last night’s show is one of those that you can just throw on, not skip anything, and by the time it’s done half the work day is over.

  2. vapebraham Says:

just respun set II from the webcast (on demand). exceptionally great set w/ flow and pizzazz.

WAN>free->tweezer->simple>tweezer->free>catapult is some mad scientist super flow.

  3. vapebraham Says:

exactly, jtran. served a beverage during that replay of set II. perfect music to accompany your life.

  4. Shred Says:

Segues were smooth. Catapult was strange which is par for the course. Great show.

Like 7/4, 7/12 & 13 more. Perhaps MPP1 was more my style too. Need to listen again. I don’t really care about smooth segues ( or teases, bustouts) as much as music and jams.

Yem was sick. But I don’t think I can ever recover from no guitar solo in yem. Just breaks my heart. Sacrilege. Everyone’s comments were spot on. Thanks,

I resemble that remark, C. Sometimes a joke’s a home run, sometimes it leaks shit onto the floor.

Enjoy By 8/16 has hit the shelves in CT! Drink up fellow Snowcones!

Thanks for tuning in to Palmer’s Phish Tawk, Sirius channel 555. Check back in later today for Tela’s weekly “Reading DwD” segment, and a special appearance by at least 1 more new poster claiming the show was a direct finger in the eye to Mr. “Minor” .

Now a word from our sponsors:

Gold Bond, introducing their new Ass Fresh Wipes, perfect for the road or dirty jobs at home.

and Cat Poo Roasters, cleaning the litterbox to bring you the freshest Shat Coffee in the world.

  6. vapebraham Says:

“I thought Harpua was a hilarious middle finger w a sly grin and wink… Probably would’ve hated it at the show though..”

^^^ no. see stoney’s earlier point. this band does not intend to give its fans a middle finger, it just happens sometimes.

^^^ this is 1000% fair and well said – your subjective taste is your own, and honestly I share it. I enjoyed last night enormously and it will get some respins down the line but I’m always a big jams guy…to me the fact they did thread a couple sharp little jams in there along the way helped my enjoyment a lot (again comparing back to the Bomb Factory template)

  8. RicksFork Says:

Agreed with Jtran, when listened to as a whole last nights show just cruises by as one cohesive unit. Favorite segue is from Tweez back into Free 2. Buttery.

  9. cal Says:

That was some classic shit last night, eh? Phish doesn’t play shows for the listen-back. Just happened to work out that way in the 90s. And still sometimes these days. Last night wasn’t the kind of show I chase after, but I’d have been grinning ear to ear that whole second set. Had a buddy there for whom that was basically a dream show. He gambled and flew out from Denver for that particular weekend. So, so happy for him and everybody there. How could you POSSIBLY have more fun than that?

Somebody was honestly ripping on Catapult? That is some funny shit. You have some kind of fundamental Phish disconnect, whoever that was. Keep at it. First make a list of your top ten favorite live Catapults.

I think this is the year I finally see Phish on Halloween. Fingers crossed.

  10. tela's_muff Says:

i’m sure i’ll get around to listening back to last night. at least it’ll get one more spin. but this show reminds me of the Moby Dick DC set, although last night prob had better jams. some sets are meant to be in the moment perfection.

now the big question is can Portsmouth finally get a great set of music.

  11. Mr. Palmer Says:

    Fishman is hysterical before JD….

Dorn- you are hired as the shows producer.

  12. MrCompletely Says:

top ten favorite live catapults. amazing. not counting anything around them. just the “song” itself.

  13. Fly Says:

    Arty you have been interpellated

  14. Fly Says:

well, if you respond, which you must!

  15. Joe Says:

Fishman was cracking trey up on Saturday night as well. I’m a sap but I love that they are still able to do that after all these years.

  16. MrCompletely Says:

again note my orange for MPP2 set 2 video replay

  17. ElJefe Says:

Vape- I think they do but w humor. Not the whole fan base but def a section… They know they have an intelligent and captive audience.. They have been doing it since eary on. Like w WAIT, DWD and Birds of A Feather. All referencing a (smallish?) section of the audience and poking fun at them..

  18. jtran Says:

didn’t even know they played BOTT in Charlotte too. Yet another prank.

  19. Mr. Palmer Says:

    anyone have link to Charlotte?

  20. jtran Says:

  21. Gavinsdad Says:

    Artisinally shat Upper Deckers

  22. tela's_muff Says:

glad to see other picking up on the absurdity of calling out an “awful” Catapult. i’m not the only asshole here… ha

i actually love Catapult, and I’ve caught 5 versions, 4 of which i’d call excellent and one in particular I’d call the best.

    1. 10/26/96 – Mule>Catapult>Mule. Catapult featured Trey on drum kit, and Page on theremin. incredible little groove.
    2. 2/16/03 – Bowie>Catapult>Bowie. a blistering Bowie opener. Catapult over metal like jam leading to conclusion of Bowie.
    3. 7/18/03 – Disease>Catapult.
    4. 12/31/99 – Split>Catapult.

  23. RicksFork Says:

I’ve been crafting some Phish songs to beer comparisons as of late. I seem to spend most of my time drinking good beer and listening to Phish so was pretty much inevitable.

Tweezer is a Heady Topper to me. Everyone wants one, not everyone gets one, but when you do it lives up to all of the hype and delivers what you expected and often more.

YEM is Pliny the Elder. The original, to creator. The bar to which all others are measured. It can be forgotten for a while as others come in around it, but it will never be surpassed and will always stand alone.

I have many more, but I thought I could test the waters with my ideas around here. The combining of beer nerdery and my Phish nerdery was inevitable. Please feel free to ignore this entirely if this seems juvenile, but I knew if there was a place I could share my musings it was here. Carry on.

  24. Gavinsdad Says:

Not a Bomb Factory type of guy ova heah.

  25. Gavinsdad Says:

Somebody please cage match Reading Yem against last nites. I’m too lazy/at work/no files.
