Weekend Nuggets: The 4th of July

Phish celebrated July 4th with to in Atlanta’s northern suburbs with the third patriotic weekend of their career. Finishing tour with four sets of energetic music, the band created an all-out party vibe for the tour finale. Within the two shows, improvisational highlights emerged in “Bathtub Gin,” “Antelope,” “Tweezer > Slave,” “Jibboo,” and “Piper > Ghost.” Finishing Independence Day with Rage Against the Machine’s ” Killing in the Name,” sandwiched within a comical, revisionist-history “Harpua” narrative,  Phish created their own pyrotechnics for the holiday.

    Gdad….Glad you had a great time at GSW this weekend. I read Scotty B’s review of the first night, and will be dl’ing these shows later today.

    NY Giants and NY Yankees fans

    😥 RIP Bob Shephard 😥

  2. Robear Says:

    yeah, @ palmer re: Deer Creek. just got the dsbd from duder. great times.

  3. SillyWilly Says:

    Im pretty excited to experience Deer Creek for the first time in August.

    just about 4 and a half weeks until Im back on the road.

    I keep telling my friends that when I see the last 6 shows of summer I call it “going on Silly tour”

    so, can’t wait for Silly Tour.

  4. Gavinsdad Says:

    DC is gonna stomp a mudhole….

    Cool @Hal…there will be more fine tuned versions of those boards coming out in the future via Budke…will keep ya posted…got to hang with Scotty B last nite for a few as well…he was pretty pumped.

  5. joe Says:

    pretty sure Phish is in a class by themselves for having fans with the thoughts I just had of “only 1900 miles round trip drive to deer creek. My shitbox car can do that no problem and I can probably do it without having to take much time off from work.”…tickets still available 😉

  6. joe Says:

    Pretty sure I wouldn’t beentertaining the thought of driving to the middle of Indiana to see the Kings of Leon (chosen at random) during the middle of the week after I just saw them 3 times a month ago.

  7. joe Says:

    but dude, they might bust out that sex is on fire song you’ve been chasing! wouldn’t want to miss out on that

  8. Mr.Palmer Says:

    Silly- you hitting JB? If so, looking forward to hanging with you. Those are my “hometown” shows, even though i live in jersey now 🙁 Should be a large BB presence on the beach.

  9. SillyWilly Says:

    @Joe

    Don’t you feel like we’ve found the secret?

    How freakin’ fun is Phish and seeing all our people around the country?

    I love this and I hope I have many more summer/falls like this in my future.

  10. Robear Says:

    I was trying to explain what song ‘TTE’ was to a friend yesterday. He’s a fan, not as rabid as us.

    ‘Which song is that? The one where everyone hits the restroom?”

    llfa

  11. Moby Dick Says:

    todays 10 yr anniversary show is my favorite show ever

  12. joe Says:

    been trying to tell everyone of the secret for about 15 years silly. nobody wanted to listen so I stopped. their loss.

  13. SillyWilly Says:

    @Mr. P

    I plan on making the trip because I have the work off.

    I will be looking for tickets.

    I’ve been meaning to ask the board, so I guess this is as good a time as any. So:

    Does anyone have Jones Beach extras? I am ok with lawns!

    falkwilt AT gmail

  14. Lycanthropist Says:

    Poor poor tte.

    phishs slow red headed step child

  15. Mr.Palmer Says:

    Silly- i’ll keep my eyes and ears open for you. I know a lot of people with tickets that are looking to upgrade and such. I wouldn’t worry about it. You’ll be fine. And BTW- there is no lawn at JB. Its more like a very small stadium.

  16. Robear Says:

    Was blown the phuck away at the scene for Deer Creek 2000. Had no idea how huge Phish had become. That place was a zoo. Kind of the festival for that year, I guess.

    We had a 40′ vending booth. Glass, goo-balls, the works. Tough ticket, tons of kids shut out. Two really great shows, and a pretty good one.

  17. Robear Says:

    Silly = Waterwheel for Jones Beach.

    next question?

  18. SillyWilly Says:

    @Mr. P

    Thanks a lot! and thanks for telling me about the lawn. Obviously, I have never been to JB.

    if anything comes up Mr. P. I am willing to pay face and fees.

    I am not trying to leave anyone losing money.

  19. SillyWilly Says:

    Word, Robear.

    you gonna be there?

  20. Jtran Says:

    @Robear
    How would I get involved for night 2? Just e-mail them?

    I’ve been thinking about trying to volunteer with either Green Crew or Waterwheel a bunch lately. Might as well try this summer..

  21. Robear Says:

    camden ‘CDT’. they drift out of the closed jam, into the open jam around 5:30 mark. Led by the impressionistic tone.

    These guys can throw out the open jams at will, it seems. How do we increase the ‘will’ factor 🙂

    Trey, Mike, John, Page, thanks again. I promise, if my girlfriend, or anyone elses date for that matter, thinks some of the jams drag on, I’ll buy them flowers. Keep it coming for the rest of us…Pleease!

  22. Jtran Says:

    @Silly
    I’m looking for night 2 tickets (2 of them)..if you find four together or something..I’ll keep you in mind as well.

  23. Mr.Palmer Says:

    Mr. C or El Dude

    some new Charlie Miller’s on bt. etree

    11.29 and 11.30 and 12.02 and 12.06 1981. Are these shows worth pulling in? ’81 can be a bit hit or miss from i’ve come to understand. Your input is appreciated.

  24. Jtran Says:

    Also I’m listening to the Riverport Gin for the first time right now. $$$

  25. phoammhead Says:

    @Silly

    That CLT 7/2 show is a great show with an awesome flow and vibe – no lulls in that show, imo.
