yes, quite the nice surprise to get Trey in the mix for Mike band Saturday night. had not heard the rumors and that was a fantastic moment of realization by the 500+ in the room. he sat back for the first few songs, literally behind Scott and Mike as you accented their music more than anything. but he did take some spirited leads and at least once he and Scott got a bit crazy going at it.

and as always great running into Sumo and BWeird (even if only for a brief moment)

The final Mike night at the Sinclair in Cambridge MA was an overall very good two set flowy dancey show. A better two set show than night 3 (night 3 first set was okay).

Beforehand I wasn’t enthusiastic about hitting two back to back Mike shows, but I left last night feeling very glad that I did (despite having to drive back and forth from western MA).

The “new” to me band members, Robert Walter and John Kimock, really make this band tight. After night three I was thinking Murawski was the weakest link, but last night he impressed me too. He just needs the right song material in order to shine.

Who knew I’d like Yarmouth Road so much? We were 5ft behind Yarmouth Meg and she absolutely crushed this tune on the dance floor. Some great covers last night like Beck’s Black Tambourine and Gimme Some Lovin’ by the Spencer Davis Group.

I’m not sure this band will convert those who’ve never liked Mike’s solo band shows. But if you’re like me and your enthusiasm for solo Mike has wavered in recent years, I highly recommend checking out this “new” lineup. I look forward to seeing this band again. And I’m glad Trey wasn’t there last night.

    3-24-19 Mike – Cambridge MA

SET 1: Pendulum, Put Down The Phone, Wildflowers, The Grid [1], Mother’s Song, Spock’s Brain, Infinite > Say Something

SET 2: Only a Dream, Steps, Black Tambourine, Yarmouth Road, Thin Air > Yarmouth Road, Jumping > Marissa, Go Away

SET 3: I Am Random, Gimme Some Lovin’

Sumo, not sure if you remember this, but I recently heard from Bingo’s that you were the dude that hooked me up with my FTW 50th GA ticket. We met up downtown very briefly for the exchange. I just wanted to say: Thank you so much from the very bottom of my heart. That was one of the most serene nights of my life on the floor of soldiers field with my brothers. So much magic in the air that week. Jah bless yo. You Da man.

    P.S. obligatory yarmouth meg.

Jimmy, I remember you well as I loved your kinetic enthusiasm during our all too brief meetup on the street. Hopefully l’ll see you at this summer’s Alpine run, which will be my very first AV shows.

Once I pointed out Yarmouth Meg to my friend Odie, she realized that she had already had an adverse encounter with Meg at the Portland OR Mike shows a couple years ago.

Thanks for the meme link as I wanted to show that to Odie (yes, she is the Odie to my Sumo).
