Miner’s Top 10 of 2012

12.28.12, MSG (Graham Lucas)

It took a ton of deliberation, crossing out and remaking lists to come up with my favorite jams of 2012. I pondered not even trying to pare down Phish’s prolific year to a “Top 10” because there are plenty more jams that are outstanding, but when it comes down to it, these are my favorite pieces of music from 2012. Don’t read too much into the rankings, as deciding on an order was quite the ordeal and I flip-flopped places many times before settling on this one. Enjoy the music and come back next Friday to check out the ten jams that I would put just behind these. A great weekend to all.

10. “Down With Disease” 12.30 II, MSG

9. “Rock and Roll > Ghost” 8.15 II, Long Beach, CA

8. “Twist” 6.22 II, Cincinnati

7. “Light > Ghost” 7.1 II, East Troy, WI

6. “Carini” 12.30 II, MSG

5. “Crosseyed > Light” 8.19 II, San Francisco, CA

4. “Chalk Dust Torture” 8.31 II, Denver, CO

3. “Undermind” 8.31 II, Denver, CO

2. “Tweezer” 12.28 II, MSG

1. “Light” 9.1 II, Denver, CO

For those that don’t etree, are those CM shows popping up elsewhere? Love the ’99 juice!

  17. Mr. Palmer Says:

That 6/24/95 show that Miller put up is a good one.

This is the show where the goth chick sat next to me during the opening Fee with the two rats ( one white one black) in her hands. Freaked me out until she left a song or two later.

  18. MiA Says:

    Just rolled into Starlake ‘Paug.

    WOoo HOoo!

  19. Corey Says:

Well…after 8 months in utero, the last 7 days in/out of induced labor attempts in 2 kliniks…and after nearly 18 hours in labor…

In the wee early (or wayy late) hours of January 27, Emmett Marley Lareau became the most beautiful music we’ve ever heard.

Crowning strong at 4:20 and fully realized at 4:30am…just sayin’ 🙂

One more for the bb, from across the pond. Oh, and what tune helped finish the job, you ask? Why, one lovely Carini; wife’s choice. What an incredible week and truly amazing woman. SHE is my hero, forevermore.

Oh, went to check on Trey and it seems he was finishing his Saturday night 1/26 show with Push On ‘Til The Day and O-o-o Child. Some things simply seem to be much more than coincidence.

Thanks to all of you who have offered kind words along the way, encouragement and a ton of things to listen, read, discover and research. This black board has been a beautiful place to hang, lurk and jab for these past few years. Can’t wait for 2013 PHiSH and my young boy to dance.

May the Mellowist of Moods rock you ALL.

    awww yeeeah.

love the multiple movements of many phish jams these days. so cohesive and fluid. band members exchanging multiple ideas at the same time incredibly cohesively. ideas flow together from one to the next like butta.

like knitting a psychedelic tapestry of sound.

or a massive doily for the couch.

  21. thedayman Says:

congrats @corey. must be an unimaginably incredible feeling.

  22. Luther T. Justice Says:

    Congrats Corey!

  23. voopa Says:

  24. Mr. Palmer Says:

    Awesome Corey! Congrats.

  25. sumodie Says:

Corey, that’s awesome news!!! My very best to D and Emmett. G sends his regards too. Hope everything else in Deutschland has been working out as well
