They’re trying to get computers to learn and make their own music from super data clusters without being taught.

@FB- i dig that Vol 17. Tight post Brent show. Bruce in Boston= a recipe for success. Hornsby is awesome in the Boston Clam Jam, nice flowy second set, dope first set. well played all around. That Would Be Something out of Space. and don’t sleep on that Samson>Eyes filler from 3.31.91 show.

  12. wilbard Says:

Sure you didn’t mean DP 15 or 16 or 18?

My main complaint with the Latvala series is I wish I could google ‘dicks picks’ in public without fear of judgment

Just popped on Englishtown, @C. Sometimes just need a little push. A favorite for sure, but its been a while. Gonna crank out some proposals to this frenzied jam monster.

    High Atmosphere #18 is killer.

    Yar Dorn, kinda scary right?

Not sure how good or applicable it’ll get.

But homie says he wants to be able to tell it to write a song:
About a subject, in a certain genre style, at a certain tempo, with changes that evoke a certain mood (harmonic spectrum).. etc..

And then it’ll do so all without ever being taught music theory or anything from someone, but through analyzing data.

  20. sumodie Says:

“Trey kinda sounds weird in that Carini. I don’t know if it’s a new style he’s exploring or he just can’t hit the strings the way he wants but can’t say I like it. Very herky jerky off kilter. Not smooth or flowy at all. I love that Carini because of Mike and the other guys. Feel like that about most of the music this summer. Loved it, especially with Pages New toys, but Trey just doesn’t seem right to me most of the time.”

This summer Trey seemed intent on rethinking & expanding the way he hears & contributes to the improvised music. As if he’d really mastered & absorbed his many guitar pedals & effects and wanted to add sonic layers, textures, and washes to the 4 way musical conversation instead of just lead guitar solos.

I think Trey has been working on this style of play for a while now and it coalesced beautifully this summer.

Somewhat muddled thoughts on my part but it’s what I got for now

One thing I’ve seen it do …

You give it one drum beat, and another drum beat..

.. and it’ll analyze the beats. And then make a perfect transition between the Beats by phasing out, and phasing in, the different parts making up the beats. It’ll even slowly adjust tempo, depending how different the beats are it’ll seamless transition from one to the other over more or less bars.

Nutso. Sounded fine to these ears. Maybe eventually it’ll help with song writing? Like you have these 2 grooves that seem like verses of two different songs.. but it figures out how to connect them for you, and the second groove becomes a chorus.. ?

Idk.. it’s pretty nuts. These guys get good funding and don’t need a projected date for a product.
