TTFF: The Venues of 2012

6.10.11—Camden, NJ (Graham Lucas)

With the announcement of dates, a new excitement is in the air. Phish is, once again, within reach, even if its three plus months away. But in early anticipation of Summer 2012, today’s playlist is comprised of selections from venues that the band will play this summer. Enjoy the multi-era’d retrospective as we fade into the first weekend of March.

It’s Ice”  9.20.00 II, Cincinatti, OH

An out-of-nowhere plunge into psychedelic depths at Riverbend on Phish’s final tour before hiatus.

***

Sand” 6.19.11 II, Portsmouth, VA

To know this “Sand” is to love it. Every time I listen to this version from nTelos, I like it more and more. Trey absolutely destroys this piece in the context of a whole-band exchange. In my opinion, its the best version of an impressive year of “Sands.”

Reba” 6.2.09 I, Wantagh, NY

Phish dropped this gorgeous “Reba” in the early-evening at Jones Beach on the second night of 2009’s first tour.

Kill Devil Falls > Free” 6.12.09, Manchester, TN

This jam highlighted Phish’s late-night slot at Bonnaroo—the first of two performances.

Walls > Bowie” 6.19.04 I, Saratoga Springs, NY

The otherworldly second set of this SPAC show has always overshadowed this demonic combo from the first.

Pile of heat in ’11. Im lucky cause my tank gets filled off of stuff
Like the dicks gin and UIC elements set along with gorge Rnr, disease supreme and Tahoe light.

It’s a chase now tho. No doubt about it.

Clifford ball – opening chalk gin yamar was interesting. Would thunk chalk yamar gin just to get the kids wound up then sink into the gin. Anyway…cool to try to remember where I was at Clifford. Back then I went up with a crew I didn’t know that well that included a girl I was crushing on badly. Mistake. To be solo amongst 70k peeps is weird and fun at the same time. Found my buddy Thomas within the first set. Page side speakers all the way back natch.

    @ t3

i’m assuming you mean besides the official SBD? there is an AMAZING sounding SBD/AUD matrix of the 1st day, which i believe is still kosher to trade b/c it was made from the pre-FM SBD that had leaked way before the official release came out.

Unfortunately there’s not a similar matrix available for day 2, but there is a non-official SBD that sounds very good.

as far as straight up AUDs that i’ve hears, i really like this one

  3. kenny powers Says:

and like Duder said, the Real McCoy SBDs are on the ‘Nerd.

  4. kenny powers Says:

there’s also an AUD from the same rig/taper for night 1, in case you wanted some variety. But that matrix is smoking hot…much more SBD than AUD so it feels like a SBD but with more “breathing room” and ambiance, if you will. kind of like the current 3.0 mixes.

  5. garretc Says:

I won’t, KP, but thanks for offering

  6. Robear Says:

  15. Robear Says:

  16. kenny powers Says:

    lol @ garretc

  17. Robear Says:

    just figured out 3.0

things are best when the band can tap into the psychedelic energy of the crowd, rather than the front row energy. not sure how to influence that. but the shows i’m thinking of are really stark.

    utica
    greek 3
    bethel 2
    sbix 3
    uic 1
    dicks 1

  18. El Duderino Says:

    @ robear

just sent you an email to your gmail acct

  19. Guyute711 Says:

Man 3 songs in and I would have rather been at Mule 12-30-11.

  22. Guyute711 Says:

Tornado hit by Reedy Creek, hopefully no damage to the course.

  23. Robear Says:

by psychedelic energy, i don’t just mean lifted.

i mean, when the band plays the exact song you wanted to hear, at the exact time, before you even realized it. without a hiccup throughout

  24. Guyute711 Says:

Cuse has snapped the Louisville curse with two straight victories over them. Double bye in the Big East Tourney, #1 seed in the big tourney. Let’s get it on!!!!!!

  25. alf Says:
