Great times up here C. We have quite the crew.

Tried to burn the scenery into my brain! Ash went on mega hike. Hot tub time everyday. Major win.

  2. sanchothehutt Says:

    Wassup, Robear?

That Simple video is double rainbow good.

  3. butter Says:

that Piper might have owned my head more than any other moments in the last 5 shows

the end of Crosseyed really lifted me

  4. Mr. Completely Says:

Piper is the best high speed jam from the first 4, I think, or my favorite

Telly 2 up in a minute

  5. Matso Says:

Gut feeling: DC Friday 13th will be the show of the summer. Brace yourselves for a Ghost^

    ^: w/ Thriller teases.

    @Henry

Yeah I was a little surprised with Wolfman’s too (MPP video choice) – my pick would’ve been the Rock and Roll or the Piper or the Ghost->Jumpin Jack Flash->I Saw It Again.

But oh well, I’m hoping we get another one up there from MPP but there are bigger highlights that happened more recently that are probably a lot better choices (Greek Light is one I’d LOVE to see)

  7. Mr. Completely Says:

my guess is they want a mix of stuff for serious jamheads and newer or more song oriented fans as well

  8. Mr. Completely Says:

oh, Friday the 13th, hell yes

usually my luckiest day of the year

    (not kidding)

Hi all headed back to SFO after Greek>T-Ride. Wanted to give some thoughts.

Thought Greeks were good but the crowd was kinda lame. SF crowds are known for being real talkative so dump a blizzard on Molly on em and it sounds like a bookclub afterward with Oprah as the host. There was no lot so people travelling to SF were dry on night one and that Cities on night two shows what kind of vibe was floating around. Also lots of heads mixed with super randoms and people that saw Phish @ the Greek back in the day and haunt seen a show since but wanted to check it out. Haven’t been following comments in the last few days but Mr. Fishman absolutely owned the Greek along with CK5! The rudiments he talks about in the drumming article definitely shine through.

Telluride was the opposite scene in a lot of ways. I kept thinking that these shows are not going to translate onto tape. The biggest reason for this is the Altitude! For those of us @ sea level the altitude was definitely a factor in partying, dancing, and even how loud the music sounds. With less O2 in the brain and body it is tough to even yell between songs after boogying @ 9000 ft. This came through though in the psychadelia that came off the stage. It’s clear that the boys preferred to just let go and jam. Just take a look at the setlist from last night – almost every song had an open jam at the end. Fish definitely looked like he was running out of has towards the end of set 2 last night but as hard as he killed it the pasy

  10. gho2it Says:

    ….past few nights.

The other big thing that might not translate was the jams in Piper and Carini. Piper should be labeled Piper>Canyon Vibration Jam. During both jams the landscape become so loud and intense that the ground was vibrating as the bass reverberated in the Canyon. To me these two jams made the whole trip!

I am so glad to see such a healthy positive scene out here and the T-Ride locals (and cops!) said they were so impressed at how well mannered and HAPPY everyone was!

These shows were on par with the intimacy of Pima county fairgrounds from 99. Also seemed similar to Fuji Rock from 99. (Was any one @ Fuji and Telly? Can you compare?) Invaluable the jamming styles changes and the low O2 makes you want to ditch the compositions and hose out!

Also: The Telly airport is the coolest airport I have ever been to….highest commercial airport in the US.

Will post more soon, bout to get in the plane to SFO.

Love seeing the Simple video, especially the little stuff you don’t notice just listening, like Page’s face after Trey and Mike come in with the second verse a little early.

I need more serious listening, but so far the Simple beats out Light for my tastes. They’re similar though. I’ve noticed especially in Simple that Trey is certainly playing nice melodies, but there is a percussive quality to his lines that gets lost when he jumps on the whale. It blends nicely with Page’s fills, and of course Mike and Fish are playing “percussively”, so for me it ends up feeling like there’s a 4-man ping pong match going on, with four ping pong balls going simultaneously and they’re just hitting them back and forth across my brain in a really fluid and calm – but interesting – way.

I don’t know if that makes sense, but a lot of the Greek jamming had me feeling that way.

  12. b-rock Says:

What’s up all? I’ve been awake for 13 hours today and been on trains for 9 of them. My ears hurt from having headphones jammed in them for so long – and from being filled with dank phish too. Thanks for posting the simple link, that will be perfect for my home stretch. Can’t wait to get home and spin Telly 2.

  13. Mr.Palmer Says:

Just checking in, Probably old news. Mike’s> Simple form the Greek

  14. Frycanthropist Says:

    @voopa

    thank you much

so now i got it installed… how do i use to pull the videos to my harddrive?

  15. Mr. Completely Says:

    “Canyon Vibration Jam”

    ^^^ that sounds amazing

talk about not translating to tape, yeah!

    wow

  16. Mr. Completely Says:

@Frycan, FWIW I am figuring out how to use it right now…it seems like it is working but not showing progress…could be blocked by work tho

  17. phoammhead Says:

I know we all love Phish – that’s why we’re here. But, I want to give a real loud shout out to the boyz!!! It amazes me how they vary their song selections and set phlow night after night for as long as they’ve been throwin’ it down! Sure, they miss a few lyrics here and there and flub a few segues here and there, but the boyz are incredible for putting it out there night after night while they’re touring – and generally, taking the chances they take and continuing to make it interesting for all of us. Even though I can’t make all the showz, I am so glad that I’m on this ride!!! 😀

Deer Creek is going to blow up!!! 🙂

  18. negev79 Says:

well holy crap…I just got laid off. Got into the car, turned it on, and Sparkle was on. Yes…actually sat there listening to

    laughing
    laughing
    fall apart

    (!)

Half tempted to say fuck it and jump on a plane using frequent flier miles – bound to be miracle tickets floating around for AV and DC.

    But no…

It will all work out, I am confident. But a little freaked!

Supposed to leave tomorrow to go camping in Northern CA with my man and his family. I assume I am still going but who knows now.

    Ugh

  19. phoammhead Says:

    damn, negev – ugh, for sure . . .

  20. Frycanthropist Says:

well lay it on me Mr. C

  21. Frycanthropist Says:

    damn neg.

    good vibes your way

  22. phoammhead Says:

@negev – it’ll work out though – everything always works out perfectly – just not always the way we think it should – very sorry!

  23. negev79 Says:

well, the good news is, @Mr C and any other Portland BB’ers – I know have lots of time during which to meet you for lunch or other gatherings.

Must find work quickly…Halloween tickets are expensive! 😉

  24. Mr.Palmer Says:

sorry to hear that negev. That blows. Unfortunately been there. One door closes another one opens. So they say.

what the fruck is a Frycan?

  25. Mr. Completely Says:

    oh yeah it’s totally working

just learn to recognize the symbol – the red blue yellow circles

a little icon appears next to downloadable vids, with a menu that pops up

also you should have a button at the top of the browser with the icon, and a little arrow, click on that for a list of videos from that page you can grab

you can also set it to autoconvert to whatever format you like, I think? haven’t dug into that

    pretty slick interface

all of the above is based on Firefox – hopefully you are not using IE for some silly reason….there is no good reason to still be using it unless you have to for work or something, hopefully everyone knows that…it sucks less than it did, but IE is still bullshit, bottom line
