Stein’s Shots: Best of Leg One

“Steam” – 6.30.12, East Troy, WI

Michael Stein is one of the premiere concert photographers on the scene today. With an impeccable sense of the moment, Stein captures priceless portraits of his subjects time and time again. It just so happens that he is also a huge Phish fan. Hitting the road with the band for most of Leg One, Stein has hand selected a 38-shot gallery that represents his favorite shots of 2012 to share with Phish Thoughts today. I want to personally thank Michael for sharing his work with this site for over three years, and here’s to future collaboration! This post provides a preview, but be sure to CLICK OVER to view the rest of his Leg One gallery!

I know exactly what Robear means about a wormhole.

Seemed like the “whale” section, kept coming back, even in Weekapaug and they were like teasing the jams in the jams. So much counter-referencing stuff they just did 4 minutes ago.

Love how Page can’t let go of Light at the beginning of Week. and how they kinda plop into Seven Below.

The Seven Below jam is like bits of all three previous songs.

    What do i know though.

def agree miner. kind of an individual component type show as you say. the disease->sand is great, but set fizzled with that rifted twist and short gin. really thought we were about to blast off when twist started..

still though, the lower tier shows this tour still have some great highlights.

thanks again for all that you do.

  8. Mr. Palmer Says:

They are going to play every state in the US they haven’t played yet. Not sure how many states are left.

Show at Mt. Rushmore 2013 !

  9. Mr.Miner Says:

    ND/SD/WY/HI/AL

^yup! re: star lake. this is what I often refer to as “self-referrential jamming” for lack of a better term. My favorite of that sequence is when Page so gently brings back Week in -7…so smooth

The Juneau Alaska will melt brains….

    Palmer FTW!

Apparently BGCA are stealth shows for dr g & me

Every time those dates come up in convo with family my mouth inadvertently says we’re doing sth else besides phish. Oops. Hope my brain and mouth start colluding so i can keep my story straight, lol

hilarious, sumo. same here. my wife tells her mom today that i’m headed out to SF in mid august. mom in law says: “For what?” i told her it was a reunion of good friends. and the ?ing thankfully stopped.

  16. Xpun Says:

So I’ll throw it back out there too that I’m looking for some cheap lodging. Floors work. Over sized chairs + ottomans are even better 😉

Thanks for the link Palmer. Great read.

13 going to be a busy year!
