    @ JerZ

That is the weirdest post ever. Surely you jest… I’d prefer it if “those guys,” who come for the party and not the music, stay the eff away. Then again, I’ll be avoiding all sheds this summer unless it is just a day trip, so it doesn’t bother me much. Indoors is where it’s at for me.

“only to have Phish wreck their lives and never be the same again” – not sure what this means. Wreck in a bad way? Or wreck there sense of being so that they become slightly enlightened human beings in some way?

  2. KfL Says:

went with tea instead. we got a name for that?

  3. JerZ Says:

I mean wreck in a good way- my first time seeing the Phish, I went because someone told me I could score cheap drugs and party and they gave me a free ticket

    I was “that annoying guy”

Then I got into the show, and my life was never the same

Groundscored a ticket to the next night as I was leaving, so decided to go

200 shows later, my life is changed by Phish- but started with me being the jackass that showed up just to find cheap drugs and be an idiot

HAppy New yEar!!!! to all my cyber tour buddys from the BB!
today is the first day off ive had in a while between work and festivities.
catching up on my online activities.

    Peace, Love & Health!…..and money wouldn’t hurt…

  5. Little Buddy Says:

Now I can get on board, JerZ. The more kids that get turned on the better. The problem is that if they travel in packs they may never get out of their comfort zone enough to have the experience you had. But I hear what you’re saying.

  6. Little Buddy Says:

^ although I don’t want to have to scramble for tix any more than I already do 🙂

  7. Mr. Palmer Says:

So, now that C & P is off my list i did some fact finding and discovered the next 3 tunes i need to see.

    1. La Grange
    2. Tela
    3. Jesus Just Left Chicago

really surprised about the last 2. I would have sworn i’ve caught them before. Tela is meh for me. JJLC seems to be the most likely although a LaGrange would be the bomb.

  8. JerZ Says:

I hope Phish brings Sabotage back into the mix for 2011

  9. JerZ Says:

    And Sexual Healing

  10. Mr. Palmer Says:

on 1/1 when the segue from Crosseyed into Twist, what is the deal with the siren sound going off? Is that an effect they’ve used before. I don’t recall ever hearing it before. Curious. It’s very cool.

  11. lastwaltzer Says:

kfl dropping knowledge back on page 33, like mike drops bass bombs.

  12. Jtran Says:

Looked at my own stats yesterday Palmer. The most played song I haven’t seen (besides The Landlady) is Rocky Top. I thought that was kind of weird.

  13. Mr. Palmer Says:

that is a little strange @ jtran considering your a 3.0 kid. What else was on your list?

  14. Mr.Miner Says:

@ lumpy…yes, without any concern for flow. stacked up the webcast setlist with songs and not many jams (beyond tub, tweeze, timber)

  15. Gavinsdad Says:

Gotta say, the type of person at Phish shows that affected my experience was always the thuggier, hardened lot-entitled swinger dealer lot kid followed closely by the less business savvy and slightly more rednecky lot kid. Lots of very sketch behavior from that group in the 96-2000 range IMO….the fratty DMB kid hardly hit my radar and I gotta say I think that more because I was a part of the aforementioned types of crowds when I was a bit younger so that element is always on my radar.

Crowd seems quite a bit more universally enthused in 3.0 than in other eras imo

  16. sumodie Says:

The most played song I’ve yet to hear is ‘Take the ‘A’ Train’

‘Whipping Post’ comes next, followed by ‘Cold as Ice’ (my Foreigner phase is long played out, don’t need to have that come back)

  17. Little Buddy Says:

I wish I could do Phish stats. In the murky 97-00 years I have trouble figuring out which shows I hit and which I saw. I tried one day and I figure I’ve seen about 120 shows, +/- 20. Haha! Actually I have very little idea how many I’ve seen. It probably is around 120-130. Which ones is much harder to figure out. Wifey knows her exact count. She is at 227, I think. She has stubs for almost everyone and setlist books covering 1996 through 2000.

Wish I remembered my 20’s better. I think they were probably a lot of fun.

  18. Little Buddy Says:

“which shows I hit and which I saw” – meant to say which I hit and which I didn’t. jeez.

  19. DukeOfLizards Says:

Is that “all-time” or “since your first show”?

Hoping that 2k11 brings me a McGrupp, Corinna, Peaches, and Saw It Again.

I would also love a Tela.

(I bet you would, Panama Red)

  20. Mr. Palmer Says:

sumo- Take the A Train was #1 for me as well. I didn’t put it down because its so far off the radar. I don’t think they’ve played it in 15 years.

Makisupa is such a hit or miss tune for me. So glad that they played the version they did on 1/1. Perfectly in synch with the set. Worked perfectly IMO.

  21. Gavinsdad Says:

Walk away, JJLC, A-train, and Lagrange are just tunes I lucked into seeing shows in college all the way back. I still dig Gamehendge-y stuff and would welcome a forbins>mock or tela any day

  22. Gavinsdad Says:

Count me also as a Maki hater who really dug it on 1/1.

  23. DukeOfLizards Says:

    Oh yeah.

    Forbin’s>Mock for me as well.

Kinda makes you wonder – will kids in 15 years (god willing they are still touring) be chasing Sugar Shack?

  24. Jtran Says:

All time. McGrupp was up there as well I think. I’ll take that McGrupp and pass on the Rocky Top please.

And I think A Train was actually 1 for me too. Didn’t mention it for the same reason Palmer just stated.

Some more statage off the top of my head:

    I find it funny I’ve seen 2/3 After Midnight’s.
1/1 was my 25th show (had no clue at the time)
    TTEd 4 times
    10 Possums
    More Tweeprise’s then Tweezer (7 to 6, I think)

  25. sumodie Says:

While I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that Trey mostly mapped out the NYE run, what does that say about the 30th? Does the band consciously aim to play more song based shows at times? I would say yes.

I don’t believe that when Light didn’t take off (according to our wishes) the boys suddenly opted to just play it straight. Of course the band has to be feeling it to go for the epic moments, but hindsight says that the boys were saving their best for 12/31 & 1/1.

Post Light was still fun. And underwhelming, if that word suits your taste. To me the show was more jittery than underwhelming, but no matter.

And fwiw, I’ve no idea how much effort it takes to play 5 shows in 6 days. Was 12/30 all about the boys’ saving their best energy for the next 2 nights?
