aj- I was just about to repost that. Solid thoughts about tour so far.

    Non-phish post alert:

Gearing up for my first solo backpack this weekend. SLF took the pup down to CA to visit family friends this morning, figured this was a good chance to get out of the house. 2 days in the Mt. Hood Wilderness, 12 miles, a lake, nothing but what I can carry on my back. Can’t wait.

End non-phish post. Carry on as you were.

  3. marcoesq Says:

Only 1 Fluff this year so far, I’m a fan. Only 1 YEM though also

  4. vegas wolfmans Says:

And that 1 YEM was fantastic (IMO of course).

  5. IrieWalton Says:

    Nice, Telas!

Love that city and that venue is beyond legit. Not a bad spot in that whole place. Also, make sure that you take the ferry to Sausolito one day for lunch. 15-minute ride, but the view of The City and the Golden Gate are sick (and all of the tourists are on the ferries to Alcatraz). Then you arrive in chill Sausolito, have lunch, and either grab the ferry back or rent a bike to ride across the Golden Gate.

  6. Kaveh Says:

@tela: I love North Beach…TONS of great places to eat right on Columbus Avenue. Some breweries around that area as well.

  7. Kaveh Says:

And that 1 YEM was fantastic

    ^ Yes!

  8. Darth Vaper Says:

Great idea CC. Love the Mt. Hood Wilderness.

  9. aj Says:

Anyone going to MPP need a hotel room? My friend has one she is going to cancel, Sheraton, within walking distance.

  10. vapebraham Says:

tela’s: you just got me excited. putting in for SB and the forum. taking the mrs. but not necessarily to the shows.

  11. little umbrellas Says:

@Dusty, didn’t get to play there. But my buddy Adam who runs a restaurant venue in Santa Cruz called the Crepe Place, and who recently got the Balboa Theatre in the Richmond was the guy who put together and ran the 12 Galaxies.

A.P.E opened up the Independent on Divis near by where it used to be and that has pretty much been crushing it in that size/market for a venue… have played the Inde a few times.

-def got to enjoy a few good shows at the 12 Galaxies though. best Kimock I caught was there.

  12. phoammhead Says:

on greek 2010 run bek and i did a tandem bike over golden gate bridge and rode ferry back . . . first and last tandem ride for me . . . that shit ain’t easy, but it was cool blasting bell and mowing through the tourist crowd. once you get that tandem up and running you don’t want to slow down that train.

  13. marcoesq Says:

AJ- Shoot me an email real quick with details/price please. I’ll ask buddy who’s coming down. m h o y t 1 3 at gheemail

  14. tela's_muff Says:

yes, very excited. much needed trip for us. the wife has seen some 40 shows or so, i got her hooked. the kiddos kinda ended that but excited she’s ready to throw down. good food, some nice hilly strolls, and Phish. i’ll take a Dicks>SF>Vegas year of Phish.

  15. little umbrellas Says:

would also recommend the North Beach zone for a hip, yet still clean, somewhat close to the venue vibe for a place to rent… otherwise Air bnb it in the Mission.

Dorn76, probably wont have to any line backing for you at the BGCA i imagine.. maybe so… i dig being on the floor, but last year the BB stayed up on the stairs on the balcony.. was a little too removed for me up there.

  16. IrieWalton Says:

    Nice, Vape.

SB is going to be $$$. Just debating now whether or not to tack on the San Diego show, as well. Luckily, I think the Forum and SD shows you’ll be able to score a ticket on lot given how large they are, so no real need to figure that out now.

As of now I’m only putting in for Eugene, Seattle, and SB.

  17. little umbrellas Says:

    Moonlight death and taxes.

^ supposedly they put something in all their beers that makes em gluten free.

  18. garretcorncob Says:

DarthV, I’ve been up to Hood a dozen times in the winter, but I haven’t yet gotten out there to trek around in the summer. I’m expecting beauty, and won’t leave until I’ve found it.

Will be a great chance to turn off my head for a bit too, get away from the stress that has lately defined my life more than I’d like it to.

  19. IrieWalton Says:

    Awesome, GCC!

Just don’t wind up on KGW after you get lost coming down from Wahkena. Ha! I really don’t understand how that happens so much?!

All kidding aside, that week long trek around Hood’s base is high up on my bucket list as I’ve only heard great things about it. Enjoy, take care of your shoes, and remember to “listen to the trees”.

  20. Random Poster...Nutbag Says:

I liked that roll with the changes article quite a bit actually. I think it coincides quite well with many of the thoughts I’ve read here in the last couple of weeks and echoes what I’ve been hearing / thinking (but couldn’t quite summarize so well). Also, I wish it was called the Fuego Mann (said in the Dude’s voice of course) as opposed to the Mann Fuego.

  21. snow Says:

So are you taking your mind babies to the bar tonight @Dorn?
Pumped you are thinking about a SF run!! That would be great to see you on the blessed coast.

Mitchum’s article sums up the oddity of this summer tour and the resulting turmoil very nicely for me…

I’m starting to get Miner’s disappoint in the post Randy’s shows every day… because is some sense the back step from Randy’s to Chi (not including CMAC/DTE) was rather small in the range of musical performance (Bouncing coda jam -> Dicks12) but it was a very crucial one from sustained psychedelia to good shows with some jams. One sustains IT for a show while the other other bumps into IT kind of randomly.

So, the only people that are really going to feel that pain are those on tour who seek that last highest level because they have the context of expending the psychic/physical energy and following the contour of the tour.

  22. garretcorncob Says:

IW, I’ll be hitting the Gumjuwac trail loop through Badger Lake. Southeast side of the mountain, a little past Mt. Hood Meadows. No waterfalls, I don’t think, but several creeks and a lake (obviously). Supposed to be pretty remote too, so shouldn’t have to deal with too many fools.

  23. btb Says:

Page is really killing it on all these Fuego jamz

  24. vegas wolfmans Says:

That man can pound an organ.

  25. [an unrelated] Wilson Says:

if anyone is still looking for SF lodging suggestions:
Stanyan Park hotel. Great location. Easy transportation to Billy Graham.
Think some bb people might have used it in recent years.
plus – we’d be happy to host a vape session at our place right around the corner.
