TTFF: The Venues of 2012

6.10.11—Camden, NJ (Graham Lucas)

With the announcement of dates, a new excitement is in the air. Phish is, once again, within reach, even if its three plus months away. But in early anticipation of Summer 2012, today’s playlist is comprised of selections from venues that the band will play this summer. Enjoy the multi-era’d retrospective as we fade into the first weekend of March.

It’s Ice”  9.20.00 II, Cincinatti, OH

An out-of-nowhere plunge into psychedelic depths at Riverbend on Phish’s final tour before hiatus.

Sand” 6.19.11 II, Portsmouth, VA

To know this “Sand” is to love it. Every time I listen to this version from nTelos, I like it more and more. Trey absolutely destroys this piece in the context of a whole-band exchange. In my opinion, its the best version of an impressive year of “Sands.”

Reba” 6.2.09 I, Wantagh, NY

Phish dropped this gorgeous “Reba” in the early-evening at Jones Beach on the second night of 2009’s first tour.

This jam highlighted Phish’s late-night slot at Bonnaroo—the first of two performances.

Walls > Bowie” 6.19.04 I, Saratoga Springs, NY

The otherworldly second set of this SPAC show has always overshadowed this demonic combo from the first.

  1. El Duderino Says:

I wish they’d do a remaster of that DC album…

My father has the original vinyl release, I have the old cd release.

    Great album

  2. garretc Says:

    Fuck yes David Crosby

One of my favorite albums, if not the owner of the top spot!

  3. El Duderino Says:

Tiger Woods – kickin’ ass and taking names

  4. Mr. Palmer Says:

    He still plays golf?

  5. Kaveh Says:

maybe i’ll do a remaster of that show

^ KP: That would be awesome!

^ Thanks for this @KP. I got the second night SBD off the spreadsheet. It is nice.

  7. Kaveh Says:

@G711: I’m thinking your OrangeMen are looking great for the conference and big dance. BUT, Syracuse does have a history of under-playing in the tourney. Yet I can’t foresee that happening this year. Championship Week is going to be a real eye opener of insight into many teams. Regular season is over; time to be playing high caliber basketball. This is one of the most exciting times of the year!

ok i just watched this (heard it) for the first time since being at the show. MSG Cities 2011

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tq4CyzEuZxQ&feature=plcp&context=C3b93529UDOEgsToPDskKBHN5roJAsyEIH1c-XPECY

i didnt understand the genereal agreement that “trey aborted the jam” at the time so i held off from listening back.

and i hafta say, after watching that video, it makes even less sense. that jam simply wasn’t aborted. it went through several different awesome phases and then the band faded out in agreement.

someone explain why they (or everyone) thinks trey is cutting this off?

  9. kenny powers Says:

currently bagging and tagging ghetto-fab AUD remaster of Portland ’99…should be up later tonight.

  10. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

thanks for the sources, kp. I might have to check out that matrix. the first night of tCB was a life changer for me. I distinctly recall walking back to our tents after that first night just in awe of the band and what they had thrown down. that Mike’s->Simple is one of my favorite segues ever.

  11. Kaveh Says:

@KP: Let us know when it is up. I’m guessing on the Noid, correct?

  12. kenny powers Says:

yeah, that was an eye-opening experience.

kaveh – yeah, ‘Noid only for the time being, until/unless something more reliable comes along.

  13. garretc Says:

    @purps

I for one never thought that Cities was really cut off by anyone. At the time it felt like they had just sort of opened things up a bit to give us a peek at what was in store, but then pulled it all back in since it was only set 1 night 1.

In hindsight I was clearly wrong about the motivation, since for the most part that wasn’t what was in store, but I still don’t feel anybody cut it off prematurely. It ended pretty naturally.

Love the part with Trey and Page finishing each others lines. So slick

  14. thedayman Says:

MSG 11 Tweez – muy bien! excellent carini jam into it taboot. 12/28/11 is a damn good show.

  15. thedayman Says:

haha wow, great minds. I agree with @garret’s and purps sentiments. i almost felt like at the time that fish kinda just lets up at the end and lets the beat kinda fade away. someone was looking for examples of fish aborting jams recently, and i think that’s one where he definitely stops playing, albeit i agree with you guys that the jam had already resolved.

  16. El Duderino Says:

Just checked the ‘nerd and that CB audio rip is not available anymore-sorry T3

  17. DaNcInG fOoL Says:

Listened to that phil and friends SBD. Found it kind of boring.

  18. DaNcInG fOoL Says:

“At the time it felt like they had just sort of opened things up a bit to give us a peek at what was in store, but then pulled it all back in since it was only set 1 night 1.”

That was totally what I felt too. Ended up being arguably the best jam of the run 🙁

  19. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

    @duder
yes it is. there’s a 1.0 torrent with every studio album and LivePhish release along with Clifford Ball rip and a few other things. I just went into that and grabbed what I wanted without grabbing the whole shebang. this one

it’s mp3 which is all I need right now, but if you were looking at lossless only you are correct.

  20. kenny powers Says:

well, that was quick. 9/12/99 remaster already up.

  21. Mr. Palmer Says:

    Nice KP! Thanks man.

  22. kenny powers Says:

    that Gin is extremely cathartic.

  23. alf Says:

the blue note mega torrents are a serious treasure trove of amazing shit

    (all whitey day over)

  24. Gavinsdad Says:

    Now Woods waits…

  25. El Duderino Says:

Tiger Woods final round 62 (career best final round) -10 2nd place so far
