TTFF: 1996—The Transitional Year

8.4.96 Red Rocks

8.4.96 Red Rocks

Inspired by some recent banter in the Twittersphere…

Wilson > Disease” 8.14 I, Hershey, PA

Right off the bat in Hershey, the band dropped this opening sequence

Mike’s > Lifeboy” 8.13 II, Noblesville, IN

An adventurous mid-’90s “Mike’s” in the yet-to-be developed Cornfields of Deer Creek.

Tweezer” 8.14 II, Hershey, PA

Legend has always said it that this Herhsey show before The Clifford Ball wasn’t so hot. I never understood that assessment. Here’s another reason why.

Mike’s Song” 10.29 II, Tallahassee, FL

A percussion-drenched “Houses in Motion” jam laces the latter part of this jam in the final show before their seminal “Remain In Light” Halloween set.

The Great Curve” 10.31 II, Atlanta, GA

Speaking of “Remain in Light,” I saw this Tweet yesterday and I immediately agreed.

If you’re not familiar…

Crosseyed > Antelope” 11.2 II, West Palm Beach, FL

The band began to shape-shift on the first night after Halloween as Karl Perazzo stayed on tour for a few.

Tweezer” 11.11 II Grand Rapids, MI

A post-Halloween signpost on the long road to Cow Funk.

2001 > Llama” 12.6 I, Las Vegas, NV

One of the early, jammed-out versions from the final night of tour.

Tweezer” 12.1 II, Los Angeles, CA

Three “Tweezers” on Friday? I dig it. This is a monster from the tail end of Fall Tour.

Slave to the Traffic Light” 8.17 II, Plattsburgh, NY

An all-time classic.

Don’t remember seeing it here, but dont’t overlook the newly released Jimi album”People, He’ll, and Angels” of all previously unreleased material. It’s on Spotify.

Pac NW native son was the original Jedi.
What he produced in just four years in the spotlight is ridiculous.

Evening friends. Winding down a Sunday evening which saw our little mouse wake up super early and took a 15 minute nap today when I went for a walk with her. I was wondering why she felt lifeless when holding her on a walk, she had sunglasses on and had no idea she was sleeping for 10 minuites. Wrapped up filing taxes and kicking back with a Shed IPA.

Cool interview, I know some people who are really into the theater and after the reviews of the La Jolla run of Hands on a Hardbody, they are excited this is making it to Broadway.

Off to listen to some of T3’s Alpha Uber List.

^^^ nice, halcyon. little ones ftw.

had a few precious moments today as well. took first bike ride w/ son around the neighborgood. watchin his face as he rode downhill and felt that feelin of cruisin/sailin. pure sweetness. vicarious experience ; flashback to youth.

and then there’s the choice of tone in any given moment. e.g, reaction to son smacking wiffle balls out of the yard. make a big stink: “that ball was jacked!” when indeed it was, or play it cool? build a kid’s sense of self-worth w/ enthusiasm for a job well-done or teach humility in the face of victory? all a matter of balance.

have been thoroughly engrossed in’s live chess in the evening hours. 10 mins a side games. have played faceless individuals from all over the world. mexico, canada, india, iran, phillipines, yemen, belgium . . .

  13. Spasm Waiter Says:

    8 mins sounds about right

  14. MiA Says:

  17. MiA Says:

Good times Luther. Loved looking over my shoulder to see you and Tela’s shaking your heads afterwards like I was…

    It was grounding.

  18. sumodie Says:

Gackk! Flights for westward fantasy phish dates fuglier than last year. If PHINC doesn’t release all summer dates thru Dick’s…….

….or if only I hadn’t gotten my other half into Phish….

So much happens on Tuesday (hopefully)

  19. tela'smuff Says:

the SBIX Simple gets better and better with age. kind of a masterpiece imo.

@sumo – tuesday is big. if the latest round of dates are right, Chicago and Dicks for me. i’m ok with that. more money and time for Fall Tour.

  20. BingosBrother Says:

Why wouldn’t you be okay with that? Chicago alone would be a dream come true.

  21. PigSong Says:

    What’s the Chicago rumor?

  22. littleumbrellas Says:

Just sittin down with my lady friend to watch Stop Making Sense. Somehow she made it to 30 without seeing it. Her first time. Enjoy by and Sour D included. Peace!

  23. Dorn76 Says:

    Utah brew check in:

Uinta Dubhe Imperial Black IPA (brewer with hemp seeds?) & Squatters Hop Rising DIPA.

They make good beers here in Mormon country. I’d recommend both as great examples of their styles. Not $$$, but definitely $$.

  24. MiA Says:

I have a tape i’d like to play

  25. Dorn76 Says:

Moab nut brown ale though, just go ahead and skip that one.
