TTFF: Grab Bag II

Denver 2011 (Charles Bridwell)

Tweezer” 7.8.03 I, Chula Vista, CA

A scorching daylight version—the fourth song of the show.

Reba > Walk Away” 10.29.98 II, Los Angeles, CA

During the first second set of Fall ’98, Phish illustrated the musical direction the tour would take with this jam.

Split Open and Melt” 7.12.99 I, Mansfield, MA

A funked-out first setter amidst a gorgeous sunset at Great Woods.

Mike’s > Keyboard Cavalry” 11.21.95 II Winston-Salem, NC

In a new Miner/Trey Is My Friend joint—Phish Loops—some hidden gems have been unearthed by a series of master “chefs.” This “Mike’s Song” is one of these gems, and its last few minutes are worth the price of admission on their own. Come check out the page!

Bathtub Gin” 9.29.00 I Las Vegas, NV

This bangin’ first set version was the highlight of Vegas’ entire two-night stand.

Piper > Mist” Atlanta, GA 7.26.03 II

One of many outstanding “Pipers” from Summer ’03.

Ghost” 9.8.00 I, Albany, NY

In the very first set of Fall ‘0o, the band threw down this, largely, under-the-radar jam.

Run Like an Antelope” 5.16.94 II, Los Angeles, CA

Ever hear of this beast from The Wiltern?

  3. Guyute711 Says:

Went and saw the Bobby and the legwarmers show last night. Pretty fun, but I’m beat now. Long week.

  4. litteringand Says:

Went to the Grateful Dead Show last night, very cool. I fucking love Brent

  5. litteringand Says:

Funny to see The Wolf take a shit after China Doll and Jer goes back to the Tiger

  6. Guyute711 Says:

No what was hilarious was the smirk Jer gave after Bobby’s weak slide guitar work.

  7. litteringand Says:

Also it seemed like the only two people Jer was shooting looks to all night were Brent and Billy

  8. Guyute711 Says:

Brent was killing it, he looked like he was all coked up. Crowd at the theater was pretty good too. Probably 3/4 full or more. I rode the rail. 🙂

  9. litteringand Says:

It also hit me that if i had been able to go to dead shows, no doubt I would have been hitting the bathroom during Drums. Not trying to hate , just being real

  10. Guyute711 Says:

I actually went outside and smoked during drums.

  11. phoammhead Says:

    That is funny G.

  13. MiA Says:

    Good day for the 20tj.

  14. angryjoggerz Says:

I think drums is one of those things that you had to actually be in the venue, hearing them pan around the space, ebb and flow and get into your chest cavity to really understand. It wasn’t always good, but when it was, wow was it. Truth be told, drums/space is sort of what got me into GD, it was as psychedelic as I wanted them to be. I had to sort of learn to understand the psychedelic bits of rock after that. Glad I did.

  15. Fly Says:

The regional variances of which you speak are beautiful and fascinating. I love languages. Thank you for taking me on a quick trip to South America.

I was fortunate enough to see Radiohead in Kansas City in March. It was my first show. I’d have to say that I, too, was blown away.

  16. Luther T. Justice Says:

I too had a great time at the GD show last night. A lot cooler than I had imagined. What a sick 2 sets! The crowd at the theater I went to were a lot of fun including several female wook dancers. Hope they do this again next year.

  17. Luther T. Justice Says:

And I noticed a lot of people heading out of the room during drums fo sho.

  18. phoammhead Says:

check this cute fiddler playin’ stash

i think phish needs to upgrade their stage presence . . . recruit this girl . . . dayum!

  19. Guyute711 Says:

Hey, you are getting married phoamm. You no longer have the freedom to be checking out hot fiddlers.

  20. phoammhead Says:

lolz, G7 . . . i’m getting married so i have to keep on checkin’ out hot fiddlers 😯

  21. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

that tweezer is a fine way to start off the day. a fine way I say.

  22. Guyute711 Says:

I just remembered the Russian girl working at the diner after the movie. I may have to go back and get some pancakes today.

  23. MiA Says:

Got my Junta 3 LP Vinyl. Woot.

  24. stapes Says:
