The North Coast Rag @ beanboy.

FWIW, I’m against most anything that gives the government more tax dollars to waste.

I always really like 3/18/77 @ El Dude, if you have a sweet copy.

    Alhambra!

  2. voidboy Says:

    @robear,

whole family’s reving up should laws pass in CA. Not a forgone conclusion, but we remain hopeful.

  3. jdub Says:

Neemor, a worthy subject to bring to the board as the response showed.

Good luck with the new roomie!

  4. EL Duderino Says:

    Nope.

    I have 3/20/77

Remember folks I have my GD list up to but not through ’88 thus far.

    Click on my name.

  5. garretc Says:

    You know what?

I think I’d like to hear The Wedge more often…

I hope you’re taking notes, Phish, this is important!

  6. Robear Says:

el dude, totally, re: Undermind. It seemed like Billy picked up on that, and tried to steer some of the open jams into ‘NFA’ space. not saying it wasn’t wishful thinking on my part.

i had a vision of this young Phish crowd doing the ‘love is real not fade away’ chant / clap between end set and encore, ala Richfield ’94.

no man.. its all good.. i think WE the BB blew it out of proportion…

it was definitely a fair concern and the BB is as good a place as any to bring it.

If anything you got several different viewpoints on it…

so you should have a lot to pool from to make your decision

  8. JWP Says:

OK, this is pretty random, but does anyone agree that it would be sick if Phish covered “Sister Christian” by Night Ranger. I was thinking like having the opening piano lines morph out of Page solo at the end of “Coil” or something similar.

I know that the jukebox summer of ’98 was 12 years ago, and it seems like, to a large extent, Phish doesn’t seem to be taking on too many new covers. But, I’ve been thinking about this one for a while, and I would love to see it happen. I hope that doesn’t make me a total loser (I am not an Night Ranger fan, but it is a catchy tune).

  9. EL Duderino Says:

    @ neemor

    2 questions…

    1) Do you really need this place?

    2) Do you really like this guy?

If you answered yes to any, than you know what to do!

  10. voidboy Says:

    @JWp,

Like it for the sheer shock value… though I’m afraid it would get hammed up like the Collective Soul “Shine” cover they did years ago.

  11. llamalee Says:

@ el dude, let me see what you got so far

  12. Skyballs Saxscraper Says:

    @El Dude

    Uh…

    Umm….

May eeeeeii- I mean NINTH! Ninth. Right?

Or December. I recall one show from 12/77 that was scorching but can’t quite recall the date.

  13. Robear Says:

fortunately, they didn’t play ‘shine’ all the way through…….

  14. Robear Says:

el dude, the copy i had of 3/18/77 was out of order and missing parts. is that show unavailable as an entire show?

  15. BingosBrother Says:

Shine is way better than Treys Shine. God that song makes me vomit. Never bust on another bands music when you put out some shit like that.

  16. Robear Says:

hey bingosbrother, where u at? left, right or middle? we hangin’ this summer?

(geographically, not politically or religiously, llfa)

  17. llamalee Says:

@bingos, did you hear it updated with the horns. i used to feel that way about shine but hearing this new TAB tour, it didn’t bother me at all

  18. SOAM Says:

I think I just read “phish playing sister christian would be cool, they’re not doing a lot of covers lately”

First off-I just can’t put it into words-Sister Christian would be great if I was shrooming out of my tits and after an epic gig and they made a joke and fish sang it..but -to cover one of the worst-dbag bands ever-they’d have to wear leather and alot of hair spray for it to be done justice-sister fuckin christian into “talk dirty to me” by Poison-your motoring….>at the drive in-and the old mans ford..Jesus Christos..

Second-phish has done 3 tours in the last 5 years so havent done anything lately is kinda not possible…IMO

Still-I would laugh into the next day/week/month/year if I EVER heard that cheeseball duchebag ode to metal fags…by the best band on the planet-summer tour is on the way-Tour on the waaay>SLIP>FRANKS

    neemor,

For every rule he makes, you make one in return. Report back to us, let us know how it is going. Sounds like fun times are ahead (for us).

“On Wednesday’s, we don’t eat ice cream.”

“In my house, we close all the blinds and curtains on Thursdays.”

    Why

the article in rollingstone a few weeks (a week?) back about the changing business of marijuana growing was interesting to me as someone way outside of that reality. not sure how accurate it was to those more in the know than I.

  22. [Not Tom] Marshall Says:

If they are going to play Sister Christian, then I’d like to request Big Country. he he.

  23. cal Says:

JWP–no, that would suck. It was annoying enough when Umphrey’s used to play it. I’m all for irreverence and the occasional goof, but the totally inappropriate covers phase is best left in 1998.

However, if that makes you a total loser, what does being a huge Journey fan make me? They don’t call us cheeseheads for nuthin’.

  24. EL Duderino Says:

    @ Skyballs

It probably was one of the ’77 New Years Run from the Winterland

    Just a guess

  25. joe Says:

I like the boston garden show (see my avatar for obvious bias) from 1977… dick’s picks 15 is the only one I have. all this talk about it going to make me dust it off.
