Your Time Is Near, The Mission’s Clear

Aj Mathsay - Indio Part III

Aj Mathsay - Indio Part III

We are T-minus 36 hours and counting from blast off.  I, as I imagine many of you did, spent much of the last two days running around town getting last minute things for the biggest Phish party since the millennium. I have just put the final touches on things, packed the car, and am leaving in the morning. In fact, I’m probably on the road right now; gotta get down to SoCal before the World Series kicks off this evening. The waiting is over – the time is now!

Red Rocks and The Gorge are distant memories, and Phish is ready to put their next foot forward into the rest of their career. Phase one of the 3.0 era has ended, with nothing but continued musical evolution ahead. We are sure to hear new songs off Party Time, a release that has conveniently been pushed back beyond Halloween. And we are sure to catch a glimpse of where we might be headed. While all eyes fixate on Indio, fall tour will pop up soon after Festival 8’s final note. If the first half of this year was about getting their feet on the ground, it is now time again to see how high Phish can soar. It’s off to the races, and where we will wind up, nobody knows. But in the end, it’s all about the ride. Safe travels, folks. See you in Indio!

Let’s do this!

I should’ve known it was simulcast over the Bunny.
i remember waking up to AC/DC Bag or something at Coventry after taking a nap and thinking, in a fog, “I wonder what show this is from…great recording.”
Then I realized I could hear it in surreal surround with the actual venure about one minute’s walk from my tent.
    It was on…..
    I love the Bunny.
I remember walking into Coventry that 23 miles being able to listen to the same radio station the entire walk….pretty cool.
Then some guy came on, sounded like Mike saying we need to turn back or some shit.
Mike…I’ve been walking for about 8 miles.
    No effin’ way.
Then the Vermont State Troopers (Littering and……) came out en masse with shotguns drawn.
    100 yds behind me.
I had slipped through the cracks!
    Good times.

  6. snowbank Says:

I truly respect that page for Suzy Greenberg. It is not as easy to fuck around with airports as it used to be

  7. snowbank Says:

    Has anyone seen this:
It’s odd cause it is an AP story, but I have not seen any papers pick it up.
    Cool story anyway.
    Phamily time…

  8. Mr. Completely Says:

man, that’s a sweet little story

he’s right, the Shoreline backstage scene was really fucked up. I’m sure it was the same everywhere but that’s where I got the most passes to…couldn’t deal with the scene back there…just too weird

  9. Mr. Completely Says:

Hey Jude in flow chart form

  10. snowbank Says:

I can only imagine that they started to feel the pressure to entertain the backstage group. I mean, why else do you backstage except to party with the band? I know that when I host a party, I have a really hard time enjoying myself until I get plastered enough that I stop worrying if people are having a good time, if group of friends X will get a long with group of friends Y, if the acquaintances that came will ever talk to me again because I am freak, who keeps turning on the crappy music, etc. Why do people who barely know you think they should DJ at your house? so rude.

That flow chart could come in handy. I am going to see if I can get it added to the employee handbook.

  13. Frankie Says:

Try Sirius Canada, fool… works great!

    Man, i wish i was goin’ to 8 right now… 🙁

  14. DaNcInG fOoL Says:

i put a fake zip code and it worked, hopefully it will actually play though… what channel is phish on and whens the acoustic set

  15. snowbank Says:

That aerial photo is of the site, but I don’t think it is from today… just to warm you all. It does not jive with the campground map.

  16. PBS Says:

@Fool – The broadcast of the shows is on channel 17 (Jam_On).

Acoustic set is @ Noon on Sunday.

  17. DaNcInG fOoL Says:

    @noon as in 9am?

  18. beepaphone Says:

@ noon as in 3pm EST

  19. DaNcInG fOoL Says:

I was on that flight out of SFO with the Suzy page. I did indeed laugh out loud.

  21. beepaphone Says:

this gave me a nice distraction from missing 8 for about 10 minutes…some are pretty funny

  22. joe Says:

not sure if the sirius trial includes the Howard Stern channels (100-101) but on Fridays they play a best of the week show. There was a pretty cool perfomance by Steven Stills this week. Did a nice midnight rider accoustic thing. I know that Howard isn’t for everyone (or for most) but sometimes the musical performances are pretty cool.

  23. joe Says:

and definitely not suitable for work.

  24. joe Says:

unless you work with people who have no sense of decency or are wearing headphones.
