Tweezer” 8.31 II

This late-set surprise completely blew up as Trey prominently featured his Camden ’09 “Tweezer” lick plucked from Led Zeppelin’s “When the Levee Breaks.”

Sand” 8.30 II

This jam provided the centerpiece of night one; the best version in a light summer for “Sand.”

***

Chalk Dust Torture” 8.31 II

The jam of the weekend at Dick’s—a multi-thematic monster anchored by the morphing rhythms of Jon Fishman.

Stash” 8.30 I

Though not quite on the level of Merriweather’s gem, this version elevates beyond the norm.

Carini” 9.1 II

A feel-good jam to cap a feel-good summer.

Caspian > Piper” 9.1 II

The second consecutive, out-of-character Denver “Caspian” segued, unfinished into a hot “Piper.”

Ocelot” 8.30 I

This was the jam with which the weekend began to elevate; my favorite version of the three thousand played this year.

***

Bathtub Gin” 8.31 I

A straightforward, though peaked-out and inspirational “Gin.”

Say Something > Walls of the Cave” 8.30 II

It didn’t take long for the band to place “Say Something” in the second set. Look for big things from this jam come fall tour.

Wow @T3 no Colo? Blasphemy. Indiana. Really? Glad to see the homeland rep’d however. Go PA go!

  2. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

jerome, it isn’t about which state brews the best. it is about what states sell the best beers. essentially this list shows the power of distribution. note the highlighted breweries under each state.

  3. phishm Says:

I would imagine that Trey will take about as much from a random letter from a fan as I do. Good laugh is about it.

  4. BingosBrother Says:

Pedicure is essential pretour activity. Alpines lawn will make your feet a nightmare if you don’t.

  5. bobby weird Says:

good thing i was at the (turrible) Pats game last night and not on the bb as i would have had lots to say regarding the Pats bashing, some of which is justified — much of it not — and seems overly intense imo.

i must reject the ‘amondola got hurt b/c he was out of shape’ comment, b/c anyone that followed training camp knows he came in in incredible shape and was one of the biggest gym rats/practice contributors on the entire team. yes he is fragile. but he “was” welker the first game, is less expensive, and is 5 years welker’s junior. Pats didn’t let welker walk due to some “petty personal grudge” as someone speculated, but b/c Bill believed amondola, despite his injury potential, was better in the long run than the much older welker. time will tell on that decision.

and the pats have zero investment in the future on defense after Wilfork??? did you see Chandler Jones two sacks last night? i think the team had either 4 or 5. sure, its the Jets, but the Pats D has not been known to get to the QB at all in recent years.seems like youthful upside to me.

Plus Mayo is teriffic and young, Hightower good and even younger. Gregory is solid… etc.

  6. Luther T. Justice Says:

I have a feeling the Baby’s Ass does some man-scaping too but let’s not talk about that.

  7. Jerome Garcia Says:

Ah saw that. Gotcha. Thx. Well I’ll certainly be looking to scoop some tasty brews not avail in TX next time I’m visiting the old home place in PA. Distribution certainly the greatest in the NE, then midwest i.e. greater Chicago area, then Cali. You kids up north have an embarassment of riches.

Diggin a little AM funk w/ Orgone. Yep. Jerome approved.

  8. ren Says:

I trusted Stoney…I clicked the Babys Ass link.

Some things cannot be undone. Safe to say I will not be returning there. Doing it wrong

  9. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

this will never not be funny

that’s about all the time/energy I have for pats talk

  10. Stoney Case Says:

bobby weird, please bring your NFL thoughts to the table after the Pats play a varsity team. So far, they’ve beaten two JV teams, barely.

Give us your assessment after the ATL and NO games coming up.

Amendola has never even come close to playing a full season. Groin injury’s happen to guys that don’t warm-up / cool down properly. How do I know? I’ve had them playing hockey. Nobody’s fault but mine.

P.S. I’m glad you were at the game, and not me, as well. So we agree there!

  11. Stoney Case Says:

ren, that’s some disturbing ass shit, eh?

“I wish I wrote that, boohoo.”

