TTFF: 1996—The Transitional Year
Inspired by some recent banter in the Twittersphere…

Right off the bat in Hershey, the band dropped this opening sequence

“Tweezer” 8.14 II, Hershey, PA
Legend has always said it that this Herhsey show before The Clifford Ball wasn’t so hot. I never understood that assessment. Here’s another reason why.

Speaking of “Remain in Light,” I saw this Tweet yesterday and I immediately agreed.
RT @pfcidb: there’s greatcurve from halloween96, and then there’s every other attempt at covering the heads, ever. #facts

Nice Miner, is that you offering me first cracker it? ‘Cause I’d be glad to. Assume you’d want it sometime by afternoon tomorrow?
Ah phone posting… Should have been “first crack at it,” because “first cracker it” is very clearly not a sentance
So I’m gonna go ahead and give you from a REAL RELIABLE source, Gorge, Tahoe, and Greek are the West Coast Venues. Tahoe 30, 31st and Greek 2,3,and 4th of August. I’ll even throw out the old bb FACT.
So get your tarps and line up your migrant line holders.
Re: Phish calling it quits to avoid becoming a novelty act:
This band blows me away time and time again. I’ve seen them almost 200x and would go 200 more. But it doesn’t seem like the band pays Phish the attention they did in ’09. They played Halloween shows, an acoustic set, Tweezer Reprise 5x in 3 shows because they wanted to, and the last 2 years while the jams have been great, sometimes it seems that they are going through the motions.
Maybe if they wrote setlists again, they wouldn’t play Moma and Funky Bitch back-to-back in the first set every third show. Play Lifeboy instead of Show of Life. Play Piper in the 1st again. More second set Gins and Melts. We will not criticize them for playing what they love if they shake it up a bit. I’d be sorry to hear that all the criticism got to Trey.
I’m hoping if this summer is another swan song, it mirrors the experimentation and risk-taking of June 2004.
almost brought to tears here at work with my morning coffee listening to this slave. I feel like an emotional SillyWilly.
Just set up the DVR for Subday Morning
“Possible changes for the Roman Catholic Church; actress Lena Dunham; actress Rita Moreno; singer Trey Anastasio. (news) 1 hr 30 min.”
The sky is falling, the sky is falling…..
Sunday Am with Yegelle Tezeta by Mulatu Astatke. Groovin beats.
Did anyone see this on reddit a couple of weeks ago?

This was the group that helped to make this happen.

That interview ended with a major positive. He’s ready to write new music.
Whoever put those clips together did a pretty good job. Pham at CBS, methinks.
people who were thinking that was going to be negative clearly never watch CBS Sunday morning. it is always positive, feel good stuff. which is part of why we watch it regularly.
nice little piece. had me smiling for Trey the whole time. he’s in a really good place. and totally agree on the editing, pig!
Can anyone post the most recently rumored dates? Still missing a festi?
It appears Hands on a Hard Body is to blame for the lack of new Phish. I always thought that musical was up to no good.
Nice to hear there were no surprises. That was an odd rumor mill. Any jams? Whose got my 3-10-13 CBS Sun Morning setlist?
At JFK, always a blast. If anyone has any Park City, UT recs I’d love to hear ’em.
Happy Sunday folks. Bloody Mary and a nap imminent.
Everyone has their own agenda with Phish. That’s not gonna change.
On our end, that norovirus paid our daughter a visit last nite. 11 hours. Both ends. Getting sips of liquids into her now. She refuses pedialyte liquid and awaits a blue raspberry pedialyte freezer pop. Mom a champ. Dad filling in by doing wash, doing dishes, and covering my sons. Hope none of u have to deal with this. Pretty gnar.
I didnt realize Trey had been working on that musical for 4 years. That guy has a pretty impressive work ethic.
Now that its done, how about a new Phish record?
Mulatu Astatke! Netsanet>Yegelle Tezeta>Yekatit> Yekermo Sew
Major respect Halcyon
I think that the broadway stuff and other ventures he takes on is a big positive. It keeps the creative juices flowing, he isn’t getting burnt out on tour playing just phish material, and its an outlet for all the cheese. Let’m have burn that bridge and we’ll keep the steam.
This iPad has paddle’n protection, nice
I got some of that Ethiopian jazz on the broken flowers soundtrack, maybe one of the best soundtracks ever. Maybe not as good as the big chill, but that’s a tough one to beat.
Glad CBS was all good vibes…seemed like such a screwy rumor anyways
So Trey’s ready to write new music, yes!
So that means Trey hasn’t written any new music yet, boo!
ugh. best vibes to the little one, gdad. the norovirus ran through here last year. dreadful weekend all around. I hope you are personally able to avoid it. I was not so lucky then.
