Early 3.0 Playlists: 2009-2011

Red Rocks – 7.31.09 (Graham Lucas)

About a month ago, a friend of mine who missed the first three-plus years of 3.0 was saying how Phish wasn’t very musically proficient in these years. I begged to differ. First, I started listing great stuff from each year in a group text, but then I decided to show him instead of tell. With the incredibly useful LivePhish app, I created extended playlists of the most relevant jams from these years. In addition to sharing them with some friends, I figured I’d share them with anyone and everyone who’d want to listen as a reminder of how exciting these years actually were. I find that 2009, 2010 and 2011 get a bad rap. Though the band was less consistent during this early comeback era, they did produce quite a bit of good music.

These playlists got quite long, so I most often included only the songs that had the jams and not the come down songs, so some tracks have abrupt endings, but in the end this doesn’t prove too obtrusive. If you have the LivePhish app, these links will open the playlists in your app. Enjoy!

Stoked to finally have a webcast where I’m not either on call or have to be up way early for something work related. I say tonight we get all shined up and have one of them fun casting virtual parties where everyone joins the portal.

“(Morning chillin, … I got a new job interview today. Buyer’s Rep/potency testing for a big weed bizz. Sorry children’s, hoping I get this)”

Damn LU – another quality teacher moving on and into the weed industry.

Did your school hold your position when you went on tour . . and now its not there or are you just looking for something diff.

In any case – best of luck!

    T Legga,

If there’s one thing I recognize and understand, it’s top shelf hams. The only piss in these pig ears is from Kermie. And that’s a once every few years “special occasion” type scenario btw.

And hams, and hams, and hams are so stupendous…..

  11. vapebraham Says:

    Thanks, Sumo.

Some’n different. Universe called me up again. I’m actually good at it and managing an elementary class room, but yeah.. ‘Mr Toews’ the teacher guy is, .. kinda like a mask too. Super grateful, but this seems way more my speed, with similar or better returns. A gamble tho too. It’s vibe’n right. Won’t know yet but Founder dude hit me up to meet today.

  13. little umbrellas Says:

I don’t know if I could potentially pull that kinda time again at school too much. This’ll be more schedulable. Def music prioritizes.

  14. DaNcInG fOoL Says:

As long as no one thinks I use Beats

  15. SOAM Says:

Just remember, split open and help

  16. Drew Cluley Says:

Sounds like a grand plan LU. Gigs and morning school certainly don’t mix well. Hope you land it.

Earlier webcast tonight bodes well for me to see the encore b4 heading to JRad at the Showbox. Plethora of music lately! Pearl Jam was Wed, JRad tonight, lots of couch tour!! Life is good.

  17. Turkey Leg Says:

Operation GET SOAM TO CURVE in full effect. That man is blackboard royalty. Will keep my ears open, bro.

I’ll be there, drew, rocking a grey They Attack! t-shirt. Seattle blowing up rn with those Pearl Jam shows.

  18. HadToHaveThat Says:

Acclimation fully under way! headed to lot, Mr.Ren carrying posters around, lookin fine as hell, phriends comin outta the woodworks, The energy builds….

I came really close to having a legit panic attack earlier…my “normal” life is so very different from full on jam rock sparkle madness immersion…..which I know, I need to close the gap. But I was dealing with design management madness up till the last minute, and it’s all coming upon me so quickly.

BUT with my Wombat suit fully fitted, disco ball cup full, and PHISH on the horizon — I will prevail!! So much love ahead. I

  19. HadToHaveThat Says:

    Free webcast tonight?
    What does that mean?

  20. MrCompletely Says:

    there’s a LP webcast

    which is free

    ?

really the main difference is that they put the free ones on YT so they actually work, like the pirate restreamers do it

  21. MrCompletely Says:

ok so the prophet is the UFO liftoff one that I think really sparks the chaos

appreciate the earballs on that in detail

  22. little umbrellas Says:

Yeeee dude the Prophet is like a crazy power house of potential sounds. Thing is a beast.

  23. garretcorncob Says:

Can the free streams be paused/rewound/etc?

4:30 local time is a little early for that, but would save it for later if that’s an option

  24. little umbrellas Says:

With the Rhodes facing the back , with the Yamaha above it (the synth swells we’ve loved hearing since 1.0), the Prophet lives above that.

That back stack he uses the most sparingly. If you hear the Rhodes vs the Wurli it’s also often indicative of which synth he’s playing.

Love hearing the Rhodes now in the jam it’s so rare.

The wurli is the sideway facing stack, with the Voyager above it.

So the Voyager is much more for playing leads.
And the Prophet / Yamaha stack is for crazy effects and pads.

(Just my brain goin here, just mentioning cause you can kinda orient the synth sound with the proper electric piano sometimes.)

  25. Dusty Says:

    Baker..thank you!

ffmpeg with youtube-dl to just grab it. Doubt they will let you replay it.
