A Change of Pace

With tour a week away, I wanted to write a note about some changes this summer. I have loved being a one-man newsreel for five years, cranking out pieces before going to sleep each and every night. I have loved the feedback from all Phish fans and I have always enjoyed the conversations that my reviews have sparked. However, I find this Summer Tour to be a good point of transition. As the band enters a new chapter in their 31st year, armed with an album of fresh material, I am going to step away from my at-all-costs commitment to reviewing every show.

This is not to say that I won’t be writing during tour, I almost certainly will. Maybe I’ll write on the off days, maybe I’ll write after some shows—I really don’t know. Because people have come to expect my reviews every day, I just wanted to put it out there before tour that I am not going to hold myself to writing after every show. Perhaps I’ll get bored without writing and I’ll switch back to my old routine. I just don’t know. I am also not positive that I will be at every show. I’m kind of playing this summer by ear. As always, thanks for reading along and I’ll see you out there.

I totally feel like drinking my limit in beer tonight, but I can’t. I mean I could, but that would be irresponsible. I have a huge implementation all week and will be working 12 to 16 hour days. Just thinking about it is making me thirsty. Sucks being an adult sometimes.
Thanks for the site Miner. Sorry to be the crazy one on here. If I can’t be me then I would be confused all the time.
Think I’ll just drink a few. Sure, that always works.

    excitement building.

    the right way.

Hey Phish, wanna sell out the rest of tour? More trips to space camp, less Ocelot rides to Alaska early in tour and watch the phones start ringing at ticket nation.

  3. Mr. Palmer Says:

Pretty positive ( and MIA reminded me) that I badgered Shapiro about releasing this Fee in soundboard months ago… So, thanks Kevin!

I get Miner’s point about the WTU in the LB. I love it, and happy to have another taste of one, but I kinda had hoped for the 6/24/95 Mann Bowie. I think the next night (what a Mike’s) has been out in SBD for a while.

Funny, I swear that Mike’s has a huge Immigrant Song tease in it, and the phish.net crew are oblivious.

I had some friends go to those shows in ’95, but wasn’t GD out there at the same time, and there was a lot of “cross-pollination” in the lots, keeping it extra rainbow’d and shady?

The Fee recording sounds 2x the Atlanta SBD’s. Which is weird. The Gin from Atlanta sounds great. I appreciate the SBD drops but the mastering is kinda half-assed (to look a gift horse in the mouth)

    Exactly Palmer. Electricity was shared…

Happy 2 year anniversary to Star Lake.

Woah, gdiddy, I just fired that one up myself. Late show for me though.

I remember putting this show on during the locals only shortcut through Camden back to your place in ’10. Have to guess it was a Mr. C rec originally, but I don’t know where I got it either…

Choice cuts on the new LB. I have a ticket stub and eyewitness reports that I was present for VA Beach ’99, but remember absolutely nothing from that evening…

  14. Dorn76 Says:

Locals only road to Gdad’s from Camden?

    Roll ’em up, kids.

I just thought I’d share the same sentiment you all have been saying today:

This board is an incredible group of people, and it blows my mind to think that 6 years ago when I started posting here (fairly new to Phish) I was barely a Freshman in High School. I’ve grown a lot since then, and honestly a part of that came from being nurtured and encouraged by some of you on here. I’ve only met a few of you in real life, but I’ve made some fantastic friendships on here. Thank you all for being so great, and thank you Mr. Miner for providing a place where all of us can hang out and talk together. None of this would be possible without you.

Thanks for your dedication Miner, it’s been a pleasure following along. Truly a grand place, this BB land.

^^ What up @BK! You should hit MPP if you can!

    Helpful Hint

When you’re listening to the Dead and maybe you’re also doing something else, shaving kittens maybe, and you’ve lost track of the jam and find yourself asking, “What the hell song did this start out as?”

    It’s always Playing.

GC – it’s helping me get rid of this stack of bills no doubt. i also remember cruising around Westwood in LA that year before getting a burger and you had some FIRE acoustic garcia u put on…no idea what or where from just that crystalline voice comin thru.

  20. vegas wolfmans Says:

Great job indeed, Miner. This place has made me a better listener over the past 5 years. Kudos to you.

  21. gavinsdad Says:

BK always good to see you and glad to hear life is treating you well.

@Dorn – they sent us outta the lot strange that year if i’m remembering correctly. pretty uncool where they funneled us actually at that hour…but yeah, there are some roads between here and there.

  24. mayhem Says:

Holy live bait. I got hit in the head with a flashlight by security and then kicked out of the show because of this Tweezer. For that reason I’m starting with the bathtub
