Early 3.0 Playlists: 2009-2011
About a month ago, a friend of mine who missed the first three-plus years of 3.0 was saying how Phish wasn’t very musically proficient in these years. I begged to differ. First, I started listing great stuff from each year in a group text, but then I decided to show him instead of tell. With the incredibly useful LivePhish app, I created extended playlists of the most relevant jams from these years. In addition to sharing them with some friends, I figured I’d share them with anyone and everyone who’d want to listen as a reminder of how exciting these years actually were. I find that 2009, 2010 and 2011 get a bad rap. Though the band was less consistent during this early comeback era, they did produce quite a bit of good music.
These playlists got quite long, so I most often included only the songs that had the jams and not the come down songs, so some tracks have abrupt endings, but in the end this doesn’t prove too obtrusive. If you have the LivePhish app, these links will open the playlists in your app. Enjoy!

Be on the lookout for 2012 and beyond coming soon!
Split thoughts: way too much whale, would be nice if grey actually played guitar during it
And I haven’t even heard it
Listen back to it. Then it should compute. 😉
Ohhhh 3.0 splits sound better when played backwards it all makes sense now
@vape
I still haven’t heard a split where Trey really sticks the landing. I dig how far out they’re willing to push them, this year especially, but I just want Trey to really peak it out at the end. I think they have trouble finding a firm footing on the odd meter every 4 bars, and they rush the ending part because of it. If they could spend another minute or two on the ending portion before hitting the coda that’d elevate everything imo
Albany thoughts:
The two spot in the first set was better than both the 1 and 2 spot in the second set both nights. Maybe you guys at Curveball did get better jams.
Phish didn’t play any show at all on 8-03-17
Perhaps you meant Petrichor on 8-05-17?
Do people read past first lines?
Lol, TTE was last played right here at home in Amherst MA on 10-24-10, according to .net
Hhaha
TTE wasn’t played on any of those days.
That’s what made em the top 10.
This Hampton Split is a keeper
Heady Topper also a keeper. Got some here in PA from a local shop, so it’s probably not as fresh as from the teet, but man it is a winner. clean. more malt presence than i’m accustomed to, but it is good malt. drinks itself.
Hampton Lizards also a keeper. gorgeous. kickin myself for not solo cannonballing down for this one. long live the mothership! Viva la Phish!!!
Nice find, Vape. I didn’t think Treehouse sold any wholesale beer. Come to SQB and you can drink Treehouse for free.
Guy from .net selling 7 kinds of Treehouse in the Hampton lots today & tmrw. $10 a pop
sumo, my man, Heady Topper is VT from the Alchemist. Neither Treehouse nor Trillium has ever touched my lips. #thingstolookfwdto
Trey putting major enthusiasm into vocals this tour. see Albany Light, Hampton Undermind. Red is lovin life. jah bless
Albany Light is a major keeper. needs to be spun at volume. What a dark party jam! i was on the fence about this one on first spin, but man this is a bold charge of a jam! $$$
big Light fan
Albany ’18 Theme – keeper. Mike rules the day. Trey tries to send this version to the trash can with whale crap, but he can’t. rager Theme.
Maybe it’s the new board mix, but Mike sounds like the Greek God of melody, ideas, and pulsation this tour. mind blown. listen to him in Albany Theme

You shoulda come to hampton
Stop whining about Curveball and get out there
This whole GA experience is bananas
The sweet kind
Hampton GA… IT. Pure Psych Rock Goddess. Most underrated section is the lighter jazzy boogie on like tempo they found at 15min, so sweet, then the shipwrecked sample appears followed by Kraken more samples then full extended space abyss plunge.
Shipwreck samples are the only acceptable samples now and are always welcome.
So they’v Gone full lost space headspace mode twice now In two shows. Love this tour so far.
Oooooo a lil soul shakedown party would be nice too
Remember the funk boys
Vape, happy to ship you some fresh Trillium. best beer i’ve ever tasted honestly. you have my email i believe if you’re interested. i now work within walking distance, thank Jah.
Vape, lol me & my reading comprehension. I had just finished a Treehouse after mowing grass when I posted that. But still, Heady Topper in PA, very cool.

I know Mike now stands on a platform since….the start of summer tour I think.
Any chance that it’s an acoustic isolation platform? And not just to appear as tall as Trey. I’m thinking the former.