  12. bobby weird Says:

c’mon stoney… everyone can bash the Pats after two games but i can’t respond until they play a good team? really?

also, i’m sure you did not just use your own athletic experience to diagnose the cause of an NFL player’s groin injury. i know i misread that. otherwise that’s just funny.

  13. bobby weird Says:

NFL wide receiver (fast runner) at that! c’mon man!

  14. ren Says:

Lolz. Maturity is a fine thing. I’m ok with getting wiser as I age.

  15. Stoney Case Says:

Time will tell, Bobby! I’m sure there were guys that thought the Dead wouldn’t miss a beat with Vince Wellnick.

“c’mon stoney… everyone can bash the Pats after two games but i can’t respond until they play a good team? really?”

ummmmm, yeah. that’s how it works with sports and fans. Pats look like crap against two sub par teams. Their personnel moves are haunting them. So yeah, we can discuss it. And it’s crazy to think there’s this silver lining when they are playing such inept teams. Pats are easily 0-2 with just about any other QB in the league right now. Maybe Peyton gets them to 1-1 with that roster. Nobody else. The young up and coming QB’s would be crushed.

  16. phishm Says:

All I got to say is if you have to defend most of the positions on your team then there may be an issue. I don’t like the pats and never will. don’t watch them so theirs that. Belichick is an ass hole in my book and I don’t like Brady. To each their own. My Packers have some issues too. I’m not going to spout out the younger players and how they will help the team however. Guess that’s what makes it fun. If everyone on here started ripping on the Packers I would find it funny. That’s me however.

  17. tela's_muff Says:

Stoney – it was bad enough reading that train wreck of a Letter to the Band, but the twitter response from babysmouth is just annoying.

so interesting this summer with all the spiritual, church, divinity talk with Phish. no question, when i connect during a jam, it can feel like an out of body experience and that i’ve attached spirituality to phish in my younger days. but as i’ve matured, my focus on spirituality, divinity, whatever, etc has wholly shifted to my wife and kids and brothers. the truly important factor i cannot live without, family. that letter is a perfect example of how far i feel like i’ve shifted from the obsessive nature of phish fans. some of this recent phish talk is so far from where i’m at in life. TLDR is right.

  18. snow Says:

    Morning BB.
Really feeling good this morning after yesterday’s talk.
@vapreham – After thinking about it more, you are right. I think too much.

@MiA- Well said. I don’t always get where you are coming from but that response was apt to me.

I tweeted to phish that Aviv’s letter is ridiculous- so problem solved. Anything else I can help with?

  19. Stoney Case Says:

    right on Tela’s.

the church of Phish with the messianic messenger’s seemed to reach a fever’s pitch this summer.

  20. little umbrellas Says:

This Aviv guy has no idea what he is talking about. That was embarrassing and I didn’t need to read that crap.

‘……Let’s learn together’… as in please don’t break up.
    that was idiotic.

  21. phishm Says:

Well, it’s almost noon. Time to get baked. Fortunately I can do my job while high. Actually for some of my more complicated designs, it takes getting high to see how the connectivity will be achieved from end to end. So I got that going for me. Which is nice.

  22. avila Says:

That letter feels, um, odd. If we survived Jerry’s passing we can survive anything. At this point it appears that the money and pleasure Phish provides the 4 band members is enough to keep it going in some fashion for years to come…even as Trey’s kids go off to college and Fish’s learn to walk.

  23. sumodie Says:

    Providence’s The Living Room!!!

Lost my hearing to the Ramones there in 1987

Played too much beer pong from 88-92 to notice silly bands from VT playing tje Living Room or at oncampus parties

  24. bob dylan Says:

    http://www.blacklistednews.com/19-year-old_inventor_finds_way_to_clean_up_the_world’s_oceans_in_under_5_yea…/28728/0/0/0/Y/M.html?morestories=obinsite

  25. avila Says:

And as far as football…a team like the Pats could be 8-0 or 2-6 come Halloween. It is fun to banter about talk of offense, defense, draft picks gone bad and how groin injuries happen, but only once the leaves are off the trees and the dew becomes frost and fall tour is complete does the NFL season really take shape. By Sunday night Pats will have one of the top 5 defenses in points allowed.
