Rounding out 2012′s Top 40…

40. “Sneakin’ Sally > Ghost” 7/6 II, Saratoga Springs, NY

The meat of SPAC’s first night, one of the strongest two-setters of Leg One.

39. “Piper” 9/2 II, Denver, CO

Dick’s “Piper” is short, sweet and to the point.

37. “Golden Age” 6/25 II, Atlanta, GA

A dirty, underrated jam of Leg Two.

36. ”Down With Disease” 6/22 II, Cincinnati, OH

35. ”Seven Below” 6/23 II, Burgettstown, PA

Though an afterthought to Star Lake’s massive “Mike’s Groove,” this jam is quite unique and noteworthy.

34. ”Twist” 7/4 II, Wantagh, NY

38. “Light” 6/16 II, Atlantic City, NJ

The band is totally hooked up in the first “Light” of the year, and it was laced with “Manteca.”

33. “Light” 7/8 II, Saratoga Springs, NY

A spectacular version which, in retrospect, I think is better than the “Piper” later in the set.

32. ”Golden Age > Prince Caspian” 9/1 II, Denver, CO

The beginning-of-the-set lead in to the Denver “Light” with smoking playing throughout.

31. “Chalk Dust Torture > What’s the Use?” 8/25 II, Atlanta, GA

This outstanding “Chalk Dust” foreshadowed what would go down at Dick’s a week later. This jam certainly should have been in the previous ten jams if not higher.

    holy shit. nice one M.

My sis in-law just had a baby tonight after 52 hours in active labor. The human body is a miraculous machine.

  2. acleo Says:

    Where’s the Charlotte BFFCFM? ^

  3. acleo Says:

    Dark stout version …

  4. RoosterPizza Says:

It’s a bummer Light didn’t go there at Lakewood.

  5. MiA Says:

    Happy Friday everyone…

Great list. 40+ great tracks to this year.

  6. Mr. Palmer Says:

They should play a 3 day , Gamhenge themed show at Dick’s this year just to mess with everyone. Shenanegins galore.

  7. notkuroda Says:

Thanks for the great writing Mr Miner. Just gotta say, I think you overlooked the Charlotte Tweezer. I know there were quite a few GREAT Tweezers this year, but I would put this one behind the MSG version. Should definitely be in the top 40 somewhere. Other than that, keep up the great work!

  8. xpun Says:

    Congrats uncle pig

    We got spoiled in 12.

Listening to 12-30-99 mikes groove. Had my kids speechless on the ride to school. I told them to pretend they were on an evil train ride.

Sad that there’s 1 paug and 0 mikes in the top 40.

  9. SillyWilly Says:

Thanks for rounding out the list, Mr. Miner!

  10. Snigglebeach Says:

If the rumored dates are true, I’m sure many like myself would have to make a choice between fest and favorite sheds in NE. I don’t think I can afford 5 or 6 shows plus a festival and have money in bank for Halloween or thanksgiving.

But I also agree that Pocono would be an ideal spot for a fest. And would find a way. (I get shut out of every Halloween anyway.)

  11. SillyWilly Says:

I’ve gotta save the personal relationship capital as much as the capital capital

In 2010, I set out to see one specifically Phish experience every year:

    I saw Halloween in 2010.
    MSG ’12.

Now I need to cross a festival off the list so that will be priority #1.

Truth be told, can probably have a great summer seeing midwest runs and Festi.

Hold out for some Fall Tour magic…

but Gorge or Dick’s or Bill Graham is gonna get sexy down the stretch

  12. MiA Says:

I could listen to CCCC Halley’s every day.

Is the ultimate commute to work song

  13. Wolfmansfather Says:

An astroid crashed and something burned

  16. Willowed Says:

Page, play this solo like you were hit in the head by a comet!

  17. Kaveh Says:

    Happy Friday BBers!

Am I reading this top 40 correct and seeing that is only on piece from the two night of Alpine on it? @Miner; what up with that?

  18. gavinsdad Says:

@sumo and others – was pleasantly surprised to come into work this am and find a vinyl copy of Holydrug Couple on my desk. Guy in philly ran one of the best vinyl shops called Tequila Sunrise, it’s no longer open. but he sells online.

I will continue to pimp his site..some of the best and most obscure recordings you’re gonna find, you just need a turntable. Worst cast scenario educate yourself and find the digital on the webz.

    Hundreds injured by breaking glass

  21. sumodie Says:

Gdad, nice score. Really liking their latest. One band member plays in both Holydrug Couple and Föllakzoid

  22. Dorn76 Says:

    made me wonder

  23. xpun Says:

spaced trey nso onsale (i blame you 6-24-95 stash). hopped on 3 minutes late, struggled to find number, went to site, nice interactive pick your seat map which my dumb ass couldn’t figure out how to get two tickets too, finally figured out site, lost two seats off center 20 rows back, but scored 2 first row tier 1. should be a nice night.

  24. Dorn76 Says:

Was SBIX announced at same time as leg 1 dates in ’10?

  25. gavinsdad Says:

front row of most balconies/loges are money @xpun. always a great vantage point
