Jam of the Day:

Mike’s > Horse > Silent” 10.29.96 II

This nugget of darkness finds Phish in Tallahassee, amidst their last set before Halloween ’96. Playing with Karl Perazzo, warming up for Remain In Light, the band sat into a thick “Houses In Motion” groove during “Mike’s” second jam.

i googled it…there’s mention of 6/23/76…a birthday gag, but that’s not the one.

  2. ma Says:

ah, the snortatorium…saw my first concert there….roger waters pros and cons…sweeeet!

  3. Mr. Palmer Says:

@ Verno- Got the dvd today, thanks again. 2.20.03- Able to watch the 1st set before the wife and kids get home. Man o man, shit is smoking.

Anyone not familiar with this show, please check out the end of the first set. Waves>Simple>Jibboo- 50 minutes of must hear Phish (minus the lyrical flub in simple 🙂 )

unfortunately it has my summer tour jones at all time high level.

  4. Marshall Says:

A good example … I used the term “puff” above because I know people here know what it means. Yet, even though I first “puffed” back in 1987, I’d never heard that term even once until I went to Festival 8.

In my little redneck town we just said “do you want to get high” or “do you want to smoke a J”? Best was “are you holdin’?” Remember, I’m talking late 80s.

  5. gavinsdad Says:

my car stinks to high heaven. i don’t know how to keep the smell down. jars won’t keep the smell down.

it’s all kooky cool dude lingo…whatever…”puff tough”. fuck it man, everyone do their thing.

i told you before, when i see you all….we dance. (even if it’s with those of you self described “internal dancers”.

i have been having pacts with myself all week: “dont go to the BB”, “dont comment on the BB” “dont talk about tour dates on the BB” “dont dont dont!” but here i am again….

maybe i can sign off until tour dates wiht this: however much i’d love to see many many shows and hit the west coast and the multiple permutations of that i have this tiny tiny thing brewing in me that really does want to hit a southern show and by that i mean NC, SC, GA, AL or MS. never did it before and like Robear said earlier….WholeTour! knows and i wanna learn.

anything can happen, and now that my wife is in LA, once the kids are in bed….the baning will commence!

have a good evening people. really seriously only wanna come on this motherfucker next week to see dates or talk dates.

  6. Chuck D Says:

car wreaks of chron? Get some Lock and Lock tuppaware… or Nalgene makes little plastic air tight containers…

  7. verno329 Says:

@Palmer The second set is actually what inspired me to burn that run. I didn’t even watch the first set. Now I know what I’m doing tonight 8) Thanks. The Tweezer is powerful though, drags a for a bit in the middle and then BOOM! Just an explosion. Totally killer. And I hear you on it increasing the summer jones.

  8. gavinsdad Says:

@chuck: was in those new jar like tupperware. but not in a turkey bag…which is my usual route…turkey bag in jar. not today tho.

  9. Stupendous a.k.a The Beasel Says:

I have a BB addicton, not only do i check it at work all day but now its geting to the point in which I get home and I check it real quick, i check it from my phone but that kinda drives me crazy scroll up to refresh page and scroll back down to see if someone has posted, repeat 4 times a minute…. Such good energy here in this group, eventhough we’re all very different folks and different likes/dislikes I feel we maintain the respect, love and joy of being a family and be willing to learn from one another. Can this community really be this good? or Do i just not have any friends to talk with…? Both.

our whole house reeks right now

had to move shit to the garage

    insane

  11. garretc Says:

My entire room does not smell, which is fortunate as it’s a dorm room, but unfortunate as it means I’m almost out… So it goes!

  12. Stupendous a.k.a The Beasel Says:

    r there any campus dispensaries?

  13. gavinsdad Says:

stup: we can only meet so many people in the course of our show going. add in a couple hiatuses (sp) and maybe some adulthood. this little petri dish Miner got going exposed us all very quickly (per our discussion the other day…it’s been a slowish, everchanging growth since miner got goin) to people who really liked phish who weren’t in our immediate circle. i have many close friends who i’ve known since high school who don’t wanna hear the word phish. ever. then i have some of those cats i’ve been seeing music since then. now i have this crazy group of people. interconnectedness is something i was seeking at phish for years, since i, like Marshall, never properly toured. rehab, then a fragile new attempt at life sidelined me and redirected my focus away from “touring” while i never ever really left phish. i saw em, but less than when i was 18 seeing the Dead. so fast forward til today…and here are alot of people we don’t really know…but we appreciate their passion for the Phish. it’s astounding every day.

feel like we’ve been expressing our group gratitude alot. but why not? this is pretty real, even tho it’s virtual! now that i’ve met a small percentage of the peeps here…it’s even more real. love making the connects. love increasing the love.

    let’s do it.

