Ghost” 8.15.98 II, Limestone, ME

The essential nugget of late-Summer ’98 Phish foreshadowed the shift to ambient jamming come the fall. This relatively under-the-radar “Ghost” sneaks into my personal top five.

100 pushups a day, everyday for a month. you’d be lucky to end the month w/o a major injury. same exercise to an excessive degree, everyday = not smart.

better to hold planks, sideplanks, and forearm planks to build core strength. pushups shred your shoulders. not great, esp. if you’re old(ish)

I’ve been doing pushups (almost) everyday trying to get some strength in my arms back. seems to be helping. after doing it for a week my elbows stopped popping on every pushup.

i’m only doing like 20-50 tho depending on how the elbows feel. is it more about how many you are doing or the repetitiveness is the bad part?

  5. lumpyhead Says:

swim if you can, been helping me a lot

Can’t get lastrewind to load…back to 11/22/97. Tahweezer w/ an EB post walk it is.

  7. vapebraham Says:

i’m not a fan of pushing it to reach a predetermined set of reps. as u fatigue, your form slips (provided u had it to begin with) and you invariably put more stress on the upper body — dipping w/o engaging the core or leg muscles.

slow, controlled pushups w/ good form (using abs and legs as well as upper body) are good, provided u don’t have a preexisting shoulder tear or separation. i don’t like the idea of 100 everyday. need days off for the muscles to recover. so many everyday is asking for an injury. and shoulders are stubborn healers.

pullups and chinups also good for overall strength. w/ less shoulder strain, provided you’re not using a straight bar.

    tl/dr: mix it up.

  8. vapebraham Says:

go easy, and listen to your body.

thinking of giving the FUCKYOURFACE show a spin. Been a year or so.. any other contenders?

  11. phishm Says:

I’m glad you said that vape. Now I don’t feel bad never doing push ups. And btw, the Tahoe Tweezer is as good as it gets IMO.

  12. phishm Says:

I guess I should of read ahead. Both shoulders destroyed. I can pop the left one out of it’s socket at will. It hurts if I do so I don’t.

Love when vape keeps it honest. Like for example Bangor GA > Tahweezer 😉 Appreciate you lookin out. Tis sound advice. Fortunate I’ve got two previously uninjured strong shoulders mix it up w/ other xfit olympic lifting manual body weight brief running & walking. Not to mention I’m a deranged former athlete that has has an otherwise psyhcho view of working out. But don’t worry…I’ve got form for days.

  18. Jerome Garcia Says:

Luv ya brutha kaya. All in good fun.

& ftr Tahweezer >> Bangor GA.

  19. Jerome Garcia Says:

@ that 20 min mark lilum. Magic.

  20. RicksFork Says:

JG, Vape speaks the truth about overdoing any exercise. Rest is just as important as the work when trying to build muscle and strength. I am on a pretty intense training program, but only work each muscle group once a week. Abs and cardio are really the only thing that I do every day (or try to). Try mixing up hand position on your push ups too. Hands closer in will work the tricep more, while wider will work chest and shoulders. Also, get one of the multi-position pull-up bars so that you can work back and biceps. Pull ups are the easiest way to get stronger fast. Mix in abs, cardio and bodyweight squats and you can essentially do everything you need to at home. I love beer and good food and my workouts are the only way I can combat the ill affects of both.

  21. RicksFork Says:

JG, you are a wrestler. I forgot. I am sure you know all of this already and didn’t need some dumb ass internet buddy like me telling you how to do it. I just love talking about this stuff and couldn’t help but chime in. Sorry.

  22. Jerome Garcia Says:

Those are triumphant woos. Perhaps only acceptable form. Woo-x couldn’t have stopped that shit. Literally & figuratively.

  23. Jerome Garcia Says:

Ricks James bitch! my man you only add to the gumbo cooking somewhere but good. You cats are right. I’m just nuts. Ha! Bring on the FFC. Got my hundo in for the day.

Also, loved the article about classic albums that are shorter than the Tahweezer. Watching Yanks opening day from a hotel in Buffalo. Gonna put this shitty game on mute, pull a Heady out of my travel beer cooler and listen the Tahweez.
