Early 3.0 Playlists: 2009-2011

Red Rocks – 7.31.09 (Graham Lucas)

About a month ago, a friend of mine who missed the first three-plus years of 3.0 was saying how Phish wasn’t very musically proficient in these years. I begged to differ. First, I started listing great stuff from each year in a group text, but then I decided to show him instead of tell. With the incredibly useful LivePhish app, I created extended playlists of the most relevant jams from these years. In addition to sharing them with some friends, I figured I’d share them with anyone and everyone who’d want to listen as a reminder of how exciting these years actually were. I find that 2009, 2010 and 2011 get a bad rap. Though the band was less consistent during this early comeback era, they did produce quite a bit of good music.

These playlists got quite long, so I most often included only the songs that had the jams and not the come down songs, so some tracks have abrupt endings, but in the end this doesn’t prove too obtrusive. If you have the LivePhish app, these links will open the playlists in your app. Enjoy!

Friday was full on astro explosion, swirly gravity altering body rocking Phish. Rainbows and waterfalls blue flowers and cherry clouds?! Whoosh! BAM! POW!! Perma grin!
Treys sunshine sparkled SO pink! SO Blue! His voice so graceful and kind
Blazed on so hard so fast I fizzled like a comet second set,
Undermined rewired circuitry, a little beep a little boop
Carini went full warp speed, got spong’d and re-absorbed during split.. so hot and melty just put me between 2 slices of toast and call me chedda
Lizards opened the flood gates to swampy glorious gamehenge, knee deep in cosmic soup polishing off the night with all my scales entact

    Saturday night WAS special!
Slowww sweet deep sweet furry llama! Ughh the goods! Ship refueled by the power of phandom
Ran farrrrr away, tripped on a bug and fell in a mound
Found breath with Tela and absolute utter body rocking blast off with 46 days
Fluffed the shit outta some glowies and scooted on down to ground control solo mission style
Got sucked into that tube so fast! Lit! Like a sparkler! Mad knee bending bass bombs, mike so close, don’t panic! Tweeeeeezed on back to home base, bathed in wookdom, and loved on my fam.
Beamed right back up to No Mans! Standing on that rock suspended in air, waving at sunlight and bouncing down stairs

Crashed smack dab into a Suzy girl, she’s not of this earth!
Shining even brighter with a sweet sweet lullaby, blissy ooey gooey goodness

Funky funky funky!! I coulda hauled that Timber all damn day! Saw it again with those core rattling long dankity dark deep long notes. Strapped my wingsuit on and floated along the blissful frequencies, until….one day….a big BEAUTIFUL black animal pounced onto the ship, sending fur flying everywhere! What’s the use in blasting fur balls when Possum races onto the scene popping funfetti and stardust galore!! Poor weary time travels, clinging onto their helmets, eagerly anticipating the final voyage into tweeprise, only to get punked by Trey with an even more Quintessential journey. Gahhhd!!! Shiiiiit!

  20. HadToHaveThat Says:

You know what tho? Just cause I was sitting with my feet up on the rail, 1st row, doesn’t mean I didn’t experience the Phish in all is glory! I’m so critical of myself sometimes…like if I’m not up and fully animated, I’m not doing it right…but it’s okay to be still even if the ships a rockin

  21. HadToHaveThat Says:

Ending the trip with warm wishes for a happy Wombat day was Icing on the cake. Sparkle sparkle lumpster!

  22. Bwana Says:

Wombat, sorry I missed seeing you and Ren … was looking forward to it!

My first Hampton run was magically delicious! I definitely had lots of non-dancing moments this run, too. I was upper Page side rafters for N1S1, upper Mike side rafters for N1S2. Had the same platform nook on both sides… Was front Mikes side N2S1 and went up to the platforms behind the stage for Fluff and S2. Got booted from the platform that had the webcast camera mounted to it after a crew of us took it over for 1st Tube. I told the guy I was in charge of watching the camera and he let me stay. After watching me dance to the start of Tweez, he was like “do you have credentials?”. I said yes. He asked to see them. I said, well I don’t have them on me… Had to drop down a level to the platform Miner was on. Great spot hovering right over rear stage. N3, both sets, I rocked the back of the floor behind the tapers.

  23. HadToHaveThat Says:

Hey bwana! No worries! Enjoyed your light for afar 🙂
Based on the above we were within like 25 feet of eachother most of the run!

  24. Stoney Case Says:

Wow what a fantastic second set! Only had time to spin twice but wow!! What creativity abounds these jams.

  25. Stoney Case Says:

Stunning is everyone just too laid out to post? What a jamtacious mikes groove
