Miner’s Top 10 of 2012

12.28.12, MSG (Graham Lucas)

It took a ton of deliberation, crossing out and remaking lists to come up with my favorite jams of 2012. I pondered not even trying to pare down Phish’s prolific year to a “Top 10” because there are plenty more jams that are outstanding, but when it comes down to it, these are my favorite pieces of music from 2012. Don’t read too much into the rankings, as deciding on an order was quite the ordeal and I flip-flopped places many times before settling on this one. Enjoy the music and come back next Friday to check out the ten jams that I would put just behind these. A great weekend to all.

I’ve never been very enthusiastic about music videos but this one is exceedingly tripped out:

Cirrus, by electronic artist Bonobo. Highly recommended. Music seems alright too, never listened to this artist before

  2. Mr. Palmer Says:

those little baby grand fills page throws in from 1745-~18 of dicks light get me every time. i always think im rocking to that section, but when he lays them down it takes me up a notch

  18. RoosterPizza Says:

@mr miner or anyone who remembers:

On one of his spots on Sirius Jam On after leg one, he was talking about meeting up with someone in the “pit” or right in front of the stage in a good spot before a solid jam. I remember listening to him talk it up and enjoying the jam, but I have no clue which song or venue it was. I think it was something in the second set at Alpine Valley or Deer Creek, but it also may have been Alpine Valley Fee.

I would like to retract my KC tweez > MSG tweez statement from the other day. After close examination, MSG tweez > KC tweez.

  20. joe Says:

7/12/99 Bowie is a good one. my memory was correct.

  21. Mr. Palmer Says:

I’ve said it a hundred times.. ’99 is a great Phish year. I could listen to this stuff all day, and now that Miller put these shows out, I probably will.

The spacey, washy tone is freaking awesome.

  22. kayatosh Says:

  23. Calpain Says:

    VW, I assume you’ve heard:

  25. vegas wolfmans Says:

Sumo- He played here in Bellingham last October, which was awesome because I’d had a love affair with the record all last summer. Fun show. He basically just played the album, but the dude has some stage presence. Translated well live. Encore of Lennon’s Mind Games was $$$$.

You listen to that Goat album? Full frontal assault.
