Early 3.0 Playlists: 2009-2011

Red Rocks – 7.31.09 (Graham Lucas)

About a month ago, a friend of mine who missed the first three-plus years of 3.0 was saying how Phish wasn’t very musically proficient in these years. I begged to differ. First, I started listing great stuff from each year in a group text, but then I decided to show him instead of tell. With the incredibly useful LivePhish app, I created extended playlists of the most relevant jams from these years. In addition to sharing them with some friends, I figured I’d share them with anyone and everyone who’d want to listen as a reminder of how exciting these years actually were. I find that 2009, 2010 and 2011 get a bad rap. Though the band was less consistent during this early comeback era, they did produce quite a bit of good music.

These playlists got quite long, so I most often included only the songs that had the jams and not the come down songs, so some tracks have abrupt endings, but in the end this doesn’t prove too obtrusive. If you have the LivePhish app, these links will open the playlists in your app. Enjoy!

Hopefully Phish management has finally realized that earlier tour announcements are better.

Perhaps not coincidentally, WSP announced its fall tour yesterday, including a 3 night Vegas run the weekend before Phish (not exactly significant competition, but still).

Today’s announcement must also mean that Curveball & the rest of summer are selling well enough.

And who knows, maybe Phish is announcing shows earlier than usual because MEX 2019 is happening too

kinda blocked over here…love fall tour but we have late sept wedding in poconos (phish peeps) and then a late oct wedding on hampton weekend (in nyc, phish/music peeps). so i gotta see where the money is. curveball then 2 weddings kinda takes my fall dough…possible options = Rosemont or last 3 vegas.

I have a wedding weekend of Hampton as well. We’ll see what gets my attention. If it’s wedding, I’ll make plans for Chicago.

This really is a special little corner of the webz. MiA is in the Cackalacks for a couple days and stopped by for dinner, drinks, and the like. Good times, even though I may have slightly over-served myself. Always nice to take things from the tronz to the porch with wife and kiddo participating.

So sorry to read of the rough landing after such an awesome ride LU, sounds like you had a really special thing going with this gal. Which is worth a lot. Don’t let go so easy if there’s anything to be done. But if not, relish in the wonderful memories and know you are a better human for the experience you shared. You gotta take it with you when your moving forward, if your movin on you got to leave it behind 🙂

  16. BingosBrother Says:

4 different price points is verily unphishy.

  17. sumodie Says:

    SEMA runs from 10/30 – 11/2 with 160,000 attendees

Las Vegas has 149,000 hotel rooms

Gonna be a madhouse midweek in Vegas

  18. sumodie Says:

I’d prefer every show to be all gen adm at one price point

But with reserved seating, I’ve come to like the price tiers. Now those with shitty seats are no longer getting shafted by paying the same amount as those on the floor.

Every seat is not the same value, unfortunately

  19. HeadyBrosevelt Says:

I think I agree with Sump on the price tiers. The behind the stage dance party at MGM is a freak fest for the ages. Prolly were I’ll wind up again if I don’t score floors.

  20. BingosBrother Says:

I’d rather be behind the stage or on the floor in back. I’m just glad to see my first indoor shows since St. Louis in 2012.

  21. Guitarpicker420! Says:

Trying to grab first two nights of Chicago. Nashville would be dialed in, but my wife has to be in San Diego for work that week. Bummer. Still getting an extra 2 shows in this year. See you guys at Dicks!

  22. BingosBrother Says:

  24. sumodie Says:

Yet another friend of Phish facing a serious medical challenge

Albany in the fall is the perfect opportunity for Phish’s most legendary opening act to open for the band one more time. J Willis Pratt! J Willis Pratt!

  25. Jerome Garcia Says:

The Pfish & their friends are getting old. & we’re not far behind.

Flight booked for Fri 11/2; arrive a few hrs before ticket time. Return flight to be booked as soon as SWA’s sch opens up past 11/3. Stoked AF to catch the back half of the run & tour closer. 1st fall terr shows for me outside of ACL Festie whenever the hell that was maybe ’10?
