TTFF: Through The Years

12.31.10 (G.Estreich)

This week, Ten Tunes For Friday features one selection from each year between 1993 and 2003. Enjoy the juxtaposition of jamming styles, and hopefully it will take you right into the weekend!

2001 > David Bowie” 11.11.95 II

This combination kicked off the third night at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre, a run that revved up the second half of a marathon Fall Tour.

Down with Disease” 12.30.03 II

A passionate version that gets lost in the shuffle of Miami ’03 that features a spine-tingling re-entry into the song’s theme at the end of the jam.

Reba” 8.14.96 I

An eternally underrated show in Hershey ’96 finally began to get its props over a decade after the fact.

Piper” 6.10.00 I

In the band’s second night in Tokyo, this 20-plus minute “Piper” batted third in the first set after a near half-hour “Disease” sparked the show.

“My advice is to have a seperate shade area from your tent. When you get hot in your tent… go to the shade area to sleep. It can buy you at least an hour.” – snow

This worked for me in ’09…I got really comfortable in my chair under our shade tent, feet kicked up, just post-spliff…nice breeze blowing. Caught a solid hour nap, then another 30 minute one after adjusting. Granted, it was cooler in ’09 than typical, but…

    Battling the heat

    1. Get really drunk and pass out.
    2. Wake up the next day feeling terrible
    3. Slam 2 bottles of water
    4. Drink a Gatorade
    5. Start drinking liquor
    6. Take a hand full of “something”
    7. Head to the venue

Repeat for as many days as necessary

  3. Leo Weaver Says:

That didn’t work out so well for ya at Deer Creek as I recall, Mikey. 😉

  4. Guyute711 Says:

I felt terrible day 1 I put that in there

  5. Guyute711 Says:

    Let’s try this again…

@android users…what music players do you guys use to play flacs on your phone? just picked up a thunderbolt…with a 32g card, itching to start filling that sucka up. winamp, poweramp, etc, etc? And do you use the free or full version?

Anyone? Where are T3 and KP when I need ’em?

  8. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

    sorry, leo. busy day IRL…

I use the paid version of PowerAMP and have tried most of the ones out there. Basically, in order to get the functionality you want for playing flacs, go with a paid app. the free ones will usually play one at a time but don’t handle flacs for playlists or playing a whole show. BoomBoxoid is another pretty good one. haven’t tried the winamp app, but will and let you know.

also, if you haven’t grabbed it yet, get the Live Music Archive app. allows you to stream anything from archive.org. fantastic app to have.

  10. Guyute711 Says:

Try poweramp Leo, I haven’t messed with that really but that’s what people were recommending to me.

  11. Guyute711 Says:

Is that why I could only play 1 song T3? I tried that app but the free dealy.

  12. snowbank Says:

That’s sweet phoam… glad you will make it out. I’m stoked so many peeps are making it out to the gorge. Going to be nice to meet people.

  13. Leo Weaver Says:

Perfect. Exactly the kind of tips I was looking for. Thanks T3 and Guyute!

The options are almost overwhelming. Figured best bet would be a paid app.

    BB FTW!

  14. phoammhead Says:

right on, snow, it’s gonna be epic!

    see ya out there Phoamm!

so when are the CC holds gonna start hitting? Wed/Thur?

  21. garretc Says:

Nice, Trey with the Zeppelin riff in Fluffhead, throwing something notable into an otherwise pedestrian 5/12/94. Everything is pretty good, but nothing really goes big anywhere.

  22. angryjoggerz Says:

Posted it earlier, new track I just finished. Switched up computers and gear, so this is the first one on the new rig, etc. Dub/Dubstep kinda ting. Sort of needs to be heard on a rig or in headphones, lots of subbass. Enjoy, and let me know if you check it out, always happy to hear some feedback.

  23. garretc Says:

Haha, Zep teases in Possum too…

  24. tela'smuff Says:

@AJ – very very cool! love the subbass. Particularly liked from 2:18 until you drop back into the “reprise” so to speak at 2:50. That was dope. Well done dub man!

What are you using for this? I used to be way into the Acid program, but got out of it back around mid 2000’s.

  25. garretc Says:

Dang, that was actually a pretty bitchin’ Possum!
