’91 has a pronounced drum machine feel. jerry’s voice more faded, weaker. still killer w/ the great song selection and playing. TWYDTTYD to kick it off and Ce la vie are $$$. love a Strugglin Man. Lay Down Sally cruises, Melvin finding some funky tones, $$$. gonna spin this Lazy Bones in a minute.
btw. the ’87 and ’89 Eel shows, Jer’s voice goes from middle aged ravaged to soft, kind grandpa and goes more grandpa by ’91. Love grandpa Jer singing Lazy Bones. $$$+
Right on dude. Jerry is the best. Grandpa Jerry is the most best.(aside from leather jacket and puma’s Jerry) Gramp-Cia makes me feel better every single time.
still reelin in the Eels. Tried to nix one of these Waiting For a Miracle’s. couldn’t do it. both choice. ’91 crisp and grandfatherly. lot’s of love in the voice. ’89 has more distortion on the guitar and a mild tape distortion overall, like a wobble – I dig it. ’89 the slower tempo version. ’89 the more vocally interesting version with Jerry wailing at times, trying vibratto and stretching out notes on the final word of verses. ’89 guitar solo also grabs me more, so fluid and fresh. dam, Jer was great
you almost forget Kahn’s there, he’s so interwoven in the tapestry. easy to take him for granted, but he was the bass man all those years in jerry church. he had that fuzzy subterranean tone that never fluctuated. spinning some 5.21.76 jgb now. can’t shake this Jerry jones. lovn it.
When the words are in the music, the music is the song.
The world would be so happy, if we’d all just get along.
I want to see it, a smile on every face.

I saw JGB in Worcester MA in 1991, 3rd row center. It was one of the best all around concert experiences in my life, for many reasons. I don’t mean to sound sappy, but I really feel like it changed me – my taste in music, my outlook on life, etc. The tickets were given to me at the very last minute. My wife is friends on Facebook with the girl that gave us the tickets. I haven’t spoken to her in years, but I want to reach out to her and tell her how much I appreciated that concert. I should. I wonder if she evens remembers she gave us those tickets…
Nice. 89 is dank. The mission in the rain is beautiful. You know this
oh, dang. this gorgeous shining star. bros.
Ok, now that you’ve spun all tree….
‘91 is the bees knees, right vape?

And say what you will about John Kahn. That fella contributed a whole lot to that magnificently warm JGB sound. Dude was a groove Jedi.

Nice vape. I, too, am unable to stop my JGB obsession. 5/21/76 I’ll take a melody. So much money.
one of the Jerry crown jewels was recently unearthed, at least from where I stand: See What Love Can Do (from the ’91 ~~~ show)
When the words are in the music, the music is the song.

Yep. The latter of only two performances.
