I’ve listened the whole tour, and I’ve give this show the nod. And a stellar recording by Jesse Hurlburt, taboot!

In order to enhance coverage of side project shows I am unable to attend, I have decided to try out a new section of Phish Thoughts centered around side projects performances – Side Project Reader Reviews. For the rest of this Trey tour, and Mike’s upcoming tour, I invite you, the readers of Phish Thoughts, to craft your own reviews of shows you attend. These reviews will be posted on a separate page of the site, exclusively reserved for your reviews. However, I am not interested in posting silly narratives about one person’s evening or experiences, rather, I’m looking for astute musical observations and analysis. Try to make these reviews between 500-1000 words, though I reserve the rights to edit down your pieces if necessary. (I will always edit for grammar and flow.) Also, please don’t be offended if your review is not posted. I do not necessarily intend to post every single submission. I will only post well-written reviews that focus primarily on the music. (Try to keep the first person out of things as much as possible, as that will help you stay on topic.) Anyhow, have at it! The only show I’ll be at is Kansas City, so I’ll be welcoming contributions for all other shows, including Mike’s tour. So far, we have had reader coverage of the last two nights. Check out Neemor’s take on a smoking show at Oakdale!

  1. Mr. Palmer Says:

I have a Maxtor HD- no problems yet.

  2. Halden Says:

The TimeCapsule is too much for the amount of storage you get but it is convenient.

I have a MyBook that I like but you don’t and personal preference goes a long way. Have you tried Lacie? They make nice Drives.

  3. Robear Says:

Whenever I missed a great show, I could ask Alex how it went down.

After sitting in the bar across the street, trying to hit on a girl that turned out to be a lesbian, while 11/27/98 was going down inside the Centrum:

    Back at the hotel:

    “Alex, how was that show?”

    “Best one I’ve ever seen”

    rolls over, face in pillow

  4. neemor Says:

Robear…she’s just not that into you.

  5. Halden Says:

I am digging Love is Freedom. This pull is nice.

  6. neemor Says:

That Freedom jam rocked my world from our prime location.
Oh…wait…they’re firing it back up again?
    Hot as hell.
sumodie was getting hit on, I think.
    Then Simple Twist?
    Clearly the goods.

    Ser., how was last night??

  7. flarrdogg Says:

Wait. They still make Tab? Sorry. I’m a few pages back.

  8. Robear Says:

neemor, I’m pretty sure she at least reconsidered her orientation that tour. But alas, it went nowhere.

  9. Halden Says:

    Marty McFly lives TAB.

  10. gratefulcub Says:

    Was it really Kyra?

If so, that was one of my favorite reads ever on here.

  11. gratefulcub Says:

Kyra stumbled into the coolest handle in the history of the intertrons.

  12. Robear Says:

Time for Oakdale and the inaugural ‘bane pull (in honor of presidents day)

More thoughts re: TAB to follow.

  13. kayatosh Says:

I hear a marked improvement in speed and precision between 2/13 and the early shows (2/8 2/11). 3 man horn section. perfect. this band sound so balanced. no need for an additional percussionist. russ works the cowbell like a job. mozambique

  14. Robear Says:

def. Kyra. Mitch is slick, but not THAT quick and witty.

  15. neemor Says:

    cub, it was def. her.
Mitch had grabbed that handle as his alter-ego and while they were getting ready to paint the town red, she hopped on and said hi.
    Really sweet.
    Can’t wait to meet her!

  16. flarrdogg Says:

Was I dreaming, or did homegirl make reference to a “wet dick” when she popped on yesterday?

  17. kayatosh Says:

i hear a marked improvement in speed and precision in the 2/13 show vs. the early shows (2/8 and 2/11). although i prefer the bone solo of 2/8 over 2/13 in mozambique.

robear: i’m committed to a full listen of 2/13. alive again was sweet. skipped shine and all that almost was b/c of purported distortion. see show notes. plus ataw is tripe. on mozambique now.

vaiped all morn – kids out, stock mrkt closed — had a delish pb and honey on wheat and now it’s me and ray tickling the ivories in mozam.

  18. neemor Says:

Well, I’m going to further investigate that 2.20.03 show after hearing that Seven Below on Friday.
I ate that one up…must be some other gems in there.

  19. EL Duderino Says:

Has anyone noticed the change in horn arrangement on First Tube from the Charlottesville show through the Wallingford, CT show?

    They’re completely different…

  20. Marshall Says:

OK – sounds like Lacie and Maxtor (which got bought by SeaGate I believe) are the consensus suggestions (including El Dude from earlier).

Does anyone know if you can use a single external as a backup for both a PC and Mac?

Sorry for all the questions; thanks for all the answers.

  21. Mr. Palmer Says:

neemor- there is a 20 minute Jibboo shredfest in that show as well.

  22. neemor Says:

flarr, she was as excited as I was for my date.
    She mentioned ‘bumping uglies’.
    Love it!
    Kaya : “tripe”
    Well done.

  23. neemor Says:

    Nice, 2.20.03 it is, then…At 1pm EST

  24. Halden Says:

If the Filesystem can be read by Win and Mac then you are good. Alternately you could make 2 partitions on the drive and format one for Win and one for Mac.

  25. gratefulcub Says:

    re: 2.20.03

My favorite, without competition, PH show. The -7 is great, but it is not one of the best 3 moments:

    Greatest Jiboo ever
