Late-Night Shows @ Mercury Lounge

Instead of seeing the same late-night acts that permeate the jam scene, check out some local, New York City psych-rock bands after Phish is done on the 29th and 30th! Here is some more information from Sam Davis of Dog Gone Blog:

We at Dog Gone Blog are very excited to bring you the lineup for our upcoming run of late night shows leading up to NEW YEAR’S EVE!

Following last year’s soiree with Superhuman Happiness and special guest Colin Stetson (Bon Iver, Arcade Fire), due to popular demand, the Brooklyn ensemble will once again grace us with their presence on December 30. This year we’re also psyched to be hosting a second show on the 29th with Real Estate bassist Alex Bleeker and his band of Freaks along with rising Brooklyn psych-rock outfit Prince Ruperts Drops.

Both shows are taking place at Mercury Lounge on New York’s Lower East Side (217 East Houston St) and will have liquid light shows provided by Planetary Projections. Posters designed by the amazing Justin Gabbard will also be available for purchase. Stay tuned to Dog Gone Blog to hear about special guests and other announcements in the coming weeks.

Had a great time tonight. Great show at MSG to
add to the archives. Some nice playback value I imagine. Had a great section of peeps in 222…no complaints.

    Head is spun…looking forward to
the next couple nights. 6th row back behind center stage tomorrow…better look sharp

What a great opener! Had no idea Tweezer was 21 min, not to mention a15 min Bowie

Had awesome rear stage seats just to Page’s right. Most unusual / unique viewpoint all year. Could even see page’s fingerwork on the bany grand and hear his monitor. Light show was radically different as we were practically onstage (first row section 114)

Band was relaxed, confident, playful, and it showed big time

Stash was nice, KDF started to get hot, and them they let it rip in Wolfman’s, terrific set 1 jam

Tweezer featured a sick ass trey solo, Maze was way better than expected, and Twist likewise great. Remainder of set had great energy and then Bowie was terrific. Excellent jazzy interplay, also totally caught me by surpise

MSG staff laid back, crowd full of energy but not overly lit

Def.a terrific kickoff to the 4 night extravanganza. Does appear the bandpracticed!

I was on the webcast, by I the building, but to these ears stash was cool (really pulled back, blue lighting vibe), Wolfie hot, tweezer>maze smoking, twist and Bowie all proper. Seemed like a great show.
