one thing I do know is what went into the Lemon Thai. There is no kush in this strain. Yes this was the “secret ingredient” but the secret lies in the research performed on the male. This male research bumped THC levels almost by triple the amount on the market. I will not make the claim this is the only strain at the time at over 20%( anyone in a breeding program could have hit the lottery with the male selected) but the only strain that was commercially available at this level thanks to a certain guy who got the hermi beans. I will not also claim that there is not any kush in it because we really did not know what the ChemDog had in it’s lineage. Even though “The Dog” was associated with the group that started OG, he did not divulge all of his breeding. I suppose that the Paki could be in the ChemDog. On the original strain of OG, they felt that the long tested gland standard to ripeness didn’t do it justice and found color of the bud to be more of a way to know when peak THC hit.The color starts to darken, almost oxidizing, in it’s appearance but really this means nothing as the strains available are not what they worked with. I have personally worked with the Silverback OG lately and this does ripen within “dope scope” specs. The other one I have worked with is the OG that came from of all people, now get this: Snoop Dogg. Call Bullshit, but this OG was given out in about 98′ with a Bubba too from the famous Dogg ( different than Dog of ChemDog). When he gave them out to “Pistol” he had for both strains different names other than OG and Bubba. These hit the shelf renamed because “Pistol” knew what he had come across. Anyways, back to the point, I still have this OG and it is very similar to SFV OG, if not the same. This strain likes 60 days minimum to finish and can go as long as 80 before it hermies out. The “dope scope” works but what I look for is an almost full amber right before the shroom starts to separate or break. Probably doesn’t help as you might not have either of these strains
