Deer Creek '00 (Distante)

Following up the last two downloads, this show completes Phish’s three-night run at Deer Creek in 2000. The second set featured, perhaps, the three most-often payed songs of summer in “Jibboo, “Sand,” and “Twist.” The strong playing of the second set continued with “Fee > What’s the Use? > Limb.”

I: Cars Trucks Buses , Wilson, It’s Ice, Bathtub Gin, Buffalo Bill, My Mind’s Got a Mind of its Own, Split Open and Melt, Sparkle, Funky Bitch, David Bowie

II: Gotta Jibboo, Sand, Twist, Fee > What’s the Use? > Limb By Limb, Loving Cup

E: Run Like an Antelope

I know in 96 it was AV then DC….we missed AV on that tour to kick it in Telluride for a few days after the RR run.

Got scrapple in the mail today….indie movie with cool colorado idiosyncracies, and a cool soundtrack featuring amongst many Taj Mahal, and WSP

What grade level are you interested in teaching? I did sub work for K through 6th grade. It was a lot of fun except for the one time I lost a child for an hour or so. She was a “walker” and I thought she was a “buser” and it turns out I was mistaken. The poor girl probably still suffers today.

  4. halcyon Says:

Scrapple was filmed in Telluride, Ophir, and Alta Lakes but it takes place in Aspen.

This damn Droid likes to misspell things. I ment kinston nc. I could sworn someone.said they lived there.

  6. Gavinsdad Says:

It’s funny that certain venues have become notorious for reliably sick shows. DC and Camden come to mind….MSG too.

  7. Luther Justice Says:

The Dead killed DC too. But they also killed Alpine. But DC was always special for them too.

  8. DaNcInG fOoL Says:

I have dreamed about seeing concerts at alpine and deer creek for like 7 years. next weeeeek yooo

  9. Luther Justice Says:

Even The Other Ones killed DC.

My license is high school. After I finished my student teaching, I didn’t land a gig (who knew the job market would suck even for teachers?) I subbed last year too, and did this second (can it be second if it’s 40 hrs and your primary source of income?) job. I need something more cuz these hours are driving me nuts and just not having much to stretch the brain out at work isn’t my idea of fun.

Welcome to paradise. Be smart. Especially on Day 1 at Alpine. Mofos make their bank and split. Sunday is much chiller.

  12. DaNcInG fOoL Says:

bingos, i have no idea what you mean by that

  13. DaNcInG fOoL Says:

    except for the paradise part

I think it was in 2000 that Phil & Friends played DC the night before the Phish DC run. That was soooo much fun. The P&F show (w/the Little Feat guys) played the strongest show of their tour IMO. Most of the crowd were Phish phans giving them a try and I believe that energy pushed Phil and the band. Phil knows how to channel crowd energy. He’s had a lot of practice.

I didn’t have the guts for teaching HS. I was teaching in an urban school district in Columbus, OH. I didn’t even turn my back on the 2nd graders. I caught one of them with live ammo on the playground once. The kid even had a roll of cash on him. No joke.

  20. Luther Justice Says:

    @Dude
I wasn’t a big fan of that P&F line-up but I still listen to that show every once in a while.

  21. El Duderino Says:

    In Columbus????

  22. El Duderino Says:

    I got it too LJ.

Haven’t spun that one since ’00

  23. Luther Justice Says:

    @Dude
Believe it or not. Columbus. THe kid even told me as I was busting him that he had more money on him than I’d make that week. I was like, this kid is 8 going on 30. But he was right about the money. He had more than I’d make that week.

  24. Luther Justice Says:

I paid kids off w/soda pop to be snitches. I knew what was going down on the playground. I had it on lock.

  25. joe Says:

I did the majority of my work in the city and the kids are pretty good for the most part. (my school was one of the few ones in the system without metal detectors, although I think they are putting them in this fall) My take on it is that the bad ones don’t even make it to school by that age. plus, I don’t really try to be “cool” by any means and think that works with them. although, I did overhear one student talking to another about smoking weed after school in what he thought was super street slang. Called him out on it and he couldn’t believe I knew what they were talking about. kind of funny how old and un-hip they really think I am. (and for the most part they are right)