  14. gavinsdad Says:

Masta Kush: i’m almost at that point….the garage may be the ticket.

  15. neemor Says:

I, too am addicted to the board.
    In a big way.

I arrived home today to find a strange looking package on the steps.
Marked for my little girl, attention…me.
    I recognized the return address.
Guys and girls, there are some special people on this board.
We’ve talked about how this board is a special place from the positivity and such, but the people on this board…

Robear, what you sent to my little girl in the mail today does no less than reaffirm my faith in humanity.
There are times when I feel like we’re all holding on by threads, times where I’m not sure there’s connections to be made as we stroll through life brushing past one another in our daily routines, times where I’m not even aware myself that there are other people in line behind me…

People like you make me aware that there’s life out there, that there’s good, honest, amazing, beautiful people around every corner…just waiting to lend a smile and make life colorful again.

I’m amazed at your brilliance and I can only hope that everyone on this board gets a chance to meet the wonderful person living in the Great NorthWest that shines a light on this entire community at one point or another.
You’re a credit to this fanbase, my friend…yet one more reason in a huge string of reasons to visit here every day and spend my last cent going to shows…

    Thank you.

Lock and Lock are cheap and really do the trick; used ’em in the dorms after I learned the hard way, use ’em in my car… they used to be at every grocery store a few years back, they seemed to have become more specialized though.

  17. garretc Says:

@Stu, not on campus unfortunately, although that would be an extremely convenient gesture for students with medical issues… 8)

However, one of the closest commercial business to campus is a dispensary, next to a medical marijuana consultant, next to in n out burger… They sure know the clientele!

  18. Chuck D Says:

I’m out. smoke weed everyday. if you can’t for any reason, edibles and tinctures are available! its been real.

  19. Mr. Completely Says:

    damn, neemor

pretty strong reaction for someone mailing you a ShamWow

thought that counts though I guess…

no srsly, whatever it was, that’s cool

    this is the meta-crew

one board to rule them all and on summer tour bind them

one of the closest commercial business to campus is a dispensary, next to a medical marijuana consultant, next to in n out burger…

    epic.

  20. neemor Says:

It wasn’t the ShamWow that got me, it was the pound of HERB.
Figured I’d try to fit in.

  21. Marshall Says:

Is it just me or do almost all of the Live Phish releases (the 20 that were put out on CD) put to shame the SBDs that we’ve been getting this past year, even after they started doing a separate mix for leg 2 of summer?

I’m listening to LP 02 – 7.16.94 Sugarbush and it sounds the way a live recording should sound.

  22. Marshall Says:

I don’t think I had a clue when they were playing NO2 in Miami just how big of a bust-out that was. I’ve been listening to this LP 02 from 1994 for so long that I sort of assumed that they “played” NO2 more often.

Five times in the history of Phish. Five times.

    That’s awesome.

  23. Mr. Palmer Says:

@Marshall- i think the rush to get the shows out immediately does detract from the overall quality of recording. I’m no audiophile, but i would imagine those LP releases were mastered and re-mastered in the studio to sound so crisp. My opinion at least.

  24. Stupendous a.k.a The Beasel Says:

    Garretc: lol too much!

GDiddy Im all about that. My best time at a phish show was in miami 03
I knew so many people and had so many groups of friends that were there.
the night they played weigh It made me laugh histerically at the attempt to figure out if all my friends that were there, were thrown into a swimming pool,
how much would they weigh?…..the point being that a show can be a totally diferent experience when everywhere u look theres a friend. spread out all over the country, the world becomes a smaller cozier place in our minds.

    Neemor:
Thats a hell of a nice little detail. im getting all sentimental now.

Robear is one of the kindest. We met for a minute in MIA and he’s def one of those people that you can just see kindness in his eye from a mile away.

Turn On your Lovelight, Let It Shine On Me

  25. voopa Says:

I think most of leg 2 and Fall, and all of Miami sound great!
