TTFF: Through The Years

12.31.10 (G.Estreich)

This week, Ten Tunes For Friday features one selection from each year between 1993 and 2003. Enjoy the juxtaposition of jamming styles, and hopefully it will take you right into the weekend!

***

2001 > David Bowie” 11.11.95 II

This combination kicked off the third night at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre, a run that revved up the second half of a marathon Fall Tour.

8.10.10 (G.Lucas)

Mike’s Song” 12.30.93 II

A classic piece of Phish history.

Down with Disease” 12.30.03 II

A passionate version that gets lost in the shuffle of Miami ’03 that features a spine-tingling re-entry into the song’s theme at the end of the jam.

Reba” 8.14.96 I

An eternally underrated show in Hershey ’96 finally began to get its props over a decade after the fact.

Piper” 6.10.00 I

In the band’s second night in Tokyo, this 20-plus minute “Piper” batted third in the first set after a near half-hour “Disease” sparked the show.

Ghost” 11.11.98 I

One of my favorite Fall ’98 “Ghosts” from Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Limb By Limb” 12.3.99 II

This version from Cincy ’99 is far more your average “Limb.”

6.27.10 (G.Lucas)

Split Open and Melt” 12.7.94 I

A shredding first-setter from Spreckels Theatre in San Diego near the end of Fall ’94.

Harry Hood” 11.16.97 II

The night before Denver ’97’s monumental show, Phish dropped this stellar “Hood” towards the end of the second set.

  5. BTB Says:

Your new bike looks pretty slick Punk. I gotta check that out. Been mostly riding in the gym, but made one 20+ mile jaunt through the Cuyahoga Natl Park this spring. Our biggest client is in Mpls so hopefully I’ll get up there by year end.

  6. phoammhead Says:

  7. Jtran Says:

11/29/98 Gin $$$. Much needed melodic hose after the angry Simple

  8. Leo Weaver Says:

@Jtran…that Simple is the evil twin of the Hampton Simple. Both pretty damn amazing. Nice work on your fall ’98 run.

@Luther…happy birthday! We’ll do a little celebratory puffin in a few weeks.

  9. punkmug Says:

Thanks. Been loving it. It’s fast! …super fast! There are some good hills as I recall around there Cuyahoga, I’m sure that was a pretty good 20+ mile workout.

Yeah, if you’re ever in town you got my contact info. Just give me a shout and we’ll catch up.

  10. voopa Says:

    This is not all.

    That is all.

  11. BTB Says:

Leo – you rocking up to the Midwest? Doing the OH run? I forget.

  12. Tzara's Ghost Says:

  15. Tzara's Ghost Says:

  20. marcoesq Says:

    Que paso, mi amigos….long time

    Go Flyers!!

  21. marcoesq Says:

haha, literally just saw your post above, Guyute711

Miller is looking good, a little too good if you ask me..

Even though we killed that 5min major and went 3 for 3 killing your pp’s, you guys went 4 for 4 and miller 32 for 32. Thats just tough

  22. Guyute711 Says:

The ghost of Rick Martin and the French connection will rule the day!!!

  23. Guyute711 Says:

I’m still bitter about game 3. That taking off the goalie mask nonsense was cheap as hell. Turning point of that game.

  24. marcoesq Says:

Lets not talk about calls, you guys have been getting the brunt of everythign in front of the net

  25. marcoesq Says:

Let’s just say it’s shaping into an interesting series. Can’t say I wouldnt rather us being playign NY, though. Letting the Caps come back from an 0-3 hole and then to lose in OT?? Thats just loco
