spinning Everything’s Hollow. keeper tune. doesn’t sound like a throwaway, a lark, or a spoof. these KV tunes sound far more developed than the Haunted House nos. I’m down with KV. fresh sounding brand new Phish tunes (10!) and people are bitchin?

    why is january?

see, those sorts of questions are easy to pose.

  3. HeadyBrosevelt Says:

i agree, Vape- 100%. i can’t stop spinning it. the only time i found a halloween set this refreshing was Haunted House. With Ziggy, I listened two or three times, thought to myself, “well done, nerds. proud of ya.” then, the next time i wanted to blast off with Ziggy, i put on David fucking Bowie.

  5. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

    @roc
so would that then have a double vocal round thing first for the lizards outro and then maybe in returning to passing through? cuz I’ll cosign that

  6. realoutcasty Says:

    Col Forbin>Passing Through>Mockingbird

  7. Santos Case Says:

    What else I miss?

  8. Santos Case Says:

OK, it’s been long enough and I am back home. I’m going to try this Halloween set out again

Hi Ho Hi Ho Hi Ho

Damn just realized they snuck Disney into this set as well!!! Mind blown

  9. realoutcasty Says:

try not to boogie down during Stray Dog

  10. phlorida phan Says:

There were a couple times during set2 live that I was permagrin”d thinking about the next time they play these song/s. Most phishiest thing evah! I always come back from the shows, waiting to hear the jamz again, but really only been rocking that halloween set.

  11. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

do I tell stoney that a broadway dancer helped with the choreography? one who also was a wombat dancer and worked with trey on hands on a hardbody? I probably should let that one slide into obscurity…

ah, what the heck. have at it stoney<a?!

  12. phlorida phan Says:

Death Don’t Hurt knee bends are gonna be slow, and low. Ya’ll better start stretching preshow…..You’ve been warned!

  13. phlorida phan Says:

Stray Dog was when the gag hit me. Mind=Blown

T# – The Rupp Gin. definition of hose, right? pre-97 Fall, not sure there’s a better example.

  15. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

it is all hose, for certain. I’d put some of the fall 95 tweezers in contention (11.30 Dayton and 12.02 New Haven for sure) but no denying the hose quality of rupp gin

crazy to listen to that and the UIC stuff from just two years later back to back. such a different feel and flow to the music

  16. realoutcasty Says:

lopin is my new thing. i’m gonna lope like a mf’er. look out.

  17. Santos Case Says:

So they practiced the dancing ahead of time?

  18. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

whoa whoa whoa. maybe – stay with me here – just maybe the “lopin'” line is a direct reference to that true “stray dog” Lope G. I mean c’mon the signs are all right there in the lyrics!

  19. realoutcasty Says:

that keyboard jam in the Rupp Gin was a revelation. he had been playing with that throughout tour, but that jam is next level for Page. funky. ground breaking for the band. reminds me of what he was doing this Fall tour.

  20. Santos Case Says:

We are come to outlive our brains is where the set started turning toward the positive for me. Coming back slowly now.

Shame on me for not loving it. That’s some delicious guitar tone

  21. phlorida phan Says:

Sometimes you just gotta glue a magnet

  22. Lumpyhead Says:

and you thought we weren’t gonna have any fun today Stoney
    shame on Ü

  23. vapebraham Says:

Say it to me Santos (Case).

These halloween tunes are great. not flat on playback. a little raw and vocals could be cleaner, but that’s normal for debuts. Give me that sweet strat love (do you hear the rock n’ roll magic our man is laying down? There’s your classic rock album fix worked right into the concept. brilliant)

Oh the choruses are cheesey and repeated one too many times. . . that’s (scandanavian) rock n’ roll, baby! and those choruses are catchy as hell.

It’s More than a feeling. Some will win, some will lose, some were born to sing the blues. You shook me all night long. I won’t get foooled again. this is what space smells like.

  24. vapebraham Says:

the juxtaposition of the fishman “faceplant into rock” death metal vocals with the happy “woo hoo” chorus is brilliant. and listen to him clean shred guitar in that tune.

  25. vapebraham Says:

perception is spoon-fed. . . I hope someone notices = pretty heady lyrics
