7-4-2012 (George Estreich)

Tweezer” 9.3.11 II, Commerce City, CO

One of the most cathartic grooves in ages. This jam brought it all together at the first Dick’s stand.

Simple” 8.6.10 II, Berkeley, CA

A very cool, experimental jam from The Greek.

Disease -> What’s the Use?” 8.14.10 II, East Troy, WI

Perhaps the most natural transition of the modern era comes—and a fiery jam, taboot.

A Song I Heard the Ocean Sing” 7.3.11 I, Watkins Glen, NY

The lone jam from the song following SPAC ’04, immediately integrated the ambient style from the Storage Jam the night before.

***

Piper > Mist” 8.9.10 II, Telluride, CO

This “Piper” provided a seething centerpiece to the first night in the Rockies.

Sneakin Sally” 6.4.11, Cuyahoga Falls, OH

This funk jam goes buckwild, transcending normal territory into dissonant, robo-grooves.

Bathtub Gin” 8.7.09 II, George, WA

This “Gin” anchored a non-stop second set of this ’09 show that is still among the best of the modern era.

Twist” 6.22.12 II, Cincinatti, OH

I recently wrote an entire piece on this jam.

Waves” 6.28.12 II, Noblesville, CA

This late-set gem was the only “Waves” jam the band played last summer.

Harry Hood” 6.2.09 II, Wantagh, NY

This was the first jam in 3.0 that I legitimately bugged on. An amazingly original take on a classic tale.

definitely the setting for a Stephen King novel there.

  2. IrieWalton Says:

Man, I’m 3,000+ miles away from the venue and I’m getting pre-tour jitters. If the boys come out on fire, as I think they will, I’ll be grabbing a ticket to the Gorge in addition to our BGCA plans.

On that note, does anyone have any space to accommodate a non-wook in their RV, yurt, custy crib, etc.? I’m likely rolling solo, if I go, to the Gorge so I would like to link up with some kind folks, if possible. Hit me up: beantownboy35 at ghee mail.

Hope all’s well and glad to see that Kaya’s SF plans remain intact. Life’s a roller coaster, indeed.

    Travel safe and rage hard.

  7. kenny powers Says:

haha, they just teased a short Tube clip on PBS

  8. Phamily Berzerker Says:

My name is Phamily Berzerker and I have a phish problem. For a while I could catch a show here or there. no problems. Then I wanted to see more. One was not enough. I was younger then and thought it was the thing to to do. I had it under control. No consequences that seemed out of the norms of my peers. Slowly, many of my social circle dropped off. I didn’t get as many calls from friends or make many calls to friends as much.
All I did was think about phish. When is the next tour? What is a new show I need to hear right fucking now. I have gotten the compulsion removed but thoughts still poke out at times about being at a phish show or listening to a phish show.

It has been going well lately but if I am honest with summer tour kicking off tomorrow it has gotten worse for me and I now find myself with a browser window open to travelocity looking for flights to Portland, ME.

    Summer Tour, FotherMuckers!

  9. plord Says:

Arrived in Bangor. Rained buckets on and off much of the drive, glad I brought hiking boots for tomorrow. Transport to and from the venue looks like a hassle.

ME Speed traps already out in force!

  10. MiA Says:

So jealous of those going tomorrow.

    Get some! Get some baby!

  11. DavidSilver Says:

Smart programing having trey in the closer role, but shit, I hate them for it.

  15. jdub Says:

Let’s hope for more sun than cloud tomorrow. Maybe dry out the field just a little. Either way, gonna be a muddy mess.

  16. P.S.H.S Says:

Definitely misread that page sighting article yesterday. 14 of 16 k tickets sold so far. My buddy is in Bangor chillin with the venue manager, he just got a tour of the venue and said its real nice spot. Can’t wait, should be a rager.

  17. kayatosh Says:

thanks for the bangor shot. cool perspective.

and thanks for the vibes, folks. The dark clouds have lifted. celebrated coming through adversity and reaching a new state of harmony and peace by buying a pax.

    happy maine lining, folks.

  18. ren Says:

@plord-definitely bringing my boots now! I gathered the same idea about getting around up there…thinking its a walk-able 45-60 mins if worst comes to worst?…halfway pitstop?…although I’ve got a pretty yellow taxi thumb

  19. DavidSilver Says:

6 year old says “a lot of boys like phish.”

  20. joe Says:

that was the other thing about the bangor news photos from limestone. girls used to like phish too.

  21. Luther T. Justice Says:

    Great Trey piece on PBS

  22. phishm Says:

    Unfortunately girls like DMB. Sucks.

  23. P.S.H.S Says:

Good piece on PBS. breaking news of a new album? Has that been publicly stated before?

  24. P.S.H.S Says:

Gotta go to PBS for hot takes
