Jam of the Day:

Mike’s > Horse > Silent” 10.29.96 II

This nugget of darkness finds Phish in Tallahassee, amidst their last set before Halloween ’96. Playing with Karl Perazzo, warming up for Remain In Light, the band sat into a thick “Houses In Motion” groove during “Mike’s” second jam.

    I have been planning my quentissential quadrennial event for years, the 2010 World Cup brunch. This is the 3rd.

    The US plays England on Saturday June 12th. It sets up perfect, as we play the 2:30 game. That is morning football, mimosas, brunch, beers, early afternoon kickoff.

    BUT…..

    I have yet to mail the invites because there is an off chance that I could have Phish shows that weekend.

    It would take an act of God or Trey to cancel the QQ World Cup Brunch, it is my favorite event I throw. And this year is special. Why you ask? (I know you didn’t, but I want to say)

    The World Cup is in South Africa. South Africa is the home of the peppadew. So, I get to cook a peppadew inspired brunch for the World Cup. It’s like all my favorite things.

    quick poll:

    on grey rainy days do you like to :

    put on some music to complement the weather? (pink floyd, spacy tweezers, nirvana, etc)

    or

    combat the weather with your favorite uplifting blue sky music (the beatles, some new orleans jazz, ya mar, etc)

    I woke up this morning and threw on the days between from vegas 1995 – if you want a rainy day experience give it a try. I love to wallow in the greyness.. my wife is the opposite, so I was curious how other folks deal with the grey day musically speaking.

    morning all, thanks for the J/DOTD Miner!

    I wish I was disappointed because my summer plans were on hold until tour dates…best friend’s wedding is falling in the first weekend in June, in Florida 🙁

    It’s sucking all my funds and will leave me little time and money for at least the first leg of summer tour

    Oh well, that will be good times. Hopefully they’ll play in sarasota around June 6!

    @Cow

    Surrender to the flow

    Gray and dreary = Decembrists: The Crane Wife (as an example)

  7. BTB Says:

    Purple Rain! Purple Rain!

  8. marcoesq Says:

    @grateful

    Let’s just hope that Trey rocks some US soccer unis (not mia hamm this time though) on stage after our big wins again!

  9. gratefulcub Says:

    @marco,

    That would be instant screensaver material for this guy. Got that Wendy?

  10. BTB Says:

    Austin City Limits 2009 was on Palladia last night with DMB, Kings of Leon, Ben Harper, the B52’s and the Decemberists

    Notable takeaway: I think I like the Decemberists now. They rocked.

  11. Halden Says:

    World Cup, Oh Yeah

    Hup Holland Hup!

  12. Halden Says:

    @BTB

    Yeah The Decemberists on ACL were great, however, after trying to listen to much of their catalog I can’t get into it. I respect them but not something I would spin up.

  13. Foul_Domain Says:

    Morning Everybody.

    BTB – How was DMB? Ive been contemplating a show this year. Its been 11 years since I saw them live…

  14. gratefulcub Says:

    If you decide to dive in, the place to start is The Crane Wife and then maybe Picaresque.

  15. gratefulcub Says:

    Morning all, Hope to see you for TTFF. Today is about to begin.

  16. Halden Says:

    So I am getting thhrough the morning with Winterland ’73 and I just have to say that Playing In The Band > Uncle John’s Band > Morning Dew > Uncle John’s Band > Playing In The Bandm from 11/10/73 is pretty sweet.

  17. marcoesq Says:

    Trey Anastasio is to Landon Donovan as Mike Gordon is to ?

  18. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

    wallow in the greyness

    sounds like a Morrissey album title…

  19. halcyon Says:

    Summer plans are all systems go if the West receives the love the rumor mills have been churning. Have a trip in June to Europe, return to some summertime Phish and Red Rocks shows, and this summer will shape up nicely. Now if I can only find that burlap sack filled with money. 🙂

  20. SillyWilly Says:

    I like Irish folk on rainy days. Makes me feel like I just ducked in a pub out of the mists for a quick pint

  21. Marshall Says:

    I will confirm that I have been subconsciously avoiding summer planning because of Phish. I’ve actually begun the early stages of planning a couple of different trips, only to shelve the projects without reason or answer. Its obvious what’s really going on.

    I would love those Charlotte/Raleigh/Atlanta dates to be correct. if I could get those plus Deer Creek, I would be one very contented phan.

  22. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

    please don’t compare Trey to Landon 🙂

    I’d rather think of him as one of the legendary Euros or South American players who can create true beauty on the pitch rather than a prissy, temperamental American who has had a good career but not as good as he thinks it has been

    ^
    that’s probably a bit harsh on Landon, but my point is that the implication from using him as a comparative for Trey is that he is one of the best ever at his craft. I don’t even see him as one of the best American players ever… but that’s another topic entirely. 😉

  23. BTB Says:

    Foul, I’ve seen some DMB shows in my younger days and am officially over it. I think Carter Beauford is the best drummer I’ve ever seen though, so usually I pay attention to him.

    I hear everybody on the late summer tour announcement screwing with schedules. I’ve got some weddings and mountain biking trips that remain in limbo!

  24. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

    @willowed
    (if you’re out there today)

    tough loss last night. I was pulling for your Bobcats to make it through to the tourney.

  25. mrfergie Says:
